Welcome Ms. Hadley, Your Paw Paw is Waiting,

Ms. Hadley,

You are going to be born tomorrow and I just wanted to tell you how special you and your parents are. You have so much Love waiting on you that I am not sure you can take or accept it all. You are a special soul for at this time on earth you are desperately needed.

Your Mama and Daddy are probably the most important people in my life other that your Sue Sue. You are Paw Paw's girl. I so look forward to your arrival! Your arrival means we can walk through the soil that GOD gave us to grow our food. The soil that gives us life. The soil that when I am gone You will provide food to others.

I can't wait to hug you and have you sleep on my chest in the afternoon./ I can't wait to see you grow with courage and conviction for love of family and community. You arrival is the bright light of my life and I cannot wait your arrival. You are my Little LOVE!

We will wiggle our toes in the dirt! We will taste the first tomato of spring together in the garden. We will cook our first Gumbo together. You are my Heart! I am giving this letter to your father so he may read it to you upon your birth.

I love you as I love your precious Father and Mother. You are my special love. I see you tomorrow!

I am going to teach you LOVE and HONESTY in front of GOD!

Paw Paw,

My friends, I am so excited. This is my letter to my first grandchild.!

Grandchildren are such a special blessing! I have 4 now and another one on the way. They are the light of my life and every time I see them I am reminded why we have to continue to fight for a better tomorrow. One day they will be raising their own children in the world we leave behind for them. May God bless you and your growing family! :)

what it is all about . . .

blessings on you!

awww Congrats grampa

WOW!!! look what that little girl has to look forward to.
What a great grampa...
love her to death, it's easy, we have 15.

An excellent name... for a boy

It is one of those surname-derived Anglo-Saxon names that were once commonly given to sons, up through the 1960s, particularly among middle-class WASPs. It fits into the same category as other Anglo-Saxon surnames adapted into masculine given names, like Ashley, Madison, and Allison (the last perhaps originally from French), which have been recently transferred into "girls' names" by the uneducated and uncultured. In the case of Ashley and other -ley names, there is an etymological connection; ley is derived from the old Anglo-Saxon word leah, referring to a clearing. In the case of Ashley, it is a clearing of ash trees in a wood; in the case of Hadley, it is a clearing of heather.

She will fit right into 21st century America, alongside girls at school named Bradleigh, Addysen, Vivian, Lindsay---all derived from perfectly respectable men's names from only a century ago. In an era in which women are attending university at higher rates than men and men have downward social mobility in America, perhaps it is appropriate that this generation of trousered freemartins inherit the names of their grandfathers.

Sophron, I printed this out to

give to Hadley. I thank you very much for I found this most interesting. I also think it may be most appropriate at this time in history.

Hadley is a great name

Congratulations. I can't think of anyone in the world I have ever had a closer bond with than my Grandpa. I was the youngest girl in a large extended family of primarily male cousins with the exception of my sister. He babied me lol. Some of my best childhood memories are with him. I hope you and Hadley are able to form as amazing of a relationship as I had with my Grandpa.

This might be the best post

This might be the best post ever on DP. Congratulations to you and your family on the arrival of the first grandbaby and best wishes to your daughter(in-law?) for a safe and healthy delivery.
Lucky little baby girl, being born into a life with so much love.

Your pic is so close to my Baby Beemer , you have

no idea. My cat looks just like yours. He rides in my tank bag and sits tight through the curves on my bike. He has traveled with Susan and I for thousands of miles.

Your pic reminds me of him. Thank you for your wishes for Hadley.

That was my kitty "Blackboy"

That was my kitty "Blackboy" and as special as he was, he died two years ago @ the age of 12, anyway, I don't think I could have got him anywhere close to our 2003 Heritage that we bought last year...
I'd like to know how you got Baby Beemer to stay on the bike or was he just a natural :)

It is funny for when I found him,

he could fit in the palm of my hand. At that time my only transportation was a motorcycle. Didn't get first car until about 5 years ago. Anyway I immediately put him in my tankbag. About halfway home he opened it just enough to stick his head out and enjoy the ride.

Since that day he has taken many trips with Susan and I.

Thank you The Granger and Deacon, For

I am so excited. Susan will be with my daughter at 4:30 in the morning and let me know when my little girl is coming. Luckily I am only a couple of miles away so I can leave the shop and be there.

This is such an exciting time for me. This new life is so important I cannot even convey to you how important. This child is important for mankind. She will see through the soul and say it like it is.

She is not of my blood but is of my soul. God bless Hadley!
