Doctor Paul Craig Roberts Calls Rand Paul A Neocon

Harsh Words from PCR re Rand Paul:

He is just another fool prostituting himself for the neoconservative warmongers and the military/security complex. If Rand Paul is the hope for America, then clearly there is no hope.

When George Washington

When George Washington decided to be king, thats when all this started! He should of just gave us our freedom and went on his way.

Excellent Article!

Why is it when John McCain talks like the neocon that he is, it is acceptable to bash him but when Rand Paul speaks the same language it's unacceptable to bash Rand????????????

No, because according to the

No, because according to the fucktard supporters on this site, calling Rand out for being a fucking idiot is equivalent to giving up on liberty or something. They're delusional and insane.

He's right, rand paul is a

He's right, rand paul is a scumbag liar and neocon.

Thank you

I agree. The betrayer, Rand Paul.

sovereign

Well that settles it

after reading all of these anti-Rand comments I'm now going to support the Rick Perry / Ted Cruz ticket ! Bwa ha ha ha ha

Ron Swanson

How bout you throw your

How bout you throw your support behind liberty genius? You don't HAVE to support any of these pieces of shit, INCLUDING Rand Paul.

Cyril's picture

Not the most effective way, IMO

I usually (often) like what PCR has to say, but there, not only it's not very nice overall, it's also much of a stretch, AFAICT.

I, too, disagree with the idea of any legitimate concept of "foreign policy" for Rand Paul to bother about, but that's certainly not the way I'd try to have him change his mind on that one.

Counter productive, especially if it's about Rand. PCR could argue better than that. I hope it was just a very bad day for him(?)

"Cyril" pronounced "see real". I code stuff.

Dr. Roberts

I'm a huge fan of your articles. Keep up the good work.

wow this thread is infested with neocons

Rand is no where close to a con

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

Con

Endorsement of Mitt Romney. Con, love for Israel. Con love for warmongering.

So exactly how can you say he is not close to being a NEO con man.

Rand the betrayer.

sovereign

but of course

but the argument here is that he can do and say whatever he likes, because he's just playing chess.

actually this argument doesn't give rand much credit for being who he is. he has stated early on he is not like his dad, and that he is not a libertarian. neocon tendencies? go no further than his recent TIME article. but it seems people need their idols, and need someone to lead them, and the establishment needs to always keep the populace diverted from the important issue, freedom for the individual.

where did Roberts get his Doctorate?

University of Ukraine? Has he ever done anything but blow hard? never heard of the jerk off -he probably get paid by Huntsman or some other fascist

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

lol

Well if you looked him up you would recognize he served as assistant secretary of the treasury under Reagan, and was a co-founder of "Reaganomics". But we all know it's easier to minimize someone if we don't like what they are saying. Good job.

Whoa

Strong words Doctor Paul Craig Roberts! Not so sure what bug you got up your arse!

Here are Rand's so-called

Here are Rand's so-called "sanctions" from his TIME magazine editorial:

1) "I would support immediate construction of the Keystone Pipeline."

OMG!

2) "We should also suspend American loans and aid to Ukraine because currently these could have the counterproductive effect of rewarding Russia."

Say it ain't so.

3) "The U.S. should suspend its participation in this summer’s G-8 summit and take the lead in boycotting the event in Sochi."

This is not exactly all bad.

4) "I would reinstitute the missile-defense shields President Obama abandoned in 2009 in Poland and the Czech Republic, only this time, I would make sure the Europeans pay for it."

Rand wants Europe to pay for their own defense.

5) "I would immediately remove every obstacle or current ban blocking the export of American oil and gas to Europe, and I would lift restrictions on new oil and gas development in order to ensure a steady energy supply at home and so we can supply Europe with oil if it is interrupted from Ukraine."

This is just basic free market philosophy.

6) "Visa bans should be imposed and enforced."

This one cuts both ways but is not exactly draconian. Those concerned about illegal immigration might like it. And whatever it is, it is certainly Constitutional. So I think the people are making a mountain out of a molehill. WTFU!

Thomas Jefferson 1796, 1800, 1804; James Madison 1808, 1812; Ron Paul 1988, 2008, 2012; Rand Paul 2016.

I do not like 6.

Therefore Rand and I are 99% in agreement. But as I have said, I am not interested in running for president.

If my numbers are right, that would make you 83.333% in agreement.

No, it's 99%.

Changed mine too! for now....
Might change it again soon, for TX runoff info.

Everything Paul Craig Roberts said is absolutely true!

And, even if you do like Rand Paul, if he was as good as Ron, the elites would never let him win and I think we all know that.

Anyway, we gave $4,000 to Ron Paul, but we will never give a dime to this man.

BTW

Rand Paul is also a Doctor.

Actually, he didn't exactly call Rand a neocon. He called him

a whore.

So let me get this straight...

In a nutshell, if Rand were elected President, and because some think that he is a neo-con (even though he maintains a 100% record in 2012, 2013 and 2014), he would pursue war/invasions and without Congressional Authorization?

As NowOrNever posted on the first page:

Style v. Substance

Style---The Republican press is currently pushing the narrative that Obama and the Dems are "soft on Putin," yet there's no substantive difference between the positions of Obama and the Republican hawks (e.g. McCain). This media narrative is not about Ukraine, it is about domestic politics. It is about the war party trying to reassert itself, exploiting the Ukraine crisis to revive the mindless rah-rah nationalism that supports their foreign policy generally. And the real target is not the Dems, but those Republicans who oppose the war party: especially Rand Paul. So how does Rand deal with this problem? He needs to appear "tough on Putin." And that's the purpose of this op-ed.

Substance---Beyond the rhetoric, what is Rand actually proposing that the US do vis a vis Ukraine and Russia? In his own words:

"This does not and should not require military action."

---Good, no war

"We should also suspend American loans and aid to Ukraine"

---Good, less foreign aid

"I would immediately remove every obstacle or current ban blocking the export of American oil and gas to Europe, and I would lift restrictions on new oil and gas development in order to ensure a steady energy supply at home and so we can supply Europe with oil if it is interrupted from Ukraine."

---Good, free the energy market

"The U.S. should suspend its participation in this summer’s G-8 summit and take the lead in boycotting the event in Sochi. If Putin’s troops remain in Crimea at the time of the summit, Russia should be expelled from the group."

---Good, get out of these international organizations

"I would reinstitute the missile-defense shields President Obama abandoned in 2009 in Poland and the Czech Republic, only this time, I would make sure the Europeans pay for it."

---Good, let the Europeans defend themselves

"Economic sanctions and visa bans should be imposed and enforced without delay."

---Here's the only potentially objectionable proposal: economic sanctions (though we don't know what specifically Rand has in mind). Most likely, any economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the US would be symbolic. There isn't that much trade between the US and Russia to begin with, and the EU and China (Russia's most important trading partners) are not going to play along with any sanctions, beyond some tokens to appease Washington. So, yes, economic sanctions are bad, but I wouldn't get your panties in a bunch over it in this case.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

^^^^This^^^^^

Yes its Style v. Substance & you know what Paul Craig Roberts is not naive he knows dam well what the issue is & was when Ron Paul was running for president in 2008 & 2012 that he was weak on foreign policy. Thats all you ever heard & for Roberts not to mention that is disingenuous at best.
