Student Loan Tax Credit

Wouldn't student loan tax credits expand the student loan bubble? How is this any different than artificially lowering interest rates? If graduates pay off their loans sooner as a result of tax credits, it would make loans more readily available, which in turn would allow universities to increase tuition further.

I must say I'm surprised to hear Rand advocate for this... sounds very 2008-candidate Obama-esque. I hope it's only lip-service.

Splendid!

Go Rand! Great speech to rally our youth, our hope for the future!

Imagine McCain, JBush, Graham, or Cruz doing this?

All repubs./dems. are invited to duplicate Rand's speech and reception at Berkeley.

oops..

I didn't see this so I also posted this a couple of hours ago...I checked through the list of postings, guess I didn't go back far enough. But I got this weird comment by someone saying they were surprised I got so many comments and votes because it was the video posted by Berkeley. I can't figure out why that is a problem, can you?

Your story is still going. It's at the top of recent topic now.

Running them both is fine, just not both on the FP. No worries.

No Worries Puma!

I hate to admit it but, I do it all too often........:)

Coming of age...

The overflow crowd meant that some Paul supporters were forced to wait outside, to catch a glimpse of the man they believe could change the face of the Republican Party.

The Chevron Auditorium was packed with more than 400 people. The only thing missing was demonstrators. The university known for protestors was quiet. It could be that they not only enjoyed messenger, but the message.

some pretty good local news coverage

Can't beleive he used the tired examples

of government being necessary because they have to build the roads and only government can provide a national defense. The same people that currently build the roads and the same people that currently provide national defense would/could be used in a stateless society...it just wouldn't have a parasitic "middleman" that steals from everyone, creates laws (which is how so many "criminals" are created to begin with) and of course the "government" then exempts themselves from the very laws they create.

Rules...YES! Companies that construct roads...of course. Private security for a group (if some group feels they can't defend themselves) no problem!...But in the 21st century...its time people wake up to the fact that we do NOT need RULERS! There is no greater threat to peace and liberty than when a population gives a small group of people the legal authority to initiate violence and steal from the population.

99% of the dangers most people on this planet are faced with in todays world is state sponsored violence which is always projected as being neccessary to keep the people safe. Fcuk the State!

While I agree

with your assertions, I think we're a long way away from that scenario. At the very least, a few decades away from there.

Baby steps...

Keep telling your truth, change the voting laws so that liberty-minded people CAN actually get elected, start turning this ship of state back around...then eventually I think 'we' can go stateless...

All of the above is my opinion, only...

The interview was great; Rand's political maneuvers, I think, may just work...

BAN ELECTRONIC VOTING!!

I've never seen an anarchist run for president..

..but if I did, I would laugh at the irony. If you're looking for someone to advocate and educate on a stateless society, do me a favor, and turn your eyes away from the political stage. I personally follow Rand because I guarantee there will be someone elected for president in 2016 and, from what I can tell, Rand is the best combination of 'likely to be elected' and 'shares my values.' By no means do I consider him ideal, and I've yet to determine if I'll vote for him, but I have enjoyed watching and listening to him these last few months.

Meanwhile, if you want to hear some great advocates for a stateless society, consider attending PorcFest in Lancaster, NH this summer. You'll learn something new and meet some really great people.
