Does Smuge Pot live or die?

Here is a question and I am seriously gonna listen to your input and I will explain why.

Some of you know that I am sick, I have this horrible illness and I fight it ever single day but it's a losing battle. I have so far outlived expectations that I actually feel silly still standing here.

I have been holding onto hope that somehow medical science might come up with a cure.

Miracle of miracles, we think it's here! 93% effective. It can't come fast enough to undo the damage that my body has taken but it could buy me another decade. Imagine that! That would put me into "normal" life span.

Thing is the stuff costs like $80k and let's just be honest here: for $80k you should be able to buy a whole clone army of Smudge Pots. For $80k you should get the patent on my genome and an endless supply of Smudge Pots. Forget it. Ain't gonna happen.

But if I sign up for the Obama/medicare thing, I get these pills for free and that buys me a new lease on life.

OK let's take it real. You know and I know that this cure, this medicine would be coming from you to me. Somebody has a gun to somebody's head. It would be nothing less than rank and filthy CAPITULATION and we know that is WRONG.

Well ideology is nice and all but I literally have this decision to make. Take the cure and live longer or die faster.

The one thing I want to know: would I be letting you guys down to take this cure? Or would that be one step too far?

Cause if that's the way it is? Then I'll hold the line. And that's how much I think of you guys. I'd rather die for something than because of something.

Tell me. Would I be letting you guys down if I took this cure? I guess it's kind of a stupid question but I want to hear it from you.

Smudge Pot lives

to fight another day.

You're not capitulating, merely taking back what the gov't stole

Do what you can to bankrupt the system. I don't know you personally but I bet you've paid into the system by giving the gov't money over the years more so than people who have lived off the gov't since the day they were born. We need you Smudge. And there's nothing wrong with taking back what you've put in.

Gilligan's picture

Yes, exactly!

A quibble, tho; he wouldn't be "taking back what [he's] put in". He would be "taking back what's been TAKEN from him".

Google is government.

Oyasin, pilamaye yelo. And what is more precious to me.

My relations, I thank you from my heart.

I will tell you of a greater miracle than this medicine. I will tell you what you have done for me no matter if I get this cure or not.

All my life i have longed to dwell among a righteous people.

People whom dwell upon thoughts of righteousness both day and night. People who keep the name of God holy no matter if you believe in God or not.

Some of you atheists, you keep the name of God holy in your lives whether you know it or not, I see this in you, you are His children and He sees you.

My ancestors see you.

I see you.

Now I want to turn this question back on you: if this is what you will do for a low and dirty smudge pot,

what will you do for one another?

Love each other as you love me and Smudge will live forever.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most people who think sew actually rip.

Smudge you are the best

I was here earlier today to say of course you should sign up for the medicine. But I came back to say, no, I didn't know that you were sick, and I'm sorry to hear that, and that you will be in my prayers, along with many others here who are having their own challenges.

And while you are in my prayers, I will add everyone here at the Daily Paul to my prayers.

Indeed, we are all willing to do this for you. What will we do for one another? Wise words.

Wishing you the best.

Mitakuye Oyasin.

Mike bro, I will speak to you. Devil's advocate.

What about holding the line?

What about setting an example?

What about the oaths?

What about our word?

Most of those who think so actually don't and most people who think sew actually rip.

I would question this little

I would question this little miracle pill. Of coarse you should live but have you looked into other types of healing?

yes and it's why I'm here

there are many things we have pharmacopia on. Our traditonal medicines cannot cure me but they help recuperate and ameliorate some of the worst damage.

There are some of these things you should not use without direction because some of them are toxic but they include:

white willow bark
milk thistle
liccorice root
osha root
cedar leaf

if you want to know how i juice it's beet carrot apple ginger cellery. gotta love those beets.

i can eat a whole buffet table full of pickled ginger. but on the other hand I can out drink the nations of Ireland, England, Scottland and Whales.

The whole thing is just LISTEN TO YOUR BODY and it will tell you what it needs. One thing is I need pure water, I can't drink from most taps, it literally makes me puke and I keep pumping down tons of fluids (alcoholic or not, don't really matter) and I forgot what i was talking about.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most people who think sew actually rip.

yum, pickled ginger

that sounds like something to live for.

But really the choice is yours. Which gun is more unjust the one pointed at you saying you can't have this "drug" without selling your soul or the one pointed at us saying you will pay our high price for his drugs?

The right thing to do is for us to all pitch in and pay for your drugs and even better yet figure out a way to make them 100 times cheaper.

But I am hoping you made up this story to make us all think. If not, what did you decide to do? Did you buy the Obamacare? I am grandfathered in on my old plan so far thankfully. I will have to start making more money if I want to buy Obamacare and thus help you pay for your drugs :-)

What's wrong with you? Pm me

What's wrong with you? Pm me if you need to.

I'll PM you

just for the heck of it.

I like to talk in case you didn't notice.

Got your pm. I'll have to

Got your pm.

I'll have to ponder that one a bit.

hey you don't have PM turned on you big dummy

it's in the profile settings. You have to allow people to PM you.

What? Weird. I've had pms

What? Weird. I've had pms before. K. Hold a minute.

Edit*** I meant private messages not post menstrual syndrome.

I was puzzling over the misspelling of your name so I plugged it

into the internet anagram server and came up with 'Gem Spout' and I thought 'yeah, once in a while.' Further down the list I found 'Ego Stump' and thought 'he does have that affect on me sometimes.' Finally I discovered 'Guest Mop' and thought 'Now we're onto something!'

Chris Indeedski!

Daily Paul cured my abibliophobia.

How do you wish to be remembered...and by whom?

This is not idle pondering. Our legacy informs the next generation, gives them stars to navigate by. What do you want them to know about you? What guide posts will you leave behind?

One of my heros is Rose Wilder Lane. Died penniless, living on the charity of others, because she refused to take Social Security. Nothing, even abject poverty, could make her violate the conviction that Social Security was wrong, wrong, wrong. May I have such moral clarity when confronted by such choices...

I will not give you an answer to your question. That answer is within you only, and no one except you can know your innermost heart. Good arguments can be made for taking the subsidized meds and for refusing to participate in the current medical system. But those arguments are missing the one thing that makes them valid: what YOU want.

Re: Lane

Before SS, especially after the civil war, fraternatal organizations based on trade or religious interest, or both.. like the Grange/Patrons of Husbandry, Eagles (theatre), Lions, Moose, Elk, Rotery.. matter of fact, when you pass into a town, many times the fraternal orders are posted at the enterence (gate).

These organizations use parlimentary laws, and some like the Grange became very powerful at one time with an 11th story building across from the capital to proove it.. none the less, the By-Laws and missions in these organizations are to help "widows and orphans", but helping each other, and this included benefits, so you didn't need SS and you could live on charity because it was the fabric of society.. The poor house was people who never settled or fraternalized.

As more immigrants came and industries changed franternal orders were shut out by bigger government who offered options like SS.. now Americans don't know parlimentary law.. this is how we are losing our republic. If Ron Paul Republicans knew parlimentary law, we could have fun cencuring Preibus.. but too few know it, and too many are willing go continue the "old boy route".

I admire strong women who live by their convictions, so I appreciate the introduction to Rose Wilder Lane. Thank you.

Toah ho.

you get it.

Somebody has to stand. Even if we fall.

The desire to live

is greater than the desire to die and we will try anything that might help prolong our lives.

My nephews partner recently died of brain cancer and he took a very expensive drug that was suppose to prolong his life, didn't work.

My mother in law died some years ago had a very intrusive operation that was suppose to prolong her life it didn't and she suffered. She said if she knew she was going to suffer and die anyway she would have not had the operation.

It is best if you ask yourself some questions and ask your doctor some questions. Is there a guarantee that the drug will work and/or what or the side effects? Many people die from the side effects so I don't see how that makes any sense.

What do you want, how do you want to die?

Wouldn't it be great if they just gave the 80 grand and people could decide if they wanted the drugs or maybe spend the money having a hell of a lot of fun before they died.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

Trev! You would be doing a HUGE SERVICE...

Trev! You would be doing a HUGE SERVICE to all those with the disease. You would be a guinea pig! And what they learn by treating you will potentially help them cure hundreds of thousands of others. When the treatment can go into mass production, the cost will come WAY down.

Oh- and you get to get healthy and live forever as a bonus!

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

That was my observation; that by this comment (or some other offensive comment), the user was choosing to leave by one way or another.

It would be nice to be able to see the history of why some people were jettisoned; there is both a story there (which some lived through) as well as a lesson to be learned, as to what specific behaviors elicit a faster response, etc. (For instance Granger, that's a slow response.)

One only has to look at rule

One only has to look at rule #7 in the site guidelines to know why most people get tossed.

You know what I think

And no one will ever make that untrue

Only as far as i seek can i go
Only as deep as i look can i see
