VIA Drudge: Korea Turns HOT!

VIA Drudge: Korea Turns HOT!

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- North and South Korea fired hundreds of artillery shells into each other's waters Monday in a flare-up of animosity that forced residents of five front-line South Korean islands to evacuate to shelters for several hours, South Korean officials said.

The exchange of fire into the Yellow Sea followed Pyongyang's sudden announcement that it would conduct live-fire drills in seven areas north of the Koreas' disputed maritime boundary. North Korea routinely test-fires artillery and missiles into the ocean but rarely discloses those plans in advance. The announcement was seen as an expression of Pyongyang's frustration at making little progress in its recent push to win outside aid.

Yawn... distraction!

Bring the troops home already!

Then let them go at it all they want! It will end real quick when the North realizes there is no money left from Uncle Sam, and the only out is to make a deal with the South.

It's their business... US go home!

I agree

I was stationed in S. Korea in 1977-78. We don't need to be there. There are about 650,000 Republic of Korea (ROK) military troops. Granted the North has over a million but ROK forces are armed to the teeth with the latest U.S. gear including fighter aircraft, ships, HUMMVees, and a gob of high tech stuff that they designed and built themselves vs. the 30-60 year old equipment in the North

Kim Jong Un may be a colossal jerk but he isn't crazy. He knows that if he forced the issue, he would get his clock cleaned. In fact the idea of the U.S. pulling out would scare the hell out of him. Its like a big kid can't beat up a little kid because he'd never live it down, so he just gets out of the way and lets his little brother beat up the kid.

Yeah sooner or later he (Kim) will have to deal with the South if he wants to avoid obliteration. But like you said...That is their business.
