VIDEO: The Cannabis Oil Invention Shona Banda Wouldn’t Hold Secret (BenSwann.Com)

Shona Banda - Live Free or Die

Politics By Evan Mulch Mar 30, 2014

Dr. Sanjay Gupta of CNN has recently blown the doors wide open on medical marijuana and the people in America are acting fast. Even while cannabis remains a Schedule I substance under federal law, politicians are quickly changing state laws to allow people to use the plant.

So who is it that should get credit for the medical marijuana momentum that we are experiencing right now? Dr. Sanjay Gupta definitely deserves credit but who inspired him to take a deeper look at benefits of medical marijuana?

We may never know exactly who or what inspired Dr. Sanjay Gupta to report many of the fascinating facts about medical marijuana but the discovery of the Charlotte’s Web oil can be linked to two people that have never had the spotlight in the mainstream media.

THC or CBD ?

Aren't there specific types or % mixes of THC cannabis with CBD cannabis? Or does any cannabis bud work?

I'm looking for psoriatic arthritis help.

I heard about Charlotte's Web and Phoenix Tears ????

Those are both compounds

...found in cannabis. Each strain will have its own genetic makeup in regards to its chemotype (chemical profile). There are many medicinal compounds that make up the plants chemotype. There is THCA, THCV, THC, CBC, CBD, and CBN just to name a few. THC is the chemical compound that has psychoactive effects while CBD (cannabidial) has been noted for its anti-anxiety, anti-spasmodic, analgesic, and neuroprotectant properties. The chemotype of the plant changes from strain to strain. Most plants on the black market and/or the green market (medical states) have been bred to produce plants with high levels of THC. Consequentially, many growers, knowingly or not, bred out the less marketable or sought after CBD.

All cannabis has CBD. The question is how much and what's its ratio. Generally, you're looking to find a 1:1, or 1:2, or even 2:1 THC/CBD.

The question about psoaritic arthritis. Yes you'd need a strain with higher concentrations of CBD. If you're not in a medical state but still can get your hands on some herb, it's still worth a try; however, try and find herb without limonene. Limonene is a terpene (botanical aromatic[also found in citrus]) and in 3% of population it can irritate skin conditions. So when you buy, you should be looking or smelling for cannabis that has a musky, sandlewood, earthy, peppery, smell- as this generally expressing the terpene myrcene and other phenotypes from Afghanistan and Pakistan which are known to be more "couch-lock" type cannabis, which has more CBD.

But really, for you, I think you may need some CBN. Cannabiniol is a compound that's created by the breaking down or fragility of THC. CBN makes you sleepy. It's great for insomnia but the other benefit to old weed is that CBN penetrates the skin more effectively. So basically, make your oil and then infuse it in cocoa butter or coconut oil or both and use it as a lotion.

I hope I have somewhat of an understanding of PA. Autoimmune skin condition which when it flares creates pain in your joints? Good luck. Feel free to ask questions. I know my plant.

In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

You did great, but

There's Psoriasis ( the skin issue ( and there's Psoraitic Arthritis ( the joints issue ). It's basically a form of arthritis.

I'm in Florida.

I wonder how i could research ( in preparation for medicinal laws being passed ) wink wink how to find which variety and % THC/CBD or CBN strands I could try.

I saw a video on how to use an herbal vaporizer. I know know that locally here, the bud is high potent THC and used for recreational purpose. If that's all there is, is i worth it?

Shona's story and Rick Simpson

Are two of the people that educated me and inspired me to treat my own Crohns with RSO.

Cannot thank them enough for the courage it takes to stand up for what's right against a corrupt establishment that sows not much else but lies, suffering and death. That is true courage.

PS Shona is a huge Ron Paul supporter. Actually she talks about it in her book at length - and - goes into some detail about how she 'woke up' to the truth about liberty thinking while fighting to get better. Highly recommended if you can find it.

And just think in the gop

And just think in the gop strongholds of the south, they will lock you in a cage, kick your doors down, attack your family, your assets, your lives, just because you enjoy, or benefit medically from this incredible gift from G-d.

Support the gop and support a continuation of that policy. A democrat in fla got a truly sick bill thru, a law that will lock you up just for possessing a bong! Hundreds of small businesses put out of business by this law and the fla gop couldn't join fast enough. Sick depraved sicko's and people teach their children to go and kill people to support this regime.

Hey, the gop didn't support Dr Paul so...........it comes back around

Hmm, so you can make hemp oil by vaporizing?

We have seen the results of taking hemp oil; Micahel J Fox is now able to perform normally as an actor after taking Rick Simpson's hemp oil.

For those that don't know how hemp oil is made. Large quantities of high quality marijuana are mixed into liquid grain alcohol, heated, the solid material strained out, and boiled all the way down to the final residue.

One pound of weed gives about 2 ounces of the oil.

But this lady is claiming that just getting bud hot (vaporizing gets to 365 degrees F) and collecting the residue will have the same or similar effect of boiling down and straining the bud like Rick Simpson teaches.

And for those that do not know, the hemp oil DOES NOT HAVE AN INTOXICATING EFFECT. So you don't "get high."

But it makes me wonder if there is a medicinal effect to just plain smoking bud?

oil in 6 minutes

You might want to try this out for extracting oil. I saw it in action at the state fair.

Not ALL cannabinoids are water soluble..

THC for instance is considered 'nearly' soluble in water.
many of the 'unwanted' compounds ARE water soluble..
chlorophyll for instance.
My guess is that this extraction method
will NOT make good cannabis medicine.
The critical dialogs I have read
resolve to the differing properties of using
polar vs. non-polar type solvents w/ polar types being inferior
BECAUSE of their water content pulling unwanted plant compounds
into the extraction.
Non-polar types have no water and result in 'cleaner' pure oil.
Perhaps the best non-polar solvent is liquid CO2
which is the extraction method used by commercial extraction.
Think about it:
If many of the cannabinoids ARE water soluble..
then WHERE do the cannabinoids end up?
In the water
in the oil.
Perhaps if the water is slowly evaporated off, the cannabinoids could then resolve back into the oil.. idk.

the oil rises to the top

above the water.

issue I could see with that device is the lack of temperature control.

Cannabinoids and terpenes are very sensitive to certain temp ranges and will convert to other compounds or be lost if it gets too hot for too long. I'm not sure a microwave would be the best tool. Maybe a more precise hotplate and a good IR thermometer would be good for use with that.

Here is the poor man's method of efficiently stripping the medicine from the leaves with a water/oil distiller and everclear. (One can still mess it up if they aren't paying attention) Food grade ethanol is usually the choice for orally ingested oil.

These folks are pretty knowledgeable and have good resource to understand the different processes. Hot water and hot air (vapor) are still fairly obscure methods, so idk how efficient they are.

BEST Oil Extractor I've seen

Have you used it befree?

i have not but I have a sample

I watched them use it at the fair and have a sample of peppermint oil. They had all sorts of oils they had made....but not cannabis because that would not have been legal. We vote on it again this year.

I have been thinking about getting one. Will give a report if I do.

Please do

I have been toying with the idea of producing my own essential oils and this unit looks quite easy and affordable. Wonder how tough it is

Wow now that is cool

I will be looking for testimonies of people that have used that machine for hemp oil.

Did you watch the video? Shona discovered it by accident. You run the vaporizer, and let it sit. Takes about an hour. Once the vapor is gone, it leaves the glass coated with the oil. She then takes a small spatula and scrapes the bowl, and puts it in gell caps-this is how Shona makes it. Poor man's version. You don't need pounds of weed, just a small amount. And also don't need the 190 proof alcohol.

It's not actually hemp oil

It's not actually hemp oil that cures according to these people--it's cannabis oil. It DOES have an intoxicating effect. I've read this site suggesting that making cannabis paste is better than oil. It makes sense, as you're consuming more of the plant material, and there is less waste. This site suggests that the more the better, but if you're uncomfortable with being high, to use only an amount to give a feeling that you are comfortable with.

I disagree with the premise of this marketing 'strategy' regarding 'paste'.
You have to do your own research but some basics are:
1. The plant 'matter', once extracted, is inert fiber and cellulose along with unwanted waxes and chlorophyll and of little medicinal benefit if any, hence
2. the entire EFFORT of concentrating cannabinoids into oil AWAY from the plant matter becomes pointless.
3. Juicing the plant raw has SOME benefits but does not carboxylate the important cannabinoids... THCa into THC and CBDa into CBD... only heat and curing will perform the necessary conversions and this is an IMPORTANT/CRITICAL step in making good cannabis medicine.

Thanks, sounds like there's

Thanks, sounds like there's more reading to be done! Do you agree with the method Shona Banda uses?

I like that idea BStep....

Thanks for the link. I've also researched about juicing it with a juicer, leaves and all for health benefits with no high.

Do you have any good links

for juicing it?
Sounds highly interesting.

Check out YouTube....

That's where I found some good videos-"juicing Cannabis."

Right, but Rick Simpson just NAMED it hemp oil

They are using BUD to create it, so it does not involve "hemp" it involves cannabis. It is made from weed, not hemp. But Rick Simpson just decided to call it that, and there are tons of videos about it on youtube.

And YOU CAN achieve an intoxication if you take a high enough dose, but you can set your dose beneath the intoxication point.

Michael J Fox does? Please link

I cannot find anything anywhere that shows MJF's support of cannabis, medicinally or otherwise. Please illuminate the terrain on your statement that he's taking simpson oil.

Your saying that on the basis of a single youtube video?

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good things is my religion. Thomas Paine, Godfather of the American Revolution

No I can't, sorry...

Sorry, I went back and watched this video, where I got the idea that Michael J Fox used hemp oil... And I watched it for his reference to the oil, and he only references "pine nut oil."

So I am sorry, I may be completely incorrect and mistaken about the Michael J Fox reference.

Thank you for posting this!

Thank you for posting this! This is great information. I found Rick Simpson's Phoenix Tears website to be fascinating too.

That's funny....

I just posted this yesterday on FB for a friend that was just diagnosed with Crohn's. Here is the cheapest vaporizer I could find for her.
