Liberty Rising: Georgia Advances Pro-Gun Bill “Safe Carry Protection Act” (BenSwann.Com)

The bill would allow members to carry firearms in churches.

Earlier this year, South Carolina passed the Restaurant Carry bill that allows concealed permit holders to conceal carry firearms into restaurants that serves alcohol. Georgia is advancing a similar bill called the Safe Carry Protection act.

According to the LA Times, the bill would allow guns in schools, bars, airports (up to screening areas), and churches.

The NRA called the bill’s passage a “historic victory for the 2nd Amendment.”

The United States Senate Committee on the Judiary

formed a subcommittee to look into the 2nd amendment. Some familiar names composed the committee, such as Orrin Hatch, Bob Dole, Ted Kennedy and our now vice president, Joe Biden. The findings:

...the conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept and wording of the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every major commentator and court in the first half of the century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own or carry firearms in a peaceful manner...
