Meanwhile off the west coastline of Michigan

While we contemplate world events I am reminded that life goes on. Here I sat on an ice shelf in Holland Michigan watching the sunset in April 2014.

How sweet it is to be alive!

Lovely

I really like seeing all the Great Lakes

Thanks!
Have you been up to Superior ? Now that's a cool lake....pun intended!

Not that far north unfortunately

But what did strike me is that I never knew there were giant sand dunes when in Michigan either.. wonder (and lolz) all around us!

Oh yeah!

Sleeping Bear Dunes up near Traverse City is amazing!

I'll take a ride up there in a few weeks and get some pics.

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Huh...I thought I remember...

a Red Brick Lighthouse in Holland. Sailed there for the DeVosses once...

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

This was a little North at Ottawa Beach

The light house is still there...

I was racing out of Holland...

..with a guy who owns a big insurance co Bob Hughes aboard "Heartbreaker". Know the boat?

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Holland Dog Park

This is slightly off the main thrust of this thread. But I can tell you there is a nice little dog park which you'll drive by on the way to this park. I actually been to that dog park more times than I've been to that park. If you have a dog, it's a nice little stop if you're going through the area!

Two shorten the road.

Cool Pics :)

Pun definitely intended.

Spent many a day at Ottawa Beach

when I was younger. Michigan is blessed with many coastal towns and parks. That area is also the fruit belt, apples, peaches and cherries up around Traverse City.

NOSHEEPLE

Thats it! Ottawa Beach

Really nice anytime of year

In a word -

Stunning.

time is wasted in minutes not hours

Vaery, very, nice.

And here I was just grumbling to myself

about this miserable 50 degree cold morning while giving a quick before-the-rain mow to the lawn so I'm not fighting foot high grass after the rain.

Thanks Dex. These pics changed my mind. I should take off my shirt and enjoy my fifty degrees. I could be up there still wearing a parka with no garden in.

Awesome pics Dex

The world around us is intoxicating... I just got back from Big Sur and probably saw that same sunset from a cliff over the Pacific- how lucky I am!/we all are to be alive!

As soon as I saw that cove with the waterfall....

I thought that's not Michigan...that's Big Sur! I'd know that cove anytime...

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park

This cove is quite famous. The key to Big Sur is finding your own private beach, waterfall or forest of Coastal Redwoods with no one else in sight... not that hard really, especially in the winter or spring.

Make sure to get fuel before you get out there. Regular unleaded in Gorda, the only gas, was $5.99 per gallon!

That makes two of us.

We drove lazily from LA to SF. Spent two days and a night at Big Sur.

It was that trip that impressed on me that I had failed to recognize the natural beauty and wonders of Michigan.

Beautiful Dex!

How sweet it is indeed!

Absolutely beautiful pictures.

Thanks for posting this

I grew up near the Great Lakes, but now I'm living in the Rockies. I miss all the water sometimes, and this was a fantastic reminder. Thank you!
