The Granger is floating

I take no relish to report that The Granger has been banned.

This account and I have been at odds in the past months. Prior to that, I sent it a couple dozen FRNs to attend a Republican meeting. (It later said, after I expressed shame at supporting it, that it had sent those contributions to Michael. This matters to me little; I expressed that I was sad that I had supported this individual, and I still am, regardless of what other financial actions this individual takes.)

The person or people at the other end of that account have personally attacked me, and have violated the rules, repeatedly.

Last night's violation was apparently enough to cause a moderator to take notice.

I won't editorialize further. I am sad that this came to pass; I have tried to help her remember and honor her agreement (to not hawk Israel at this site), but she either forgot or, as has seemed more and more the case lately, just doesn't care.

I am not happy about this turn of events. However, I am quite relieved. I hope that this site can return to having more focus, than the contrast that this account brought, inappropriately.

Sometimes a 'Red Wedding' is all you need... Congratulations?

If you're watching GoT,

the Purple Wedding is next.

I'm sure you could imagine who's going to "get theirs" next, and it's about time.

Now, back to Granger bashing....

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Sorry about that. I've been listening to the audio books at work so I"m really excited to see this next episode.

Did you hear that HBO's stream service crashed? It's going to crash again...

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Not surprised

We must not offend those who identify themselves by their sexual preference. Nor point out the association of the fascist agenda with said persons.

Well, I feel better

In my interaction, she was trying to explain that killing people for oil was the only proper libertarian position. I'm quick to give my trust to most people on this forum.

But in the end I guess it's just words on the Internet. A hobby.

Hey everyone

Today's a new day! Let's go out and seize it shall we?

I'm looking forward to the new and letting go of what "isn't" anymore.

What new adventures will today bring?

I look forward to joining all of you on the board of new posts at the Daily Paul welcome screen.

Hope your day is filled with new opportunities

Granger and I were always at odds, but I'm not happy to see her go. If we really believe in "do no harm", did she actually harm the DP? Or did that silly gay nazi link actually harm anyone? I doubt it did any harm to anyone, but its not my website, so its not my call.

However, it brings to mind the constant back-and-forth between the believers and non-believers here; someone from one group will post, and the comments from the other group will seek to destroy the thread. Is it really that different?

If the main thrust of this sight is LIBERTY, it would necessarily be a hard decision to make. In future, maybe we'll just all agree to disagree. At any rate, I wish her well.

So much commentary on a typical internet shill.

Nothing wrong with defending Israel when it defends itself or debates, but that foo' did it even when people were discussing crimes being committed by the state. It is clear to me she did it like she was getting paid by the IDF and had an agenda since the state could do no wrong in her eyes. All I can say is about damn time.

I would have done it half a year ago.

Keep the B& hammer ready and used on shills.

what an odd image I have in my head...

I've never seen so many posts about one person...banned, not-banned, banned...sigh...

Sometimes, I get the feeling

Sometimes, I get the feeling that this community was set up or co-opted as an experiment in why a utopia of liberty would fail. This is not me criticizing you, this is me reflecting critically on my own values, the vast majority of which are common to the members of this community. Perhaps there is always controversy here precisely because folks come here at times to be controversial. Either way, it forces me to question my assumptions about a truly free society if a group of a few hundred people can't manage to exist in digital/virtual peace and harmony in spite of the fact that we have more core values in common with each other than we do with 99.999% of the global population.
I don't envy the people trying keep the "arc" afloat.

Granger could ruin a good thread faster than any other user.

I typically didn't engage with her but I would cringe knowing new visitors would get the wrong impression and leave the site after reading her BS.

Excuse me?

New visitors? big deal..they can't join, they can't comment,so who cares if they stay or go?
So while you cringe about her comments, that is as far as that comment is going to go.nothing added, nothing taken away from new visitors.
MN,doesn't care if this site runs or stops,so new visitors,is the least of your worries/concerns...at this point in time.

Same here

about the cringing knowing new visitors would get the wrong impression.

I am a pretty tolerant person but she made me feel embarrassed for being here sometimes.

This is my .2 cents on the Granger banning

I sent this comment into the original tread already:

Maybe my tolerance level is just much higher than most of the people. Yes, the link is somewhat inappropriate, but it is not so bad that somebody should lost their sleep over such images.´

I definitely understand the down votes, but not the banning. Down votes I understand of course because Granger's link does not have anything to do with the discussion and at the same time it is somewhat inappropriate as I already also mentioned.

But the site to which the link takes one is not something especially disgusting even if it is most probably done slightly in a downgrading fashion making fun of gay nazis. But seriously a site which contains some pictures of nazis without shirts and some clips of Hollywood movies in which men hug and kiss in Nazi uniforms is not really that big of a deal even if it does not have anything to do with the discussion.

I wasn't even gonna click Granger's link as it just looked stupid to me, but I got curious when response to it was what it was. For example, TwelweOhOne states that "I can't remove those images from my brain" and Jungleboogie states "That's bloody disgusting Granger. First time the DP actually made me ill :("

Hey Come on! Are you guys serious!?!?

I was expecting some truly hardcore stuff after these comments from few DPers. I went through 4 pages from this site and didn't find anything particularly "bloody disgusting". The site does not have any nudity unless if a guy without a shirt is counted as nudity and if linking to a shirtless guy is enough for being banned then there is plenty of people who should be banned as, for example, there is most probably some videos of shirtless Adam Kokesh posted on DP. Only thing I can say that this gay nazi site is ridiculous, but it looks more like a pure joke à la Mel Brooks than anything truly vicious.

My verdict would be: definitely no banning of Granger, but downvotes indeed perhaps rightful as her post is absolutely meaningless and stupid in connection to the discussion concerning the OP.

But that said if there was some other reason than this comment of Granger which made the banning then that's another matter and then I apologize my spontaneous rant.

I clicked on the link too and didn't find it all that offensive. I don't like nazis, but have nothing against gay people. It wasn't porn. It just looked like a sophomoric joke site associating nazis with homosexuality a la National Lampoon or Quentin Tarantino. I think a few members overreacted.

I'm with you on this. The

I'm with you on this. The site Granger linked to was not very offensive at all. I do not understand the banning, especially not considering some of the responses on other threads that I have seen or had to take part in.

And yes there is a down vote brigade here at the DP. And they never refute or explain why.. It is like a hive mind of idiocy sometimes, down vote and no logic brigade...

Why not any responses to my comment only down votes!?!

How many of you have visited this site that the Granger posted a link to which led finally to the banning?

I did

Found nothing worthy for what happened
As i have said further below,I found it rather funny, and on many levels
As a matter of fact,i went there twice, trying to find what all the hoopla was about...still at a loss.

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

I clicked on it

and it made me feel terrible sad.. sad to know that there's such inhumanity and that in many of us it's barely hidden.
