What are you doing with your life?

How would you answer that, if someone asked you?

Are you living up to your full potential?

What would you say?

Please, say it here.

changed my entire life around

Quit my 6 figure job at a high profile law firm without a backup plan.

Ended up starting an organic mushroom farm with a friend.

There's something incredibly rewarding about producing healthy food and (dare I say) medicine. Much more rewarding than money could ever be (link in my signature).

Started an incubator of sorts for LOCAL art and music (sorry, no cover bands! - unity88.org).

I also built a tool designed to help decentralize music and media in public places (wethevj.com)

Its amazing what you can do in 2 years when you don't have to help big companies rake in more profits 12 hours a day.

Most of my life

I've taken care of others. Now that all my others have either dead or off living lives of their own I'll be making huge changes in own my life.. while I have some ideas and direction, its going to be really big shake up. I'm terrified yet excited.

Wow, garnet!

I could have written that myself! Good to know we are not the only ones going through that, eh?

I hope I don't burst any bubbles here, but what I have found is the ones who were helped forget they ever were, and just move on

Let it ever not be said, that I never did not do nothing for you.

Some do. Some don't.

I learned a long time ago not to look for anyone until I see them coming and that what comes around really does go around. We each have to live with ourselves and Karma can be a B . I almost feel sorry for some people, knowing what they will have to experience sooner or later. But, at least I know I wasn't the cause of their suffering.

Then there are the very few who don't forget. They can be amazingly supportive when needed the most. I have been blessed in that regard.

How are things going for you, deacon? I didn't forget you and have kept you in my prayers.

things come,

But mostly go..for me.I know you haven't forgot me...you can't :)
I am a lot like you,I don't cause suffering for people, but it sucks to be left behind after carrying so many for so long..maybe this is why I have a bad back?
I truly never ask for much from anyone,,I learned long ago, they will not be there..But there are times when I honestly need something..Such as a ride.
hey my house is no fire..what do I get? a call back maybe 3 days later
I could see if these people lived miles away, but not around the corner.
Glad to hear your experiences have been better, and thank you for the prayers.

Let it ever not be said, that I never did not do nothing for you.

I know you weren't asking for

I know you weren't asking for advice, but if you have a bad back, the problem might be your "front" (in other words, your "core"/stomach). I've had a bad back my entire life, but after I seriously started concentrating on the chest and stomach muscles with exercise, I've not had the paralyzing pains that would literally confine me to the floor for hours at a time return. Concentrate on your core and you'll be a believer.

No worries and thank you

But it is a bit more of a bad back,I suffer from spinal damage caused by a roll over accident back in 02.I just kept my reply simple, and illusive.
I can say that at one time,I'd have to stretch my arm sleeves out,but not anymore.

Let it ever not be said, that I never did not do nothing for you.

Oh, yes that is a different

Oh, yes that is a different problem altogether. I guess only a physical therapist would be qualified to advise you of a sensible exercise regimen.

I'd give ya a ride =) I'd give ya both a ride

A good way to think of it~

and after reading again~ true true..! some of my very best friends were those who I might not see for a year but a knock on the door would bring them back into my life seamlessly. I hope to have friends like that again someday

Satisfying my questions

as fast as I can.

I abandoned political activism

Too much backstabbing and lying. Politicians and wannabe politicians are some really sick folk. So I decided to farm tilapia and permaculture my property. I've got about 500 fingerlings, and man do they grow fast. My goal is to educate my neighbors and friends and hopefully get my little community more self sufficient. Am I living up to my full potential, no. But I try!

Yo Robert and Tog

consider toxicity. And it's not expensive to find out. Get a hair analysis and check with one of the folks at www.drlwilson.com. Fluoride certainly could be one of the toxins in your body and chlorine, bromine, arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum. Then find out what you can eat and what supplements you can take to rid the body of stuff it doesn't want.

Dr Wilson is a fan of the 2nd amendment, Tea Party and is distrustful of governments. It could be a perfect fit. After all how are we going to spread freedom if we are too sick to get out of bed?

Dr Wilson is certain we are not getting enough iodine and he prefers kelp because of the other minerals present and the alginates that pull mercury from the body.

Get started!

Am I a piece of crap? thread. Thanks Bill, for the inspiration!

Working while relaxing

I may not be doing much with my life right now, but I want it that way. I've gotten myself to the point where I can pretty much do whatever I want (within reason) without worrying about expenses. Not rich or anything, just careful. As such I'm able to spend time helping friends achieve the same thing. People are a lot likelier to listen to your political positions when you make them some money.

As far as living up to full potential...If I were , how would I know? What if I did do more, but that ended up being the straw that broke the camel's back? Can't have *too* much on your plate at any given time.

A signature used to be here!

Buying Time!

Just like the rest of you. Our monetary system has us set up to simply live our lives buying time. We can never realize our full potential because much of our time is used to buy more time. After that I do as much as I can to help other folks around me buy time. I find it enjoyable to help others and it kinda gives some meaning to this crazy ole surf life.

Trying to dig myself out of

Trying to dig myself out of the shit. I was a self-employed guy for awhile but the income and to be honest, the desire has dried up. Tired of working 80 hours a week to make pittance. So, now I'm back in the job market. Have a good job interview setup for tomorrow for a REAL full time job with an actual salary and benefits IN MY AREA OF EXPERTISE. Hopefully this will pull me out of the spiral.

I've also been having strange health issues. They always run my blood work and it's good but I still have random times when I feel faint or just weird. I am getting better but the bills keep stacking up..

I hate this economic system and this country. Everything's so goddamn expensive because of the PEOPLE choosing immoral and ignorant leaders.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Good luck Robert

I'm sorry to hear about the health issues. With time, I've come to realize that health is the foundation of everything. You don't realize that when you're young - only when you get older and things start acting up and breaking down.

Be careful about what you put in your body - that goes doubly for the hate. Hate is not good for you. It will rip you apart.

We can't control the situation that we find ourselves in. The economic system is what it is. Taxation is theft. Everything is expensive. Etc. The one thing we can control is how we react and respond.

Best of luck Robert.

I have been getting the same

thing with the faintness issue, it usually happens in the mornings, I get really dizzy for no reason, my blood work too was fine, vision gets all weird too like kind of like reality looks fake or something. Good luck in your new job endeavour. Maybe it is the fluoride?

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

Same here tog...

Mine started with chronic headache. Then dizziness and weakness when standing. Also had heart palpitations. Thought maybe a severe sinus infection, and completed a two week cycle of antibiotics. I've cut out the diet soda, as all of my symptoms are similar to those from Aspartame toxicity. Been off it for about a week. Headaches aren't as bad, but still slight, and dizziness is still somewhat apparent. I may be getting a brain scan soon, just to make sure that's ok. My blood work, blood pressure, and all other tests so far have come back normal. Even an EKG was fine. I'm still able to function normally, and concentrate for hours when needed. Just wish I knew what the hell is going on.

Well.. For me it's some kind

Well.. For me it's some kind of ulcer/gall bladder issue. I knew I had gall bladder pain but the ER confirmed I had stones. I think they were "passing" and causing me to feel faint/ill. I'm eating/drinking much better now and feeling better.

Any of you having similar symptoms might have your gall bladder checked as well as ulcer meds to help reduce acid. Has helped me thus far. The tricky thing is that you become susceptible to gall stones when TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT.

Try drinking the expensive

Try drinking the expensive black cherry juice (not the cheap concentrate junk, the stuff sold in glass bottles). It helps break up crystallization in your blood. I have gout and this is the only thing that has helped me.

Pursuing dreams and ideals

Fortunately some have come to pass (ie. teaching music and falling in love), while others have been very frustrating amidst strenuous work and borderline poverty (ie. falling out and finding 'right' love X ) while realizing a particular creative project etc).

On a different note and while I'd call it more of a willing duty, throwing my hat in the ring for local office has been quite satisfying, particularly when advocating IMO some new political positions.

In any case, good luck all in the big holographic play

Falling in love!

One of the best things in the world.

Funny thing is

I could swear that the 1st time I heard this song is when Benny Hill did a spoof-on (and literally fell off set)

Sorry, finding no YouTubes of that one o_O

And oh yes, love is grand!

Sitting on a beach

Staying warm in Puerto Rico. Eating healthy food. Meeting wonderful folks from all over the world. Being supportive to anyone that I talk to. Being a source of inspiration. Going in the ocean each day.
