DENVER, Colo. (CBS4) – Sales tax revenue on recreational marijuana in Colorado is down compared to early projections.

Total tax revenue on recreational pot is 13 percent below state estimates which means Colorado is bringing in nearly a half a million dollars less.

“We’re not seeing number of individuals using recreational marijuana that everybody originally thought we would. So because of that it’s very difficult to budget as to how do we spend dollars we don’t know whether we will or won’t,” said State Rep. Geri Gerou.

Medical and

Street is still cheaper than the tax-ridden buds that are legal. Over regulate and this is what happens. What's with all the scare mongering if sales are down huh MSM???? Let's remember, the stuff going around the streets in Colorado is much much better than the bunk in other States.

Since when is a Tax revenue dip a sure sign of a failed product? They don't go hand in hand, not with a plant.

The drug warriors have preached for decades that the illegality

of drugs was the only thing keeping us from the abyss (totally ignoring experiences in other countries). So now they act surprised when a limited legality of one drug is allowed, and usage does not meet their predictions (as far as revenue generated). Could it be that some people aren't interested in marijuana even if it's legal? Or that others give it a couple of tries, then decide they don't like it? If that's true, then the rationale for keeping the other drugs illegal may be in jeopardy. As Ron Paul mentioned in one of the debates, if heroin were legal again, he wouldn't be likely to rush out and shoot up.

What is the cost

now that they are taxing the hell out of it. If it costs too much then they'll either grow their own or borrow some bud. And, no, I don't mean that silly "you can only have X plants" grow your own, either.

LOL... some of the comments are funny...

...also surprised by the mention of RP.
