Romney attacks Ron Paul

0 votes

A blogger named Jonathan has this comment today on Eric Dondero’s (Ron Paul’s notorious “disgruntled former employee”), blog, “Libertarian Republican:”

“as Mitt Romney said on the radio the other day in Florida, anyone that advocates in a Presidential debate aboloshing [sic] the CIA and FBI and that the United States makes Islamist attack us, deserves to be laughed at.”

That’s an obvious reference to Ron Paul, even though it distorts both his positions. The clear implication is that Romney is attacking Paul in his campaign, if not mentioning his name.

I have no idea whether Romney raised this himself, or whether he was responding to someone else’s comments about Paul.

I’ve posted onto the blog asking for more details, and will share them if and when they become available. If anyone else has information, please share it. .

All the candidates are careful not to mention Ron Paul

They know, as well as the established D.C. crowd, that Ron Paul is one finger snap away from catching a big wave of real momentum. Heck, he would now, if the media covered him 1/4 as much as the others. A few good showings on Tuesday, and a continued split up of McCain and Romney, and we may have the race we want.

Ughhh

I hate even SEEING the name "Eric Dondero"! The man is absolutely delusional. I wonder who he's throwing his "valuable" support to now that his boy 9u11iani is out. Dondero actually believes (hence the term delusional) that The Ghoul is/was the only true Libertarian GOP in the race. ***key the theme to Twilight Zone***

The sick part of it is that Mitt is well aware

of what Ron Paul meant-and probably agrees. He intentionally perpetuates the misunderstanding to keep people snickering.

The suggestion was to ROLL the CIA into the MILITARY

The FBI went after MLK and are busy arresting sick drug addicts and criminals created by the stupid War on Drugs which makes drugs so lucrative to sell. Good riddance, I say. There's nothing they do that states and good policy can't solve.

Ron Paul needs to explain the HOW part of this issue.

I often talk to peolpe who parrot that line and laugh (lost vote). How is the CIA and FBI going to be eliminated?

Anyone?

I've found a video of Ron Paul

answering that very question. He is talking of getting rid of the CIA, and giving its functions to "military intelligence" (presumably the Defense Intelligenc Agency), but not of abolishing the FBI, but only of 'reining it in.

Which would do, I suppose, for this campaign. However, long-term, it remains that the FBI does have no constitutional warrant; criminal law, and policing, is strictly a state function. A constitutional FBI would have to be a co-operative venture among state police departments, along the lines of how Interpol is a joint venture of national governments.

So (to my mind) getting to that point would involve something that, up here in Canada, we call 'disentanglement' - where levels of governments transfer functions to each other, including both 'services' and revenue streams.
I'd envisage such a transfer coming in simultaneously with Washington vacating the income tax field.

I could see a Paul administration starting down that process, but it would be a messy business, as it's been here, taking years and perhaps a decade to accomplish. So it's probably a good thing Paul is not trying to get into that during the campaign.

Another thing to keep in

Another thing to keep in mind here. When we return to the gold standard or other asset based monetary backing. The Treasury department will likely become more active since they'll actually have something to do. I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI were split in half. Half of what they do could be rolled into the Treasury department. The other half to provide logistics to local and state law enforcment. IMO the FBI should be little more than a conduit for local government to track criminal activity across state lines.

"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

Darn good listen!!!!

Darn good listen!!!!

CIA to be rolled into the defense department..

FBI, I have no idea. I assume he doesn't mean the whole thing, just the unconstitutional and overreaching parts.

Explaining away the FBI requires explaining the War on Drugs. And that's a hard sell to dumb people. Most take the kneejerk reaction that drugs are bad for you and should be criminalized. However, they don't realize that marijuana is fairly harmless, and the illegalization of drugs creates a black market for them which FUELS criminal activity rather than prevents it.

That would make sense for the CIA since they should be

doing intel to prevent wars (ha) or for pre-war preparations. Has Ron Paul said this? I can't find anything on the subject.

We outsource our intelligence

The CIA doesn't handle foreign intelligence, we actually outsource the majority of foreign information gathering because if it were CIA they'd be caught.

Mark Larsen of 1040 AM WWBA interviewed Mitt Romney

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6lAFfLy05_Y

Mark Larsen of 1040 AM WWBA interviewed Mitt Romney on the morning of 1/29/2008. The sneers and chuckles from slippery Romney pushed him over the edge and drove him to support the only real candidate -- Ron Paul.

Thank you for the You Tube link.

I'd heard it this morning, on the embedded Daily Paul vid; but this was better, as I could post it on Eric's site. (If I'd put up a Daily Paul link, I think he'd have deleted it right away.)

I also got to read this on the You Tube page, which I don't think has appeared on the DP yet:

**UPDATE FROM MARK LARSEN** 1/30/2008

"I am so grateful for all of the response from Ron Paul supporters. You folks are awesome! I have so many emails pouring in I cannot possibly thank everyone. I started early this morning trying to, at least, send a "Thank you, note to all -- but I can't keep up!!

Please blog this message on the boards, so everyone will know how grateful I am for the support. I don't know where to start.

Sorry my show isn't syndicated -- the networks won't have anything to do with me. I've been on the air here in Tampa Bay almost 30 years. I was the first one in this region to put Congressman Paul on the radio back in the early 90's, regarding the Federal Reserve.

Yours in Liberty
Thank you!! :-)"

Just ignore it-

Stop giving traffic to negative sites.
When you do this, you help the enemy, so
next time you do this, you should consider that fact.

Put your attention on winning the election.

All that is is a portion of a really great radio interview,
where the interviewer kicked Romney's teeth in.

We have that on this site.

If you post anything over there, post that interview, so people
can see dondero's bs.

Although I agree that many

Although I agree that many people post "negative" items that are basically a waste of time and/or subterfuge from opponents but I seriously miss the criticism on this particular post.

I think this post is interesting and relevant.

=)

I disagree with only one point; I think it's important

(hence a reason to visit sites like that) to know what your enemies/competition are up to, from small fry like eric to belugas like Romney. Especially the latter; on the scale "First they ignore you, then they attack you, then you win," the Fox News xxFivexx xxFourxx Three are still holding to the first; this looked like a sign of moving to the second.

Your suggestion of putting the youtube link on eric's site is excellent, especially if (as I suspect) he doesn't listen to it but just goes by the title and Mitt's quote; which means he'll leave it up till someone fills him in. I'll do that.

I'd like to leave in your other good points, as well:
"Become a Precinct Leader"
"Donate to the Campaign"
(I'm a Canadian, so I can't do either, but everyone who can, should)
"Put your attention on winning the election."

Hopefully Not

Boortz is a fake Libertarian and a NWO stooge.

not so sure

It's possible that Boortz is not fake at all, but is actually sincere. On every other subject but foreign policy, he is a consistent libertarian. Instead of dissembling for massa, I think he is likely motivated by an exaggerated sense of injury and fear addiction. (Or he is an immoral shill who promotes mass murder in exchange for market share.)

Phobias, while based on real and rational fears, lead their victims to extreme and unsupportable terrors. Most of the MSM and neo-con elite seem to suffer from this. AIDS, breast cancer, drunk driving, and terrorism are all real threats, but too many Americans' responses are grossly out of proportion to the actual danger. More children die from bathtub drownings than from gunfire, but guns are pilloried and bathtubs get a pass. More women die of heart disease than from breast cancer, but the March for the Cure ignores the heart and focuses on the breast. In 2001, 3000 Americans were murdered by 14 Saudis and 5 other non-Iraqis, while 6000 Americans were killed in traffic. Logically, then, we should be twice as scared of automobiles than "terrists".

Mr Boortz is a sadly typical case of this pathology; he is afraid that drunk driving terrorists will invade America and give us all AIDS and breast cancer.

Right

.

that's a reference to the radio interview before the FL primary

I forget the name of the host, but that sounds just like the conversation where Mitt lost the host's vote. The host got upset when Mitt laughed at Ron and misrepresented Ron's positions, and then the host said (after Mitt had hung up) that he was now going to vote for RP. :-) Actually he was just about swearing at Mitt. He was really ticked at how elitist all the CFR candidates are.

There was a thread about this here; I don't remember the title.
