Harry Reid reaped $1.1 million from sale of land he didn't own

WASHINGTON — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn't personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.

In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.

The Nevada Democrat's deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. He's never been charged with wrongdoing — except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.

Reid hung up the phone when questioned about the deal during an AP interview...

Another example of zero consequences for corruption

I think all the politicians are so corrupt now that they can get away with anything because everyone else in Washington DC is equally guilty of their own dirty deals.

The real question is why the people keep electing them? I think the answer to that question is the compromised media and polling organizations manipulate public opinion, along with voter fraud and gerrymandering.

I see no way to get the corruption out.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

You Nailed It Matt

It's one big party and the people are not invited, they just get sent the bill.
There is only one way I can see of getting out of this, the vast majority of Americans need to become aware and involved, then act unanimously and vote out every incumbent after 2 terms in the senate and 5 terms in the house. A 12 year term for congress, long enough to figure out what's going on and not long enough to get too corrupted.

Because everything has an expiration date.
