Wait for that wonderful build up at 6:35
Beware the cult of "government"...
The Human Spirit is powerful. The Bastards trying to destroy it will absolutely fail fail fail.
Blessed are the peacemakers
Where was this performance?
[From the archives:]
You know where it will lead.
After watching this video, supreme leader Kim Jong-un said, "10,000 people? North Korea would use 100,000 children... WHILE doing back flips."
What does Korea have to do with this? They are in Japan.
1884 so that 10,000 voices exalted it a thousand-plus years later! It stirred up so many emotions in me that it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Beethovan and thank you so much for sharing!
Here's a tidbit I found about the "Ode To Joy",
"The words, which are sung by four vocal soloists and a chorus, emanate a strong belief in mankind. They were taken from a poem written by German writer Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additions made by Beethoven. Beethoven was completely deaf when he embarked on this masterpiece, and it's a tragedy that he never heard a single note of it except inside his head. At the end of the symphony's first performance the German composer, who had been directing the piece and was consequently facing the orchestra, had to be turned around by the contralto Caroline Unger so that he could see the audience's ecstatic reaction. Beethoven had been unaware of the tumultuous roars of applause behind him." http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=18530
for a most beautiful cap to a wonderful Easter Sunday. Inspirational.
After watching the Aaron Russo interview.
What do you think? http://consequeries.com/
Person who had the idea to do this?
The adventure of setting it up.
What would it feel like to experience it first hand?
Young and old singing.
Fantastic learning experience for the kids.
Engulfed harmonious sound vibrations.
Only time we experience something similar is at the opening of sports games.
What if delegates stood up in the middle of a convention, when things start getting crazy and start singing America the Beautiful (the 1913 version)?
If our President could "conduct" our country in a "constructive" manner.
Is this how dictators see themselves (Conductor)?
And a bunch of other crazy ideas....
Thanks fonz for posting :)
You are very welcome. :)
Compare it to this (abbreviated) street performance, from Catalonia, Spain:

I thought there was plenty of heart.
exhausted in the version from Japan. It's a great feat no doubt.
The huge chorus didn't work for me at all. The tempo was too slow -- basically unjoyful.
Probably someone was going for a record, and with that many voices, they have to be so precise or the sound will get muddled.
Still, it made me miss being in the choir, and wonder what it would be like to be a conductor!
"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)
