Bitcoin ‘cheaper and safer’ alternative to fiat money

Bitcoin is a global phenomenon and will gain in popularity across the world, even despite hostile attitudes toward the crypto-currency from state authorities, experts at Moscow’s first-ever Bitcoin conference told RT.

“Anybody who uses money, Bitcoin is important to them,” Roger Ver, chief executive director at MemoryDealers.com, said in an interview to RT on Wednesday.

First of all, Bitcoin is now “a major trend that will be transformative all around the world,” Dr. Bastian Brand, an investment director at Pathfinder Crypto-currency Fund (PCF) said.

Bitcon isn't a currency

it's a payment system much like paypal. except you don't know what it's worth from day to day. not very useful

Question on merchant account (credit card processing)

Anyone have any recommendations for a merchant account vendor? What I need is 'virtual terminal' processing (internet) for MC/Visa/Amex/Discover. I would eventually like to connect to our website (gateway?) but that can come later. Would prefer low monthly fixed cost ($20 or less) and 'interchange plus fee' for transactions (I don't like the pricing structure based on what tier each transaction is).
Will have about $2000 of monthly transactions. Also this is for a service company so don't need integration with shopping cart apps.

WTF. Bitcoin is fiat

WTF. Bitcoin is fiat currency.

Cheaper than fiat alright....

If you had $1200 in fiat last December, you would STILL have $1200 in fiat. If you had $1200 in bitcoin last December, well............

What bottom?

There is no bottom.

Leges sine moribus vanae

Or, you could say...

If you made/obtained $1200 in fiat last year you could buy maybe $900 worth of stuff today, or, if you bought into bitcoin when it cost .09 with $1200 fiat, you would be a millionaire today. No doubt there's some sloppy math there, but you get the point. Fiat FRN's are ALWAYS losing value.
