Between this and his fish hat it makes the pope look like the lord of the fish people...
We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.
...illustrating those that ensure the lies mixed with pomp and circumstance continue to dazzle the world.
Freedom is the ability to do what you want to do.
Liberty is the ability to do what you ought to do.
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Corinthians 3:17
The bible is very clear on apostolic succession. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:2 and 2 Thessalonians 2:15. For biblical corroboration look at Acts 1:21-26, where you'll see the apostles, immediately after Jesus' Ascension, acting swiftly to replace the position left vacant by Judas's suicide.
Look at 1 Timothy 1:6 and 4:14, where Paul reminds Timothy that the office of bishop had been conferred on him through the laying on of hands. Notice in 1 Timothy 5:22 that Paul advises Timothy not to be hasty in handing on this authority to others. In Titus Paul describes the apostolic authority Titus had received and urges him to act decisively in this leadership role.
These are some great examples of apostolic succession from the bible. Check them out read them in there full context. Also i challenge any Christians to read the writing of the first believers of Christ. Those who lived before a majority of people could read and the official canon of the new testament was compiled. It's important to remember that much of our faith has been passed down to us from the earliest of believers.
flood light right up at that crazy carving/statue and see what it projects on the wall.
Where the man of sin sits, who is the head of the Great Whore who sits over all kings of the earth. All must have his approval prior to getting their position, and if they disobey...well, just look what happened to JFK.
If you believe what is printed, or what you are told, without researching, you automatically receive damnation by believing in man and not seeking truth.
Jeremiah 17:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Just because someone says that something called "Apostolic Succession" exists, it doesn't make it true. There were only 14 Apostles, and whoever claims to be an Apostle, hasn't read his Bible very thoroughly, or he is out to deceive.
Kefka attempts to BECOME God in FFVI. Kefka, corrupt with power, murders Emperor Gestahl, moves the statues and gets infused with the ability to become God-like. He is a demon in the end of the game. Although Bach-like fugues are playing in the background, it is based on Kefka's leitmotif (I know...reserved for Wagner, but you get the point). Nobuo Uematsu knew what he was doing when composing for this scene.
The point of the ending is to kill the corrupt human that is attempting to become God---not to "kill God" like some (including the video above) suggests.
Sephiroth is called the "One-Winged Angel"---again, he attempts to become God. Once a good (or semi-good) person, Sephiroth becomes corrupted when working for Shinra, and when he learns of his past, he tries to become God by destroying the Earth so he can "have his planet back."
The point of the ending is to kill the corrupt One-Winged angel--notice that he has only ONE wing---he is a fallen angel.
I honestly don't see how anyone can claim that these games are anti-religious. Aeris is murdered by what can easily be called the anti-Christ while PRAYING AT THE ALTAR at the Temple in the City of the Ancients. She was a sacrificial lamb, in the eyes of Sephiroth.
The bad guys always look like Gods because they try to BECOME God themselves. So it's up to us to stop them.
I want to play FFVI again now....
Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Wow that's not creepy or anything. How does that not remind people of the "Dark Knight Rises?"
note: Damn you Kefka!
Catholic Church is the only Christian church with an unbroken line to the apostles. Like it or not, This is the Church Jesus founded. People will always be sinners however Jesus promised no matter his bad he will protect his Church.
This is false. The baptists have consistent demonstrable succession through the Novatianists, Waldenses, Mennonists, English Baptists, and others. Historical baptists are not protestants and did not originate with the protestant reformation.
Jesus Christ is the great and final High Priest who intercedes for His people. Any other person that claims this office is committing blasphemy and denying the priesthood of Christ, who sat down at the right hand of God.
Can you share some of your sources with me?
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
God could do anything he wants but Jesus founded a Church Mat 16:18. He promised it would never fall away and he would protect it. Jesus promise to guide them to all truth is good enough for me.
brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:50
Like it or not you are wrong. The Eastern Orthodox Church has that same unbroken line to the apostles. Before there was a Pope there were 5 Patriarchs. The Patriarch of Rome believing his country was richest believed he should be the supreme patriarch the other 4 disagreed feeling that concentrating power like that was wrong hence the schism. The Pope was created and became a political figure from whence all your fun little Opus Dei conspiracies and Jesuit assassin conspiracies come from. The Orthodox church continued on hardly involved in politics compared to the Catholics.
This is made evident by several historians from various religious backgrounds.
Legitimacy - the mad rush of liars to obtain it - all too common. Catholics, Mormon, Muslims, they all fight over whose right.
Truth is, GOD'S right! Man always messes things up. History proves that.
Does this sound like something a Baptist would say? " See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. —Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 8" keep in mind Ignatius of Antioch lived from 35 ad to 107 ad.
He was not alone in his witness. Just Google some of these names : Clement of Rome (d. A.D. 97), Ignatius (d. 110), Polycarp (d. 155), Justin Martyr (the Church’s first major lay apologist; d. 165), Irenaeus (d. 202), Cyprian (d. 258), Athanasius (d. 373), Basil (d. 379), Cyril of Jerusalem (d. 386), Ambrose (d. 397), John Chrysostom (d. 407), Jerome (d. 420), Augustine (d. 430), Cyril of Alexandria (d. 444), Pope Leo the Great (d. 461), and Pope Gregory the Great (d. 604).
Archbishop Fulton Sheen once said, "It is easy to find truth; it is hard to face it, and harder still to follow it."
Regarding the letter to the Smyrneans, the Apostle John wrote during that same time period that there are already many antichrists gone out into the world.
Also, don't forget: the victors write history.
All the Apostles were martyred, the churches were suffering persecution at the end of time of the writing of the New Tesament. So all your well-known "church fathers" were liberals who compromised to live, thus preparing the way for a large number of "churches" which had been compromised with the infiltration of paganism. The Holy Spirit no longer blessed these churches with power so they had to band together for strength and create a hierarchy. The rest of the history of "Christianity" via the Catholic "church" is well-known as being full of wars, conquest, debauchery and corruption.
Baptists were forced underground for centuries, surfacing in large, growing numbers when liberty of conscience was established in these once blessed united States.
Truth is not so easy to find in the midst of so many lies; but, it is made easier to find if we seek for it with all our heart and without any loyalty to any preconceived ideas.
“Were it not for the fact that the Baptists have been grievously tormented and cut off with the knife during the past 1,200 years, they would swarm greater than all the reformers... If the truth of religion were to be judged by the readiness and boldness of which a man or any sect shows in suffering, then the opinions and persuasions of no sect can be truer and surer than those of the Anabaptist, since there have been none for the 1200 years past that have been more generally punished or that have been more cheerfully and steadfastly undergone, and have offered themselves to the most cruel sort of punishment than these people.” - Cardinal Hosius, president of the Council of Trent from 1545 to 1564
Sometimes even deceivers are forced to admit the truth.
Before you go saying that Ignatius was apostate and not a true Christian please check out his story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignatius_of_Antioch
Second the gospel that you are preaching is contradictory to the Gospel that Jesus taught.
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen
Jesus promised his church he would always be with.
Third the comment about baptist going underground also contradicts the words of Jesus
Mat 5:14-15 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."
The lord knew that the Gospel would make martyrs of his people , such as all the apostle, and early Christians. However Jesus always prefaced everything he told them with "Peace be with you" or "Fear not" It would be counter productive to the Gospel if they hide in fear. Perfect example of who how the early church was is in the book of Acts. As they were filled with the Holy Spirit they were given the grace of courage.
And finally the quote you used from Cardinal Hosius is in error. Here is the actual quote before it was altered:
"For not so long ago I read the edict of the other prince who lamented the fate of the Anabaptists who, so we read, were pronounced heretics twelve hundred years ago and deserving of capital punishment. He wanted them to be heard and not taken as condemned without a hearing."
(The letters of Cardinal Stanislaus
Hosius, Liber Epistolarum 150, titled "Alberto Bavariae Duci" in about 1563 A.D.)
take a look at this source for more info.
Many reformer would attempt to use Catholic documents against them even if it meant to distort the truth. Here is a source that will show all the different alterations of protestants over that quote.
The Bible itself tells us to hold fast to Tradition, whether it comes to us in written or oral form (2 Thess. 2:15, 1 Cor. 11:2). these are the ones the Catholic Church passes down to us which include the new testament canon of 27 books. The Canon of the New testament was compiled in 4th century by a group of bishops. This collection is now the excepted canon of all Christendom. What group would have the authority to do such a thing? i challenge anyone to look at the history of the Canon of the 27 books of the new testament and find out what kind of men and by what authority they claimed to create such a canon. If these men were fallen and apostate as you have stated then wouldn't that also include the canon they complied as well?
Can you show me where you got your facts about the pope being made up? Also not following about the Opus Dei I comment. Catholic church includes Orthodox church as well.
It's Jenova's Witnesses!
And agreed with poster below, looks like a Transcendent C'tan.
Actually, the central figure looks more like a Necron C'tan from Warhammer 40k. For those that dont know, they like eating souls.
To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.
Father - Husband - Son - Spirit - Consciousness
When I first saw of picture of this truly hellish monstrosity in a Life Magazine special edition on the Vatican about 10 years ago, I shuddered because it showed it with the lights out which made it even more ominous.
Kind of puts meaning to the phrase uttered by Paul VI way back in the 60s I believe, who said and I paraphrase, that "the smoke of Satan has entered the Church".
The Catholics who held onto their faith have left the no-longer-Catholic Vatican, the Novus Ordo Churches and its devils!
"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom." Patrick Henry
does the pope's poo poo stink?
why does he need an audience hall?
guarded by people dressed up in halloween costumes.
You'll notice that's Pope Benedict who resined holding court. I do not think you will find Pope Francis, he of the no red shoe and all that paraphernalia nonsense, posing for delight in front of that middle ages excuse for sophistication. No, my Catholic church is lurching and struggling into what it should have been all along - spreader of good news, not pompous projector of 'heavenly' splendor. Check out http://www.visnews-en.blogspot.it/ for what's happening these days.
but none of this means anything when the Vatican continues to fight against the victims of pedophile priest. Now they are even using the Vatican's 'statehood' to hide guilty priest behind the disgusting umbrella of diplomatic immunity. When the Vatican starts turning over the sick bastards who like to molest kids, then maybe some of this will matter.
