Time for my nightly sunset

We only get so many sunsets in a lifetime, enjoy as many as possible!

Sunset recently near Oceanside Pier.

Please share a sunset near you or a favorite from the past. Sunrise pictures and weird cloud formations (man made or not;) would be nice as well.

Time for my Christmas sunrise :)

Have a great day DP whatever you are doing!

Oceanside Pier 12-25-2014 (Not the best picture, but I find it hard to waste too much of my viewing/walking time taking pictures)

Train station, about two weeks ago

He's the man.

Nice! Thanks!

Kinda wish I was there, or anywhere but home right now. Fires popping up all around me. School evacuations, freeway closures, power outages, insane traffic and Marines bailing out of parts of Camp Pendleton.

I was thinking about you,

wondering if you were okay and then, today I remembered this post. When the winds shifted Friday morning, we started getting the smoke and by 2pm there was a thick blanket of over Temecula. Today, it has cleared and the temperature is much cooler. I hope everything is a little better for you.

I was thinking about you also,

after that onshore flow came in and started sending all that smoke your way. The base was smart and let it burn, they had that luxury since no houses/people where in danger- it just destroyed the air around here for a while. Nice out this morning... marine layer, not smoke. Good news for us both.

I love how people come together and help each other out when things go bad. Awesome to see! I continue to have hope for humanity :)

Wow! 4 fires have started near me since I posted this

Looks a whole lot different than it did 6hrs ago

I can't wait to return....

I sure do miss those sunsets in Oceanside!

But I sure don't miss humping 10 miles down the beach at high tide.

You didn't say it had to be beautiful...

Fargo, ND just a few a few minutes ago (to be technical- anything past the middle of that photo up is the city of West Fargo.)

How I await the end of clouds and gloom here and the pink/orange/purple sunsets I sit and look at from my balcony many nights

"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it." Confucius

Looks like a nice spot to reflect upon today and ponder tomorrow. Enjoy and thanks for letting me enjoy it as well

So much thanks for that

So much thanks for that quote! I do love the still bare trees against the grayish skyline. And the beauty of green grass again.

But Ive been looking at those bare trees since Late september. Beauty has its limits ;)

And yes, its a great spot as far as apartment living goes. Even in the dead of winter I find time to sit outside and just look.

I live in an area where a lot of apartments/condos face the backyards of houses in west fargo, we battle off on christmas lights.

I don't have

any pix of sunsets, but this was the spooky sunrise on 12-21-12

That is beautiful.

One of the hardest parts of leaving San Diego (I am a native) was leaving the bays and ocean. I miss the smells of the ocean and the barbeques as I drove on I5 or the coast highways. For most of my adult life I worked on Harbor Island or off India St. seeing the ocean views every day. We have a 14 acre pond here but it's different. Now, I see the morning and evening flights of the egrets and herons along with the visiting Canadian geese and our ducks.

Nice shot

Wish I had seen it with my own eyes

Weird, I was thinking of you when I took it...

Not in a creepy stalker kinda way... you know, because of this http://www.dailypaul.com/316124/meanwhile-off-the-west-coast...

Thanks for the compliment

It's all good...

Good energy flows and expands and it beautiful.

We should get Michael to add a category labeled " natural beauty" or Beautiful world or something like that to include awesomeness like these pics.

It's contagious and everyone has things like this they want to share. For me its getting away from dwelling on the negative which can pull us mentally and emotionally into the abyss. This type of experience you shared is uplifting and brings feelings of hope and possibility in me.....we need a lot more of that.

Thanks, beautiful thread.

This is not my photo, but it was my view for years, looking out over the Hudson each full moon. http://myhudsonvalleyproperties.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/...

I remember hearing an old wives tale:

that if a person observes the sunset daily, they would receive all the lithium a person needs per day. It was Sting who I heard it from and he even wrote a song about it: Lithium Sunset

This is what Sting had to say about this song in his lyrics book:

"A South American shaman told me that the human eye can't filter yellow light, so the lithium in direct sunlight goes straight to the brain. Quite how he knew that lithium is a constituent element in sunlight I didn't find out. He explained further that this was why it was good to watch the sun go down, to feel calm and at peace before nightfall and before the mercury falls again" (Sting 212)

Who knows?

Freedom is not: doing everything you want to.
Freedom is: not having to do what you don't want to do.
~ Joyce Meyer

Wow, how lovely

thanks for sharing this with us. I can't remember the last time I saw the sunset or sunrise. Your right we only get so many before we bite the dust.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

Thank you very much

I have a sunset "problem" lol
