How many DPers have actually experienced a UFO?

This is prompted by Sierra's claim that he saw a UFO with his two daughters.

Sierra has opinions on things that are different from mine, but I do believe him to be a screename of his word.

Remember that we're all people behind these screennames.

Perhaps I'm more receptive to this because I recently heard a flying saucer story from someone I least expected, which sounded true, and was delivered in such a way that I believed it. There was no reason to lie to me.

Here is something that is not a lie: My dad said he was from Planet X. He was big into science fiction, in the '40s. He was a reader. I wonder what he would be like, if I knew him today, at my age.

I just turned 46. 4 years prior to when he had me, at the age of 50. But ever since I was a young child, he told me that he was from Planet X. He said that one day, they would send a ship back for him. He died before it ever came, 9 years ago today - May 9, 2005.

But ever since I was a child, I've had a soft spot for UFO stories. So just tell the truth.

- Have you ever seen a UFO? If so, what was it like?

I personally never have, but I hope to one day. Then I can come back here and tell you what it was like, and you guys will all call me a liar, and then I'll just laugh in your faces, gleefully.

But let's not have any of that here. This a judgement free zone. If you're a doubter, Just go chill someplace else, kindly.

I want to hear some stories.

I was in a car when I was younger

driving through nevada and saw a light that was flying crazy low sporadically. Not sure what it was but it was the only time I ever saw something weird in the sky. It was a ufo to me since I couldn't identify it but was it carrying people from another planet? doubt it.

I don't believe we are alone in the universe but if I were an alien and saw the idiots here on earth I too would keep flying on to an actual intelligent planet.

I forgot to mention...
I drive a UFO!
It's called a BMW.
Saturday I was flying very low through the interstate in Pennsylvania.
I love speed.

Just watched a documentary

Black Box UFO Secrets on H2

I am now a believer.
Mainly because I've become so well trained (by indie media and sites like the DP )in the way the U.S. government lies and denies actual events in the last seven and a half years.

The cover-ups, "lost" documents, flubbed sanitation of flight recordings, hundreds of known files on sightings.

And most of all, the predictable way pilots are fired and black balled for reporting UFO encounters.

It's the SOP for American government to lie and hide critical information from the people who pay the phukking bills.

Personally, I don't have a radar and the accompanying devices...

to identify aircrafts. So, all are UFOs to me.

I've seen a ufo, no right

I've seen a ufo, no right angles but just a long steady movement from one horizon to the other.

The coolest thing that ever happened to me was about 3 years ago, I was outside walking and the sun was almost completely gone so it was getting dark. I kid you not, and i think it was a meteorite, there was a bright poof about 15 meters over my head just up and to the left a couple of meters from where i was standing. It just appeared and had a trail and it was a ball of fire, I was just all bug eyed thinking.. the hell!??! Because i wasnt in a very populated area. There was no sound to it either

I saw three bright red lights

moving in the sky above a field in a way I couldn't explain. My husband saw them, too. We just stopped in the road and watched them zip around each other until they zipped away.

My grandpa came in from outside one night quite pale. He said something huge had been hovering over the house and no one was to go outside. A relative suggested it was a DEA helicopter (very common in that area) and he said it wasn't anything like that. My grandpa was such a quiet guy. Sometimes when I hear these stories I can't discount the possibility the teller is a bit of an attention seeker or wanting to feel special, but those things did not remotely apply to my grandpa.

Of course, I'm one of those really odd people. I'm a fundamentalist Christian who thinks most if not all UFO sightings are garbage, but I won't reject the possibility of the existence of aliens and am very open to evidence.

At any rate, I hope aliens do turn out to exist - that way we can channel our instinct, need, and talent for conquest against something that isn't human.

UFOs are not necessarily extraterrestrial life

There is, I believe, some validity to the UFO phenomenon. That is, people are seeing things they cannot readily identify, things that elude our ability to offer neat, watertight explanations. This should be unsurprising, given the vastness and complexity of the universe in comparison to our smallness and our limited ability to understand, but in the contemporary, scientific age, there is a willingness to dismiss everything out of hand that does not conform to what is already understood.

The UFO phenomenon is, of course, nothing new. Airmen during the Second World War reported balls of light tailing their aircraft, and there was originally some concern that these balls of light were experimental weapons under development by the Germans. Looking further back, and across cultures, there are many reports, historical and legendary, of wonders or signs in the sky. Prior to our era, these were not seen as extraterrestrial beings piloting machines. Instead, they were often viewed spiritually, as marvelous apparitions of a supernatural nature, the work of the hand of the Divine, or perhaps something more sinister.

From a Christian perspective, we see that many have been led astray by the UFO phenomenon, sucked into a worldview that is essentially materialistic and focused on little green men in the heavens, rather than "Our Father who art in Heaven." As the fruit of this is bad, it is perhaps not imprudent to discern in the sightings the work of the Enemy, described in Ephesians as the "prince of the power of the air."

I've suspected for a while

that a lot of the more personal, detailed experiences with "aliens" (especially "abductions") may in fact be related somehow to demonic activity. The warriors of the Enemy have had countless ages to learn the ins and outs of human psychology, so it wouldn't shock me to find out that there was a hefty amount of demonic trickery going on. This goes doubly so for supposed ghost sightings.

That said, as noted I am very much open to the -possibility- of strictly organic extraterrestrial life, though I HIGHLY doubt the existence of sapient aliens that poke people's rectums. I would not be at all shocked, however, to find that God had placed lesser forms of life on other planets - there's a whole universe out there for us to conquer, so there's no reason for Him not to, after all.

If you play as the Nazis in the 1996 game 'Iron Storm'

on Sega Saturn, in the later stages you get a UFO to use against the Japanese.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

Yes. I have seen one

In 2005, I was outside of my parents house hanging out with 6 or 7 other people. Someone noticed a craft going across the sky, and they pointed toward it. We all were in complete shock. The object was triangular, made no noise, and was smaller than a house. Maybe the size of a very large living room. There was no exhaust coming from the craft. There was no reflection from the material it was made of. The object looked like an enormous triangular LCD TV floating across the sky and mimicking it. It was moving so slowly that we could have easily outran it. It was moving at the pace of a jog. It was close enough to hit with a tennis ball. It was only flying a few feet higher than the telephone/electric poles. It blended in to the night sky so well that it was impossible to see once it got a short distance away. It flew nearly directly over us. It never changed speed and it never made a sound. There is absolutely no way this craft was made on Earth. I strongly recommenced you check out this History Channel special called "I Know What I Saw." It contains undeniable proof that we are being visited by intelligent life from elsewhere in the universe.

Edit again lol.

I have watched 'I Know What I Saw' before. I just skimmed through it and found clips from the mass UFO sighting in Stephenville, Texas years ago, that I originally thought this was. I agree, 'I Know What I Saw' is a must watch. This is another film about Stephenville.

Another of the UFO experiences I had was in mid 2001. I don't remember the exact date, so sometime in late spring or early summer. I was with 4 of my friends, we were driving to an area ~ an hour from where we lived, to go to some local lakes. It was late night, I don't remember the exact time but I would say midnight-ish.

In the couple months or so prior, there had been a few reports in the local newspaper about "strange Orange lights in the sky" several nights, in the same general vicinity the lakes are. Orange lights that were witnessed exhibiting the usually-reported UFO-type behaviors: zooming around fast, hovering weird, not regular lights for the area.

I'm usually very observant, and it was a crystal clear night sky, so knowing we were going to the general area where those reported sightings had occured, I was being mindful to be watchful. There was hardly any light pollution, both on the way there and where the lakes are located. The sky was literally alive with stars.

On the drive to the lakes, approximately halfway between where we lived and where the concentration of lakes are, there is another individual lake. The lake is on the side of the highway and nearly adjacent a forest service access road. There are no homes in the area and no streetlights - it is very dark there in the nighttime.

We rounded the bend approaching the lake, the blackened shape of the lake subtley standing out from the forest surrounding, reflecting many of the literally countless stars far above. There was no moonlight, just stars flooding the entire sky and horizon. That night was among the brightest star filled skies I ever remember seeing.

In the tree tops, behind the far back edge of the lake - from our vantage point - my attention was immediately drawn to a bright Orange light that shouldn't have been there. It wasn't a star; it was bigger than any star. It was Orange; there were no manmade light sources in that area, especially in the tree tops.

Me: "Slow down, slow down."
Driver: "What? Why?"
Me: "I think I just saw something in the trees. Pull over.

Then I quickly brought up the newspaper reports from the month prior.

We pulled over near the start of the lake, at a spot with an unobstructed view looking lengthwise across the entire lake to the far-back tree line, where the Orange light was visible through. I sat for a few moments, staring through the windshield from the backseat passenger side then got out of the car to get a better view.

Red 'X' was me; Orange dot, the light

In Car/Lines of Sight

Out of Car/Lines of Sight

Note: I grew up enjoying my child, teen, young adult years in a place where I was regularly outside at night, and while I lived in town for many of my teen/young adult years, I was regularly out of the lit up town areas, in places where the night sky was highly visible. I'm very familiar with how planes, satellites, shooting stars, helicopters, etc. look in the night sky.

You know the feeling when you're looking at something that shouldn't conceivably be there, plus the fact that it is the exact same kind of bright Orange light that you just read newspaper reports of during the months prior of "UFOs in the sky," somewhat near that area, and that you were consciously on the lookout for any bright Orange lights in the sky that shouldn't have been there?

Yeah lol. It was a feeling of surprise and "is this for real?" I wasn't scared, because I wasn't alone. And because it wasn't menacing; I didn't get any bad vibe from it. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't definitely excited lol.

I stood there staring at the light hovering in the tree tops, in what looked to be little more than ~ 1000 feet away. The distance "it" was at - either in or behind the trees - with the landscape behind being level enough, it could've realistically been up to ~ 1 1/4 mile away. However, it looked to be almost right there, just behind/in the trees.

The light didn't move, not at all. Not side to side, back or forth, up or down. Nothing. Completely still. That was probably the weirdest thing about it: bright Orange circular light, in the dark tree tops, late night, no manmade lightsource able to be there - or should be there - completely stationary, silent. A few minutes went by - I was wanting to get closer lol.

The 4 friends I was with were 2 guys and 2 girls. The guys were brave; the girls, not so much. The girls were wanting to leave, they had that "let's just leave, I don't feel like getting abducted" tone in their voices lol. I was trying to talk all of them into taking a "quick drive" up the forest service access road into pitch dark forest to try to see that Orange light close up lol.

Myself, left, with one of the friends, right; 4 years earlier, mid 1997.

It was decided, not by me, that we were not going to go up the dirt road in the car, even though the dirt road was well maintained and would have been no problem. As we left and approached the end of the lake - to the left of where the light was - it was still slightly visible up to the right through the trees. When we were perpendicular, it wasn't because of the incline hill/trees to the right.

We continued up the highway, all the while I was staring out the windows to the right/right-front. There was no Orange light visible through the trees. ~ 1 mile up the highway, more open, still nothing. Same with looking front/right/back from ~ 1 1/4 mile. So the light was definitely back there, just off the highway several hundred feet to the right, in the tree tops of the pitch dark forest.

Past the lake ~ 1 mile

I was frustrated, I was seriously wanting to drive up that forest service road into the forest. There were 5 of us, in a reliable, fast car - I felt that we'd be safe. It was guaranteed to be some type of actual UFO, whether manmade or otherwise! But it wasn't my car, I also wasn't the decider for what my friends did or didn't want to participate in.

Some irony about the forest service access road.

In Google Maps, when taking screen captures for this, I went a few clicks up the road, as far as imagery was available, somewhat near the distance the nightime Orange light would have likely been at. I was just going to zoom back to the highway, when I panned the camera and noticed an image of an Orange late-day Sun through the trees, not too dissimilar to the Orange UFO light through the nightime trees lol!

Start of the forest service access road

Orange Sun through the trees; Orange "UFO" light was bigger

Also worth mention

While that highway at night usually isn't busy, there were no other vehicles as we approached the lake, were at the lake, drove past the lake, not until well after ~ 1 1/4 mile past. It was kind of like when you hear of other UFO/Alien stories - whether arguably legit or completely manufactured - that there was "no one else around." It wasn't necessarily uncommon for the time & location, just adds to the ????

That Orange light sighting and the other-worldy UFO sighting were not the weirdest UFO related activity I've experienced. When camping with friends when I was 11 or 12, at a kind of local, secluded island campground - different and very far from the otherworldly UFO sighting campsite - something really weird happened. It still gives me chills.

I was 20, I will never forget hanging out in my backyard drinking beers and blazing with a few of my buddies. From out of nowhere we see a giant blue ball of light floating not 20 yards away from us in the air. It proceeded to move closer to us very slowly, until it actually came within the boundaries of my backyard. That's when it shrunk to nothing.

One of the eeriest moments we have ever had. We still joke about it to this day and will never forget my buddy saying "Hey, is that the K-mart blue light special"?. Awesome. I guess that is considered a UFO.

Your story sounds like ball

Your story sounds like ball lightning. It's strange stuff, but quite identifiable.

Thanks! Had never heard of that before. Sounds eerily similar! I remember it was raining on and off that night, so that may have had something to do with it. Good stuff!

I'm reminded of a recent very vivid dream I had...

where I showed up somewhere I wasn't supposed to be & these people gave me ecstasy so I would forget. Others were being held to be molested but I was spared. I secretly spit out the second dose of ecstasy they gave me so I would remember things but the high I felt in the dream was so vivid & real. A certain male was caretaking me & preventing others from trying to hurt me. I told a friend about the dream & later he commented that it sounded like a cover for an abduction scenario. This is a friend who pondered whether he had implants because these small bumps he could feel behind each ear. While thinking about it, he walked into a local coffee shop & an acquaintance asks him, 'How are those implants treating you'...when asked why he would say that, he responded he had to idea why he did. My friend removed the bumps recently with a knife & they were these tiny magnetic specks that literally jumped away from the knife tip. I'm curious if your dad ever elaborated on why he held his beliefs.

Its a super story, manystrom...

and well worth the stop!

Even though I don't ever remember seeing a UFO proper, I have been known to frequent establishments that were out of this world.

Nope, but I saw a type of drone I have never seen anywhere.

Two years ago about 3 am I was out in my front yard and thought I heard a big bird flapping. I looked up and it was this large white glider looking thing flying low. Just right above the highest tree tops. I think I saw it's tail wing flapping. I can't remember what it was, but something was moving on it. No lights. It sounded like a fan running. Nobody in a city of a million saw it or reported it. I couldn't find any pics of exact drone anywhere online.

After searching, I found this Washington Post article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/border...

I knew what the people who see UFO's felt like. Nobody else seeing it. This was the closest thing I could find that looked like it:

Seen the " glow orb " UFO'S all over New Hampshire, it is very well documented on youtube. There have been tons of sightings in the past few years.

Yes...Just last year

I was driving up from San Diego just entering South Orange County on I5. It was a blue sky day with some clouds which I would estimate at 1500 to 2000 feet. I looked up in the sky and just outside at cluster of clouds is an object. It was not round nor ob-longed. It had on oval shape to it. Very defined shape that was Oval. It was shinny metallic like a mirror. Think about mercury or the color of the terminator in the second terminator movie.

I watched it for a good 15 seconds, diverting my eyes to and from the road. I turned to a co-worker and and said what the F is that. When I looked back I did not see it.

I don't know the size of the thing but I estimate it appeared in the sky as a size a dime would appear in your hand at the length of an out stretched arm. I flew helicopters for ten years and I have never seen anything like it. It was not a balloon or an aircraft I have ever seen. It's altitude was beyond that of the clouds. I wish my co-worker would have seen it. It was definitely a UFO but as for it's origins I have no idea.
