Sriracha CEO Compares California to Communist Vietnam

Sriracha CEO Tran escaped the Socialist Republic of Vietnam three decades ago to start a new life in America.

"Today, I feel almost the same," he says. "Even now, we live in [the] USA, and my feeling, the government, not a big difference," Tran said on Monday from his factory outside of Los Angeles. Last month the city council deemed the $80 million business a "public nuisance" for giving off a peppery odor.

Just a couple of weeks ago

Just a couple of weeks ago Toyota also said they were leaving California for Texas (the story was reported everywhere) and they apparently have no faith in the direction California is going. I'm with them.

Try some yellowbird

http://yellowbirdsauce.com/

I've been a siracha fan for a decade and eat it on everything except popcicles and bubblegum. Someone turned me on to yellowbird and it's become a clear rival in my pantry. Great stuff, check it out. Different 'burn' altogether.

It costs a small ransom to get it though.

Currently consuming: Gatto: "Underground history of education..", FDR; Wii U; NEP Football

im a weakling for hot foods

I love siracha's flavor but the burn is too unbearable after a few bites.

I wish these companies can make the flavor without sending me to the water faucet. that yellowbird looks great but I know to avoid anything that says 'habanero.'

My ebay account was nuked

My ebay account was nuked yesterday. Says I now have selling restrictions and cannot sell anymore. Why?Because my Wife has an acct that uses the same address.

1400 transactions 100% feedback over 10 years and now I can't sell on ebay. I spoke to a "Yolanda" who told me that my business doesn't fit with ebay and I'm banned from selling accordingly.

What country is this?

Oh, and I own a company IN Vietnam ( part owners ) for over 13 years.

Good lord if they closed that plant

I would not be able to bring myself to eat another chicken wing :(

I am SO addicted to that stuff, and it gives me none of the plumbing problems that American style hot sauce does.

same here

It goes with everything. I love it on eggs.

Try it on mashed potatoes or

Try it on mashed potatoes or sushi. It's great stuff.

I haven't tried Sriracha on sushi, but I probably should

I had it on homemade potato salad today for lunch, so I concur with the 'mashed potatoes' sentiment. :)

The U.S government is not

The U.S government is not only acting like a communist government, but much worse.

There is a fish sauce in Vietnam that smell much worse than Sriracha, and I don't see Vietnamese government politicizing their fish sauce factories across Vietnam.

So you see, he escaped from a communist country to only find himself in a much worse one.

Go eat some PHO!

Tell the city council to go eat some Pho.

Or go Pho Itself

I can't compare my experience with vietnam

but I moved my company away from the peoples republic of california.

funny

if instead of chillis, the smell came from bird feces and decaying algae from a nearby bird sanctuary, then they would have given him a 5 year grant to help them clean up the smell.

I know because that's what happened in my city.

but because it is an evil corporation they resolve to boot him out entirely.

I can relate

The Asian half of my family spent 2 generations running from the exact same thing. First it was in China, then Vietnam.

At least we haven't resorted to killing off business owners here......yet. Overseas is a diff story. Here at home the gov just kills off businesses and jobs.

You will have to pry my sriracha
