Mom, why do I have to go to school?

Alternate answer for mom:

Because The State has made it extremely difficult to keep our home, car, and bills paid without both Dad and I working. Also, the State has encouraged the breakdown of the family into the nuclear unit, (mom, dad, kids,) so aunts and Grandma are 1000's of miles away.

Or if Mom wants to tell the truth..

"Dad and I have been mesmerized with marketing and commercials telling us that we need to not only keep up with the Jones, but we need to spend more money than them. We don't have the money to keep up with them so we NEED to use debt to fulfill our goals. In order to make the payments for things we really don't need, we both must work and leave you in the hands of big government to raise and train in their image. It's a choice that had to be made and we made that choice."

Sorry, I don't blame anything but the people for the situation we are in. Government isn't to blame, banks aren't to blame, schools aren't to blame, we the people are to blame for following the wide road rather than the narrow path.

;) I didn't say mom was necessarily truthful.

There *is* a grain of truth to my post, however. I agree with your point that 'We the People' are to blame for taking wide road as a whole. However, there are plenty of folks like my mom and dad who both worked, not to keep up with the Jones, but to provide a decent standard of living and maintain their property. They never took loans to buy a car, always payed cash. Though we went to public schools, mom and dad were deeply involved in our school and our lives, teaching us to be independent from government and to think for ourselves.

Frankly, I give them a large degree of credit for instilling the values that cause me to homeschool today.

Don't wait.

Make everyday a learning experience for your kids (emphasis on experience).

Does not have to be elaborate...enjoy your kids.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

When you realize the education system is the golden goose which creates obedient, thoughtless adults to be used as human resources you will opt out of the system and encourage everyone you know to do the same.
