Just watched a great fairy tale: Curiosity with Stephen Hawking

Curiosity with Stephen Hawking, Did God Create the Universe

According to Steve everything is from nothing and nothing is everything. We are all zero :) The one that topped the cake was that the big bang was caused by nothing. Okay Steve just make me one small rock from nothing.... Leave alone a universe.

Not one ounce of science in the production it was simply a fairy tale :)

Yeah,

but you got to hear that cool computer voice for a while, right? Wouldn't it be great if he were just some remote controlled android puppet.

That seeming nothingness, is

That seeming nothingness, is actually the universal Spirit, otherwise known as God. The ancient Hindus knew this.

Such great fun!

Thanks for putting it up.
Vivid, compelling, inspiring.
As for the alleged reality of the universe, Steven Hawking, ChristianAnarchist, or Stop Signs, we have to go with the most coherent and consistent evidence. Photographs, transcripts, dissertations, citations, the index of refraction or the coefficient of restitution... it all adds up into a comprehensible framework that you either believe or you don't. The key is our trust of our own ability to reason and our senses, and only we can decide if it's all a solipsistic nightmare or we are each spontaneous clumps in Schroedinger's Cat Box, or part of Allah's great plan.

How do I know Steven Hawkings is real??

How do I know Steven Hawkings is real?? I see a man in a wheelchair who is paralyzed. It's a very sad sight for sure but how do I know that computer voice isn't being controlled by someone else? I could see someone in the "intelligence" community taking advantage of a professor who suffers from a debilitating illness to use him as a propaganda tool to promote an agenda. I read the book "A Brief History of Time" many years ago and if that was written by him, in that book he admitted that when it comes to the ultimate creation instant, there is no science to explain it and a "God" is a valid a theory as any other (or something like that). Of course now "he" is promoting a different direction and it's certainly possible that "he" changed his mind, but it's also possible that "he" has been taken over by the borg and no longer has a say in what the computer voice spews out...

Beware the cult of "government"...

You have to wounder. He is

You have to wounder. He is the only person I have ever seen with his voice setup. Are there others?

The Creation and the WORD of God

Stephen Hawking's problem:
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Colossians 1
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Call me crazy, but...

I've always thought, what if he is just a practical joke being played on the masses? What if there's a man behind the keyboard playing a huge hoax? Let's take this "vegetable" and present him to the masses as a genius-how can we prove that he's not? It's like trying to disprove a negative. Eg. God-shouldn't the proof be on the believer, and not the non-believer? Just a thought.

The answer to the question is YES

God did create the Univers. Now let anyone who wants prove me wrong.

Not really. The burden of proof is on the claim maker.

You claim that God created the universe. Prove it.

Neither provable or disprovable, I'm afraid

Well, my understanding is someone did prove that we are neither able to prove or disprove any such statement, using our current state of science - ever since the 1930s:

I shall add this in no way prevents anyone from believing or to not believe if they can't/decide not to.

Faith and science are independent, IMO.

Also, as much as some people aren't really interested in faith, others aren't really interested in science. The (big) pitfall is people from both/either groups sometimes don't even realize it.

Hmmm. What does it take?

It appears Mr. Hawkins did a fine job proving you "wrong"in this video. It's not that you're wrong, it's a matter of perceiving reality on your own chosen terms. This is what freedom is all about.

Enjoy the ride.

Proved? He in fact filled the

Proved? He in fact filled the video with unproven tales. It takes a bunch of faith to believe what he said. Proof would be making just one small pebble from nothing. It doesn't need to be a whole planet to prove the theory. Worm holes, black hole evolution, negative energy, prove it...

Tales?

I've read and followed Christianity for years. The hardest mile was coming to terms that Christianity is a "tale". My family has distance themselves from me only because the truth has truly set me free. Oh and what a feeling. I have nothing to prove my friend. Just living my reality.

Enjoy.

Nonsensical

The Scientific Method has basically three requirements:

1) Observe an event
2) Repeat the event
3) Show falsifiability

Something creating itself from nothing has never been observed. There isn't a shred of evidence that anything has ever created itself. This is philosophy, not science.

Reminds me of an old joke...

God was sitting in heaven one day when a scientist said to Him, “God, we don’t need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing – in other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning.”

“Oh, is that so? Explain…”, replied God. “Well,” said the scientist, “we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man.”

“Well, that’s very interesting… show Me.”

So the scientist bent down to the earth and started to mold the soil into the shape of a man. “No, no, no…”, interrupted God, “Get your own dirt.”

you know the McDonalds website has a great break down on nutrition and healthy eats.
I suggest everyone visit them for some good facts.

Sometimes

Physicists should just stick with physics.

Are plumbers good car mechanics? I mean it's possible, but are you taking your car to a plumber to rebuild your transmission? No.

Just like Steven Hawking should stay out of theology.

GOD is a scientist

The Universe is science and mathematics.

No doubt about it the

No doubt about it the greatest scientist of them all.

Give me this rather than a

Give me this rather than a stone age book that was written by peasants that was under either a grave misunderstanding, or they was just stupid.

Just because one is afraid of something, doesn't mean it's true.

This is our best, evidence, science based guess at how this life has arisen, But i understand, you probably don't believe in germ theory either.

Stupid peasants? Who could

Stupid peasants? Who could feed, cloth, and shelter themselves? Heck 80% of the current population wouldn't last a month without Walmart.

Yes, stupid peasants that

Yes, stupid and immoral peasants that could do that, but that could also kill their child because of a voice in their head.

Today the peasants still kill

Today the peasants still kill children, peasants under the name of drone operators, police, solders, parents, criminals, and all sorts. What is your point? Oh now it is in the name of freedom, democracy, bad childhood, stress, oh and voices in the head. We are so much more moral today :)

My point is religion can make

My point is religion can make MOTHERS sacrafice their babies for a voice in their head. Yes drones are bad too, but you can't argue that its worse than sacrificing your own son because you have schizophrenia.

that's kinda the problem here...

Science doesn't have a viable way to explain how life began. Evolution can only be used to explain how certain species came about, and what we tend to be given as an alternative to creation is a dressed up version of spontaneous generation. Spontaneous generation was a theory that existed in the dark ages to explain how maggots got on meat and other small life suddenly came into existence because we didn't have microscopes to see fly eggs and such. The basic gist of it was "They just sort of appeared there because they have a tendency to" or "They were hidden within the meat the whole time and just now came out" like animals are secretly filled with maggots or something. What we are told when we ask where life comes from with science is similar. "It just sort of happened because conditions were right," never minding that they don't really know what conditions would have needed to be for such a thing because science cannot know by definition.

Every theory that i've heard tends to invoke Spontaneous Generation in some way. Many don't think so but they don't turn back the clock enough on it. "We came from one celled organisms..." which came from where? "Bacteria from space seeded the planet." Bacteria from where and how did they form? Seriously there isn't even a viable way to naturally create amino acids that doesn't use an atmosphere you'd more likely find on Neptune. Science fails on origins and until it makes a time machine so they can actually go back and observe it, it will always fail. Spontaneous Generation should never be used as a cop out to save the dogmas of science.

its awesome knowing everything, we are so right

He is so overrated...

Not sure why everything he says is taken as Buddha insight just because he has a bunch of fancy degrees. I agree, not much science in his ramblings, in my humble opinion.
