IRS Says 'Lost' Lois Lerner Emails... Rep asks NSA for metadata...

Stockman asks NSA for Lois Lerner metadata after IRS claims ‘glitch’ erased all incriminating emails
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Stockman Friday asked the National Security Agency to turn over all its metadata on the email accounts of former Internal Revenue Service Exempt Organizations division director Lois Lerner for the period between January 2009 and April 2011.

The request comes just hours after the IRS claimed it “lost” all of Lerner’s emails to or from Lerner and outside agencies or groups during that period, in which she allegedly coordinated with the White House, House Democrats and political groups to harass and deny tax-exempt status to groups critical of the President. The IRS blames a “computer glitch” for erasing the emails which could have implicated Agency employees in illegal activity.

“I have asked NSA Director Rogers to send me all metadata his agency has collected on Lois Lerner’s email accounts for the period which the House sought records,” said Stockman. “The metadata will establish who Lerner contacted and when, which helps investigators determine the extent of illegal activity by the IRS.”

“The claim incriminating communications were erased by a glitch conjures memories of Rose Mary Woods,” said Stockman. “Barack Obama has brought us Jimmy Carter’s economy and Richard Nixon’s excuses.”

IRS Claims to Have Lost Over 2 Years of Lerner Emails
Washington, Jun 13 | 1 comments
Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement regarding the Internal Revenue Service informing the Committee that they have lost Lois Lerner emails from a period of January 2009 – April 2011. Due to a supposed computer crash, the agency only has Lerner emails to and from other IRS employees during this time frame. The IRS claims it cannot produce emails written only to or from Lerner and outside agencies or groups, such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices.

“The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRS’s response to Congressional inquiries. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.

“Just a short time ago, Commissioner Koskinen promised to produce all Lerner documents. It appears now that was an empty promise. Frankly, these are the critical years of the targeting of conservative groups that could explain who knew what when, and what, if any, coordination there was between agencies. Instead, because of this loss of documents, we are conveniently left to believe that Lois Lerner acted alone. This failure of the IRS requires the White House, which promised to get to the bottom of this, to do an Administration-wide search and production of any emails to or from Lois Lerner. The Administration has repeatedly referred us back to the IRS for production of materials. It is clear that is wholly insufficient when it comes to determining the full scope of the violation of taxpayer rights.”

Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Charles Boustany Jr., M.D. (R-LA) added, "In the course of the Committee's investigation, the Administration repeatedly claimed we were getting access to all relevant IRS documents. Only now - thirteen months into the investigation - the IRS reveals that key emails from the time of the targeting have been lost. And they bury that fact deep in an unrelated letter on a Friday afternoon. In that same letter, they urge Congress to end the investigations into IRS wrongdoing. This is not the transparency promised to the American people. If there is no smidgeon of corruption what is the Administration hiding?"

They are full of crap

by law the feds are required to backup every email and document on another remote server. It doesn't matter if they lost her whole computer. Those files are archived automatically and are easily retrieved. Guess they didn't figure people would know how they are required to operate.

Reminds me of the 'divine right of kings', and almost as

My thought re "lost" #IRS emails: How about scrapping the tax code & abolishing the IRS so that we don't care? #tcot #tlot #IRSscandal

He believes in the national sales tax/flat tax

The same thing the Kochtapus and Foster Frieze want: "Balanced Budget" Amendment, aka "Fairtax", aka flat tax, aka national sales tax, aka constitutional convention.

last thing we want is a CON

last thing we want is a CON CON.

is this the same

thing Rand wants?

honestly, i have no head for this stuff, but i know i don't care for the whole idea of taxes.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

Yes, the "lost" e-mails story is outrageous BS...

...but the REAL outrage is the misapplication of the income tax to the earnings of people to whom it does not apply (most Americans). This has been going on for decades and is a far bigger story. Learn more about it here...

Where is this story?

I typed
"Lost Irs Learner emails "New York Times"" in start page and received 1150 hits.

I typed
"Lost Nixon Tapes "New York Times"" and got 34121 hits.

What gives? Most the Learner hits were blogs and I never did find "nytimes" in the list.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

Another One "Under the Bus"___

___ sung to the tune of "Another one bites the dust"; by Queen.

Lois Lerner's email surely would have implicated many and totally negated any of the press conference BS that had been spewed upon us.

Iran-Contra resulted in "trusted public servants" doing prison time, all as an act of "loyalty" to the "Administration".

However, back then the Justice Dept. was more responsive to the public furor over coverups, whereas today, Eric Holder is in on the joke.

All at the expense of the American citizen/taxpayer.

Perhaps a massive "opt out of paying taxes movement" needs to be deployed to force a real investigation/prosecution.
........Fat chance of that happening.

This "loss" of data and then

This "loss" of data and then using the unconstitutional records collected on all of us by the NSA to recover them???

There is just too much wrong with this whole thing... I don't have time to break down all the irony in this today.

I was all for shutting down the Utah data center. Now maybe it should simply be re-tasked to watch every movement and communication of every government employee and official 24/7(AND BACK IT UP). Want to work for the government,? Expect no privacy. The price of making your living off the backs of others. I nominate Will Binney and Ed Snowden to set it up.

They lost all the backups too?

Wow. That's an amazing glitch.

I've never seen such a selective and thorough glitch - ever.

Get the metadata, then subpoena every address she communicated

The IRS can't 'lose' the copies they don't have...

The nsa forgot to connect their software to the IRS

I can see the next scandel coming...

a mile away.

Obomba, is going to call the head of the NSA and tell him to refuse to release the "stuff". This goes all the way to the White House.

So then we will get more "hearings". Obomba will lawyer up and ride out his last two years playing "beat the clock".

In the end, Obomba will ride away into the sunset where he will command a million bucks a speech.

What a world...

Next scandal followed by next

Next scandal followed by next distraction. Once the IRS email scandal heats up, obama will take a selfie with jaze and Beyonce, which will be on front page of all MSM sites and print...IRS emails will be forgotten.

I'm reluctant to ask the NSA

but I'd pay the Chinese for the information.

Next April 15th

I'll just tell the IRS that my computer glitch is responsible for not having a 1040...let's see if they'll find that reason acceptable.

The closer we get to the truth...

The closer we get to the truth the more they lie and the more they squirm. From what I know this should not be a difficult thing to recover by a some what skilled IT person. With the vast amount of skilled people available this should be a non issue. The excuse of "The computer ate my homework" doesn't fly and is a last ditch effort to avoid the truth. They must be really desperate to think that this will work. They must be ready to pass out the poison pills and swords to fall on. This is just getting ready to be interesting, pass the popcorn!

Words Can Not

describe this shit anymore. Does this really surprise anyone? Of course not we are accustomed to prison camera malfunctions when an inmate dies, police cruiser dash cam malfunctions in light of accusations for wrong doing, prosecutors withholding evidence from the defense when it favors a defendant, and a whole plethora of other miraculous coincidences.

We are so blessed to witness our government god perform so many miracles or miraculous coincidences right before our very eyes. If I hadn't seen it all with my own eyes I might be a government god denier and commit heresy by questioning the divinity of government. However, as it stands right now the sheer volume of miracles or miraculous coincidences performed in my lifetime leaves no room for doubt that government is unquestionably divine.
