In a landmark decision, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (tm) has ruled that the terms 'Democrat' and 'Republican' are offensive to Native Americans and all the other Americans and will no longer be protected by force of copyright law.
"The words 'democrat' and 'republican' have a long history of racist connotations," reads the statement published by the office "in addition, the definitions of these words has changed dramatically since their inception over a hundred years or ago, to the point that they are now more often hurled as epithets than used in polite conversation, and as such are no longer appropriate political team names."
The National Governmentball League (NGL) has yet to announced if it will appeal the decision.
