:*Predictable Outcome* ...The Obama Administration Claims The IRS Hard Drives Were Destroyed

Once again the state of Corruption in DC (Especially as concerns the Obama administration) is alarmingly high. The IRS is claiming "Lois Lerner's e-mails likely gone forever." (Right, and crooks don't intentionally destroy incriminating evidence) Orrin Hatch of Utah stated in a hall way interview: "“We’ve been informed that the hard drive has been thrown away,”

This is breaking the law.

The credibility of the Nation's government, the oligharchy, is exposed.
The people are stirring. Is it enough?

We don't need no stinking emails. The crimes are clear. Start at the top of the IRS. If she wants to hang separately, let her.

Wasn't Nixon impeached over a similar scandal, that had much less affect on the american people???????

If establishment and neo-con Republicans wanted to

They could easily retrieve the information from the NSA.

The fact is, they don't want to. Why do you suppose that is?

IRS Office of Safeguards Technical Assistance Memorandum
Protecting Federal Tax Information (FTI) In a Cloud Computing Environment

September 2012 Update

"As agencies look to reduce costs and improve reliability of business operations, cloud computing may offer promise as an alternative to traditional data center models. By utilizing the following cloud service models, agencies may be able to reduce hardware and personnel costs by eliminating redundant operations and consolidating resources. Cloud services offered by third party providers are often tailored to provide agencies with very precise environments to meet their operating needs.

An agency’s cloud implementation is a combination of a service model and a deployment model. NIST SP 800-145 outlines the possible service models that may be employed during a cloud implementation:

•Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS).

The capability provided to the consumer is to use the provider’s applications running on a cloud infrastructure. The applications are accessible from various client devices through a thin client interface such as a web browser (e.g., web-based email). The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, servers, operating systems, storage, or even individual application capabilities, with the possible exception of limited user-specific application configuration settings."

Regulations concerning Federal Record keeping:

Agency Recordkeeping Requirements

What records are required to provide for adequate documentation of agency business?
To meet their obligation for adequate and proper documentation, agencies must prescribe the creation and maintenance of records that:

(a) Document the persons, places, things, or matters dealt with by the agency.

(b) Facilitate action by agency officials and their successors in office.

(c) Make possible a proper scrutiny by the Congress or other duly authorized agencies of the Government.

(d) Protect the financial, legal, and other rights of the Government and of persons directly affected by the Government's actions.

(e) Document the formulation and execution of basic policies and decisions and the taking of necessary actions, including all substantive decisions and commitments reached orally (person-to-person, by telecommunications, or in conference) or electronically.

(f) Document important board, committee, or staff meetings."

But of course, no matter how many laws there are, the law makers will use your money (including the value they steal from it by printing whatever they need out of thin air) to fight in court until they can rewrite them to allow their own exemption.

Oh, and this delay will also allow the next president (be they Republican or Democrat) to pardon the prior administrations law breakers.

Thank you, Swifty

Great comments merit bumps. I for one, have had it with the 'dog ate my textbook' defense. The book should be thrown with great force at them.

I hate it when Swifty is right.

Because it hurts.

So, what we need to know

is who ordered Lerner to launch the investigations on C3 groups. I think we need to look at ALL emails to or from Lerner and the prez, his staff, and the leadership of both repub and dem members of congress. Or are all of those emails gone too.

No problem, Just ask the NSA for the records.

They made them clearly capable.

At this point ...

... it is obvious that Eric Holder, at the very least, is engaging in obstruction of justice, on multiple issues, including a refusal to investigate (much less prosecute) the IRS crimes.

Last time I checked, obstruction of justice is kinda sorta a crime ... like in "high crimes and misdemeanors" ... as in engaging in criminal activity while holding high office ... as in grounds for impeachment.

Impeachment proceedings should begin against Holder. After that, Barry is up to bat.

But since the GOP clowns running the show hate the tea party (especially after Cantor getting his a** handed to him), the last damn thing they want to do is anything that would help the tea party type folks.

As with everything else, the corrupt Barry cronies and their Republican leadership co-conspirators are just playing "run out the clock" until the statute of limitations runs out.

I just lost my W-4's. I will find them once the emails are recovered and disclosed to the public.

The W-4s have been contributed to our community's recycling

efforts, So sorry (not!) but they went for a good cause....

This whole thing is such a joke. Emails aren't stored on

local hard-drives.

Emails are stored on email servers and the device accesses the servers to pull down copies of the emails when necessary. This is how you access the same emails from various devices like your phone, computer and tablet.

So even if the copy of the emails on her local hard drive are lost, the originals on the email server should still exist. In fact, the email server likely has thousands of incremental back-ups stored across multiple drives and back-up tapes stored off-site for disaster recovery reasons.

Issa and Hatch are either the dumbest investigators ever or they don't want to find these emails and are using this as the excuse to stop looking.

I bet anything that both republicans and democrats conspired to bring down Tea Party groups and neither party want's these emails to be discovered and this is their joint effort to make it look like they tried. Lerner will never be punished as she was doing favors for both parties.

I work at a K-12 educational organization, and there are regulations
about email. Our email is "journaled" to an Archive Server. There
are Daily, Weekly and Monthly backups of the Archive... multiple sets
of each, in case of some mishap... these backups are stored on a
power hardened SAN, across dozens of striped hard drives. The loss of
any one hard drive means nothing... you swap out the bad one with a
spare, and in 1 hour the contents lost to the drive failure are restored.

If the IRS doesn't have systems 1000 times more capable than my company,
then there should be a wave of mass firings for IT Incompetence.

Even our workstations are full backed up weekly... followed by daily
incremental backups... so even our workstations can be restored if
needed. Jeesh!

Start the waterboarding ASAP !

I bet the NSA could locate these e-mails

Can't congress subpoena the metadata?

Be careful what you wish for

What you're describing would, in some sense, legitimize the NSA's data collection

At least we have probable cause to do it

might as well turn the tables

We are not legitimizing the NSA

Just giving them a taste of their own medicine.

We should have seen this coming- Bump

Next steps, anyone?

Who gave the orders?

Track each IT person and how they were contacted. Who gave the instructions. Those records should be there.

If John Koskinen told anyone to delay disclosure until the hard drives were recycled through "normal channels" nail his ass to the wall for obstruction of justice.

This makes me madder than the crime of harassing organizations and trying to rig an election.
