Congress hits new low: Only 7% have confidence in the institution

USA Today: Americans have confidence in the military, small business and the police. Congress? Not so much, a new Gallup Poll says.

A record-low 7% of Americans say they have “a great deal” and “quite a lot” of confidence in Congress — the lowest-rated institution among the 17 entities tested in Gallup’s confidence survey. Public schools, banks, newspapers and television news all rate higher than the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

The military is at the top end of the scale, with 74% of Americans saying they have faith in that institution, followed by small business (62%) and the police (53%). No other institution in business, government or society that was tested garnered at least a majority in the poll.

In some ways, it’s not surprising that there’s very little trust in Congress given the institution’s low job-approval ratings in recent years. There’s also the fact that just 8% of Americans believe Congress is honest and ethical.

Americans are fucking idiots if they have confidence

in the police. This article lost me in the first sentence.

...and honestly, the 7% number couldn't be true if states are re-electing people like Lindsey Graham. I have heard of only a small handful of primary upsets...so how could that 7% number be correct? I dont believe it.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

The rest of us should be

The rest of us should be REALLY worried about the sanity, and mental stability of those 7%.

These jokers only have 7% more to go.

November is right around the corner.

What's new?

They could have a 2% approval rating, and still 95% would get re-elected because nobody in America believes it is "their" CONgress critter, it's always the other ones. Besides, they already recognize that name on the ballot AND it comes from the party they promise to vote for. Whatever could go wrong with such well informed voters?
