It's not the casualties, it's the presence...

err, it's not American presence, it's casualties. Which one is better? Casualties or presence? Or is it presents?

What does that mean anyway and who told him to keep using that line? He sounds like the jackass that he is.

Someone should create a video showing

the economic casualties in or country - because of the war.

Sounds like

He is saying casualties are not important. How in the world does that win him votes?

As a Marine this guy causes me to

get mad just by looking at him, with his shit kicking grin while using my brothers as cannon fodder, and to think i used to hold this guy in such respect. How he let washington change him.

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote."

What he was trying to say (very poorly) was that it's OK to have

a presence as long as there are no casualties (people getting hurt or killed).

But I agree with your argument, if there's no violence, you don't need a presence. If there is violence, you will have casualties.

In the old days they used to have bases in order to be able to strike quickly at nearby enemies. But with aircraft carriers and cruise missiles, are bases even needed anymore?

Go President Paul!

’In accordance with the principles of double-think it does not matter if the war is not real. For when it is, victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, but it is meant to be continuous.’ (George Orwell, 1984)

McCain Combat experience is skewed

McCain burns me up when he states that is is possible to have US bases in other countries, and maintain the occupation of Iraq, because we have "stabilized" the country due to the surge and made it safe for US troops.
Here's a question--If the country is so safe for US troops, why do we have them there then???

Now McCain was a Navy pilot in Vietnam, He was stationed on a aircraft carrier. He did no have to worry about the VC mortaring him at night. He did not have to worry about walking down the street in Saigon, that is supposed to be BEHIND enemy lines, and get offed by a VC throwing a grenade. In Vietnam, there WHERE NO SAFE ZONES! The Tet offensive proved that the VC could strike anywhere in South Vietnam, despite the assurances by General Westmoreland that we were winning the battle due to "body counts" A quick lesson here--When you hear the news media trumpeting enemy body counts, you know that we are NOT winning. Wars are not won by body counts--Vietnam proved that.
Especially when innocent civilians are thrown in the "body count" as enemy combatants to pad the numbers to make the Generals look good.

There is NO safe zones in Iraq! There are NO safe zones anywhere with terrorists using asymmetrical warfare. The clothing of the local natives is their camouflage. The middle east is not like Korea, where you have a designated DMZ that separates you from the enemy. It is not like the former Cold War, where the Iron Curtain separates the Soviets from the NATO troops.

So for McCain to claim he has the military experience to protect our troops is ludicrous--Being a former pilot with of only 20 hours of combat experience does not qualify him to command boots on the ground--especially in unconventional warfare!

in last night's debate

Ron Paul says (to applause) we can't afford empire

Then 2 minutes later McCain states that as the world's only superpower we are going to have to police the world and to add insult to stupidity, cites the long lasting presence in Kuwait and Korea....

I think his running mate will be Al Zeihmer...
