Can't do your taxes because the dog ate your hard drive? If Congressman Stockman's bill passes, you won't have to worry!

Congressman Stockman introduces bill to grant taxpayers same excuse as IRS

WASHINGTON, June 20, 2014– Can’t do your taxes because the dog ate your hard drive? No problem! According to a press release from Congressman Steve Stockman (R- Texas), taxpayers who do not produce documents for the Internal Revenue Service will be able to offer a variety of dubious excuses under new legislation he introduced a week after the IRS offered an incredibly dubious excuse for its failure to turn documents over to House investigators.

“The United States was founded on the belief government is subservient and accountable to the people. Taxpayers shouldn’t be expected to follow laws the Obama administration refuses to follow themselves,” said Stockman. “Taxpayers should be allowed to offer the same flimsy, obviously made-up excuses the Obama administration uses.”

Under Stockman’s bill, “The Dog Ate My Tax Receipts Act,” taxpayers who do not provide documents requested by the IRS can claim one of the following reasons:

1. The dog ate my tax receipts
2. Convenient, unexplained, miscellaneous computer malfunction
3. Traded documents for five terrorists
4. Burned for warmth while lost in the Yukon
5. Left on table in Hillary’s Book Room
6. Received water damage in the trunk of Ted Kennedy’s car
7. Forgot in gun case sold to Mexican drug lords
8. Forced to recycle by municipal Green Czar
9. Was short on toilet paper while camping
10.At this point, what difference does it make?

Hmmm..

Wouldn't it be even NICER IF WE ALL NEW WHAT THE LAW ACTUALLY SAYS ABOUT WHO OWES THE INCOME TAX AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

I suggest people read Dave Champion's Book "Income Tax: Shattering the Myths" to learn the truth about the income tax!

Indefectible point.

I'm sure most of the people

I'm sure most of the people on this site aren't "taxpayers", and aren't subject to the income tax but probably either don't know it, are are too afraid to act on the knowledge. The truth is out there and it is spreading. The days of the IRS are numbered most certainly. They (congress) should probably switch to another tax system soon before too many more people discover the sham.

Stockman's bill is VERY

Stockman's bill is VERY important for this reason. His legislation clearly demonstrates what a preposterous JOKE ALL branches of the federal government have become. States should clearly IGNORE any legislation, rulings, or executive actions coming out of Washington, DC. In essence, states should simply view the terminal joke of Washington, DC as a de facto act of secession. If the federal government tries to enforce their preposterous jokes, then the states retain their right of self-defense.

It depends on what the meaning

of the word requested is.

How about a bill

that allows State Attorney Generals to prosecute federal civil servants and elected officials in State Court using Federal law?

Make it also for paying all taxes

that would be awesome.

Congressman Stockman is a smartass, often on the right side

Congressman Stockman is a smartass, often on the right side.

I agree with someone below that he maybe could have done better, earlier, but it's better than nothing.

Plus derision and mockery can also be powerful, counter-subversive helpers for the people, against the corrupt legislators.

We "only" have to keep it coming to them, steadily.

Good joke but, seriously, why

Good joke but, seriously, why not instead spend that time to write up a real Bill that does something about the IRS issues?

What it probably boils down to is that the joke is really on us.

...

They don't follow laws. They

They don't follow laws. They are a criminal gang. Why would anyone expect that, other than a warm fuzzy you might get when one of the criminals passes a law that points at them instead of us, it would accomplish anything? They WONT FOLLOW IT.

Its a gang of criminals. That's all a government is. Its all they have ever been. They are gangsters who exist only because they STEAL your money. They cage us for what we ingest, what we think. Laws are for YOU, not them. The gang does not punish itself. You cannot expect the foxes to guard the hen house. This is not working.

Asking these criminals to follow a law is like expecting a mass shooter to stop and turn around because he saw a "Gun Free Zone" sign. Not only is it pointless and not going to work, at this point, its getting ridiculous. Its starting to make US look like naive idiots every time we expect some new piece of paper to stop the march of tyranny.

But then what about Ron Paul

But then what about Ron Paul and all those years he spent in government? I agree that as a whole gov has done some really bad things but RP shows me that they aren't all bad.

All it takes is one of them to write up a serious Bill to address one or more issues. The jokester is trying to make a point, but not trying to make real impactful change.

The lost email issue, for example, can be settled permanently for any future issues as the current. Just make a new law which mandates real time immediate copies with multiple backups of all inbound & outbound emails at the server level. So the same for text messaging for IRS employees. Make this a requirement for all job related communications, even telephone. Mandate serious penalties for those who circumvent the system.

Something else they could do is create a Bill to make everything the IRS does along with all their communication records OPEN to Congress in real time. All their notes, plans, memos, etc, etc. Any member should at any time be able to watch over anything done by any employee in the IRS. All the information should be at Congress' fingertips.

A Bill could be written to mandate a secure process for storing failed hard drives for a long period of time. Just in case they are needed at some point in the future. Decommissioned but working hard drives could be imaged then recycled.

It's easy to make real impactful change, if they wanted to. But what we end up getting are just jokes so some member of Congress can make a point & maybe get a little TV time.

...

I just want to add; believers

I just want to add; believers in gang dominance (aka: governments) always accuse volunteerists like me who don't believe in having a government of being "lawless." There is no social structure on the planet more lawless than a government. Law in a tyranny becomes completely arbitrary, subject to the ever changing whims of your rulers and NEVER applies to the elite class.

The peasants go to jail for breaking any one of a million random and contradictory laws on the "books." When was the last time you ever saw a central banker or congressman go to jail for breaking a law that you or I would have been sent to prison over?

Until law applies to everyone equally in a society, and until law is restricted to the NAP; meaning, it is only crime to violate one's right to life, liberty & property, than there is no law. Only tyrannical control. Being commanded by a master is not the same as "law."

Our constitution makes nearly

Our constitution makes nearly everything our government does illegal. They still do it.

Every law that gets in the way of what the government wants to do is broken, than the criminal protection racket we call the "Court system" rules in favor of the government by twisting the words of the law in some obscene way to pave the way for ignoring it all together.

Governments don't follow laws any more than shooters listen to Gun Free Zone signs. Its pointless and silly.

Because Because Because

First you need to get the peoples' attention...
Then you get them fired up...
Then when you say, "Let's get rid of the IRS." The people think it's their idea and clamor for a law to pass.
