I'm more concerned about

I'm more concerned about where we are going than where we came from.

You should always know where you came from

How else will you know if where you are going is better?

We came from our parents and we go wherever our ancestors went

I submit that there is no way to really "know," only speculate based on one's knowledge and experiences. I think that humility regarding our belief systems is important because we can alter them as we read more books, have more experiences, become wiser, etc. Discussion flows better when we're not all claiming we've found the one right way. (Btw I didn't down vote)

you are damn right! We did

you are damn right! We did not come from nothing alright; its impossible to come from nothing. We came from GOD! who came from nothing!

Funny how they all miss the

Funny how they all miss the basic failure of that argument and why every time they make it, they actually prove themselves wrong. It's impossible! Except for my Magic Sky Fairy! What? The cognitive dissonance is at 11!

The funny thing is as a person of science I have to leave open the possibility they are right. There's no evidence they are right, but I must leave open the possibility. They don't do the same. It's IMPOSSIBLE they are wrong in their minds. Therefor they never actually consider any other arguments. They simply try and reverse-engineer everything to keep their simple view of the universe intact.

The ironic thing is this is typical human behavior in more than just religious beliefs and it's a mechanism that EVOLVED to aid our survival. It's a way to reduce anxiety in a world not everyone can comprehend and make sense of. In that way it's similar to the "everyone deserves a trophy" mentality. Not everyone is smart enough to comprehend advanced science, math, and statistical analysis, but even small children can understand simple stories. That way they can tell themselves they are just as smart as the 150 IQ scientist.

I'm glad at least you

I'm glad at least you recognized the sarcasm, as some below you did not.

Since you asked the question

Whats the difference between a person who was alive and one who is dead of no apparent cause in a 5 minute span.

Its because the biological computer ceases to function without "consciousness" driving the machine.

so now you say wheres your proof that consciousness exists...?

Maybe you should check out the double slit experiment that started Quantum physics and come back with an explanation how an observer can change the behavior of light. how's that possible Would it be something to do with consciousness having an effect on the light?

If life happened by chance, wouldn't we see evidence of these self organized mechanisms happening somewhere on our planet or on mars or maybe the moon?.. Some half evolved building block of a cell organelle.. some advanced protein. The universe has been around for 14 billion years this process of life forming spontaneously from nothing, and all the evidence of that has conveniently ceased to exist in nature?

Wheres your proof of it all happened by the "random chance fairy"

You don't even attempt to find some statistical or scientific study to support your claims.

Leventhals paradox is not disproved... only proteins that are biologically active fold correctly almost instantaneously.
You should really understand the debate before you declare victory, and say everyone else disproves themselves.

Maybe you're just a figment of the creators imagination...amusing itself.

No proof of that, but Near Death experiences have come back saying this reality is illusory and is just characters playing in GOD's dream.

Actually, I think it is simpler than even the explanation of God

We came from chemical reactions. These molecules formed to make those molecules which produced these reactions which contributed to those reactions, and so on.
Why couldn't life be as simple as that?

Love thy enemy.

Ok. How come we don't see

Ok. How come we don't see evidence of this same chemical reaction happening right now?

That's what the Miller-Urey experiment was trying to prove

and while amino acids were produced, it actually was a beaker full of death since both 'left handed' and 'right handed' amino acids were produced equally. Life only uses left handed amino acids.

Really? Do you have first hand

Really? Do you have first hand knowledge?

Why are amino acids sold online and in stores....

such as L-Tyrosine... L meaning left handed or "Levorotory".

Because your body only recognizes the Levorotory form of Tyrosine, not Dextrorotory form. Even though these 2 molecules are mirror images of each other.

Leovorotory means it rotates a plane of polarized light to the left.

Many thousands of biological substances produced in nature are optically active in only 1 form.

math is not on your side

Sorry to burst your bubble but a team of mathematicians have already proven it's impossibility, this is real replicatable science.

The Abuse of Greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power. - Shakespeare

Darwin was great when the belief was that the cell level was simple and basic with organs and tissue being complex.

This is of course in reverse. Cells are amazing ordered factories... nothing like this can ever occur from nothing in a billion bazillion zillion years.

Yea, and if we can't explain the big bang we just create the idea of infinite universes and of course given infinite universes and a gazillion gillion years it all makes perfect since....

Break it down even further...

The mitochondria, a small component of the cell, would have the complexity on the order of all the skyscrapers, buildings, bricks, plumbing, sewers, steel beams, bridges, parks, and roads in New York City.

The chances for something like this to self organize, without intelligent design is so far beyond ridiculous that its never going to happen.

Yet those who swear by their religion of Darwinism believe in it just as much as the false religions given by man to the masses.

Truth is, there is something out there vastly more intelligent than all of the human animals combined.

"Take hold of the future or the future will take hold of you." -- Patrick Dixon

The odds of winning the lottery

is 100,000,000 to 1, it would be impossible to pick the correct number.

yet someone wins.

so in your analogy those

so in your analogy those astronomical odds have to happen to every cell all the time, ya makes perfect sense.

once there is a structure, it is self propagating - life comes from life almost always.

Its life from non-life that is the astronomical chance.

Yes someone wins, but someone

Yes someone wins, but someone doesn't have to to win evolution. Very different.

You can't confuse these

You can't confuse these people with the reality of math and statistics. THEY BELIEVE IN THEIR HEARTS, just like every liberal does.

"In reality, the Constitution itself is incapable of achieving what we would like in limiting government power, no matter how well written."

~ Ron Paul, End the Fed

I dont understand

how you can have statistics on the odds of the first cell being made by chance when we cant even make a cell on purpose yet. Make a self replicating cell from inorganic material and then lets start talking about the statistical possibility of it happening by chance.

We're in the infancy of

We're in the infancy of understanding the building blocks of life. You think the fact we haven't figured it out in just 100 years of modern science vs 14,000,000,000 years of the universe existing proves your point? You're just like every person who thought their houses was going to go up in value forever because it did 8 years in a row during the housing bubble.

The reality is you're simply regurgitating what you have been brainwashed your entire life to believe. You aren't actually thinking.

"In reality, the Constitution itself is incapable of achieving what we would like in limiting government power, no matter how well written."

~ Ron Paul, End the Fed

why do

angry atheist always have reading comprehension problems?

Yes I believe that not knowing how to do something means you do not have enough data to statistically figure out how often its done by accident, assuming it can be done by accident. What are the odds if you put a monkey on a type writer the monkey will rewrite Shakespeare? What are the odds that the monkey will write the book on the color blue?

You seem awful emotional about this issue, you sure you are not the one brainwashed? Furthermore I have always felt that atheist should say that they believe in time travel, it would solve a lot of your problems. Plus it would make terraforming a breeze. Just saying.

And with evolution, each

And with evolution, each species had to win the lotto millions of times!

And? Sorry "millions of

And? Sorry "millions of times" seems big to you, but when we are talking about our known universe over 14 billion years, that's statistically minuscule. Every statement like this just proves how scientifically ignorant the person stating it really is.
