All or nothing arguing is

All or nothing arguing is trite. Reminds me of when a friend and I were discussing military intervention in Iraq and he tried to turn it into an argument on World War II. The idea is not made worthless because it may be impractical to make every American road of this stuff, which is this video's main argument. I saw the original video and the private driveway use of solar blocks was interesting; snow removal was intense this year; could maybe also be a source of alternate energy for a home.

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

The Sheep

Some English speaking idiot was paid some big bucks by the oil companies to convince the stupid that the inventors in Sandpoint, Idaho are stupid. Anyone that has ever worked building highways or work in the power field's will debunk this idiot in just a few minutes. Maybe 2% of what he claiming is true, but that is it.

Why does he not talk about the jobs that would be created?

Lets ask this guy if we will ever be able to send a man to the moon. Wonder what his answer would be?

Joined the Liberty Movement in Anchorage, Alaska, 1977. Ron Paul supporter since 1983.
In Liberty from the Pacific Northwest.

This does not debunk anything.

every one of his points are his opinions not backed up by relevant facts.

For example he shows x billion square meters of glass would be prohibitively expensive because just 1 square meter of glass is expensive. But they are not going to purchase the glass 1 square meter at a time...from a glass retailer. They will buy millions of square meters of glass directly from the manufacturer.

He says glass will wear smooth very fast over time and shows how sea glass will wear smooth faster than rock. But these people aren't using sea glass, they are using specially engineered tempered glass.

Maybe the solar roadway idea is bunk, but this video did not expose it.

Dust on Mars stopped the rovers.

Have you ever looked at a road surface? Buy a rock tumbler. Walk on a beach.

This video was overkill, and I emphasize the KILL.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

Except for the fact that glass is more expensive than Asphalt. Also he made a pretty good point that the L.E.D.s would be rendered useless in direct sunlight negating the panels primary function of allowing traffic on them.. Secondly, have you ever tried stopping on wet glass? Rubber and glass work great when the glass is dry. But stopping on glass while its wet? Yeah good luck.

have you ever tried to stop on

the glass these people have engineered? no? maybe you and the guy who made this piece should give it a try or use data from people who have instead of substituting other products.

Glass is glass

Tempered or otherwise. Friction resistance drops considerably when glass is wet.

No comment on the FACT that LEDs are rendered completely useless in direct sunlight?

glass can have all kinds of properties. Glass can be engineered in ways that create incredible friction and durability. Your unsubstantiated claim of "glass is glass" does not trump engineering principles and contrary test data...

...And you didn't read or comprehend that I was not defending this road, I was debunking the way this guy was "debunking" the road. Like you, he was making claims without supporting evidence.

To properly debunk, one must use actual test data to defeat claims, otherwise you have two parties just saying "NU-UH"..."UH-HUH"!

So get some data and start a thread and properly debunk this road if you hate it so much. I couldn't give two dinks about it either way.

I'm glad this was made.

Thank you for posting this. it's everything i was thinking while watching that video... the whole "in your face call you stupid" tactic put me off right off the get go... it's just oozed "scammer"

I use Blue Wave, but don't expect one of THEIR silly taglines.

Way Ahead of You

Thought your were a proponent?

Did we really give these guys tax dollars?

OK, lot of summer heat energy going to waste. Lets make the roads blacker, use heat pipes to some sub surface storage medium and then feed it back to the surface when it's cold to reduce expansion and contraction.

It will work! My wife and I have no sales experience. Help me get the grant.

The video raises real issues,

The video raises real issues, even if they are theoretical.
I'm a realist.
The technology is a step.
But he's right. How can you see signs flashing that are flat until you're right there?
I've been following the Interstate Traveler since 2006. I've met people who were involved from Detroit.

These things are cool.

But I live in Michigan. Land of lake effect snowy cloudy short winter days. I can close my eyes and recognize the state line by the sudden expansion joint bumps. I live on a rural tar-stoned blacktop patched potholed road. Dirty tires would darken and erode the glass surface in short order. The tile joints would weather, move, and quickly become a bone jarring nightmare.

These things may have a use as a rich city multipurpose Tennis-basketball court, but not for roads, at least not until the 50s Popular Science air supported cars of the Future become common place.
