Pope Francis: "We must recognize that religious truth evolves and changes. Truth is not absolute or set in stone."

For the last six months, Catholic cardinals, bishops and theologians have been deliberating in Vatican City, discussing the future of the church and redefining long-held Catholic doctrines and dogmas. The Third Vatican Council, is undoubtedly the largest and most important since the Second Vatican Council was concluded in 1962. Pope Francis convened the new council to “finally finish the work of the Second Vatican Council.” While some traditionalists and conservative reactionaries on the far right have decried these efforts, they have delighted progressives around the world.

The Third Vatican Council concluded today with Pope Francis announcing that Catholicism is now a “modern and reasonable religion, which has undergone evolutionary changes. The time has come to abandon all intolerance. We must recognize that religious truth evolves and changes. Truth is not absolute or set in stone. Even atheists acknowledge the divine. Through acts of love and charity the atheist acknowledges God as well, and redeems his own soul, becoming an active participant in the redemption of humanity.”

“Through humility, soul searching, and prayerful contemplation we have gained a new understanding of certain dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity.God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God” Pope Francis declared.

The possibility that this post could be true is the real story.

That this story cannot be immediately ruled-out as being outrageous, impossible, and utterly ridiculous is what is so shocking, imo.

I guess you're not Catholic, SteveMT.

There is (was?) a war going in within the Catholic Church between traditionalists and the Jesuits (Latin American Liberation Theology). When Benedict stepped down and a Latin American Jesuit was installed, the first ever Jesuit to become a Pope, (in fact, the head of the Jesuit order was referred to as the "Black Pope" because of the black robes they wear and is an enemy to the "White Pope") was a signal that huge change is around the corner. Not just for the Church but, for the entire world.

Just as Latin American children are being used to play on the sympathies of American citizens, with our politicians leading the band to overthrow our Republic, so too are the Church's teachings about love and charity being used to usher in a NWO.

Fasten your seatbelt. It's going to be a wicked ride.

Time Will Tell If This Is A True Translation !

My Catholic Wife has several members of the clergy in her very large family at all levels. {Nuns, Priests, etc. etc.}

If someone fabricated this story or changed it in any way, the TRUTH will eventually be made public !

Satire - Pope Francis and the 'Third Vatican Council'

Circulating report claims that Pope Francis has announced sweeping changes to long-standing Catholic doctrines after concluding the Third Vatican Council. Supposedly, Pope Francis declared that "all religions are true", that "there is no literal hell", and that the "church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice".

FALSE info !

true info

but the Pope didn't say it. =)

Sounds like he graduated from the Bubba Clinton school of truth.

I wonder if he knows the meaning of "is" ?

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.

Glad I'm not Catholic..

that's all I have to say about that.

Glad I Am

Especially given that this isn't true.

This is satire

Please note the origin of the story is a satirical website. None of the reputable sources of Vatican news (like L'Osservatore Romano) have reported anything similar, either in English or in Italian.

I've heard this pope speak. I

I've heard this pope speak. I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss this story.

The story is a work of fiction. However,

I did up vote your comment, since you hit on something important. In the case of this Jesuit Pope, truth is stranger than the fiction in that article. I thank God for the Catholic education I received when I was young (pre-Vatican II). Because of it, my faith is NOT dependent on the politics of the Vatican.

well there is no eternal hell

the only thing eternal about it is that your soul dies the second death ceasing to exist, so that seems to be partially correct accept for the part where it says we will all live forever, which we will all not. The Catholic Church is trying to unify all churches though stating we all worship the same God, which is very incorrect, any religion that takes Jesus off of the Cross, I can not conclude is the same God that I worship. That unification of these churches will be the one world religious antichrist system. Funny thing is that it is gonna look like such a good and peaceful thing, the true Christians will be martyred once again when that day comes.

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

This is a fake story.

This is a fake story. From The Trenches seems to post whatever they find without verifying it. They have lost ALL credibility in my eyes.

Is this satire?

This cant be right?
