Nystrom's DP Summer 2014 Playlist - Track 1

Without further ado, the song:

http://youtu.be/emFUtuotHL4

Background:

I'm going through a pretty massive transformation at the moment. This is what comes to mind:

Anyone else feeling this way? I'm flying into a singularity a point after which nothing is predictable. Jim just flew through one. Allison just passed through her own. Adam's approaching one.

Anyone else feel the rumblings of change bearing down on them?

This is your life. You've only got one to lead. What are you doing with it?

July 14th (Bastille Day), everything changes for me. I'm leaving Boston for the west coast. I'm leaving on a jet plane / Don't know when I'll be back again. Going out to lay the tracks for the train that will come, from the Atlantic to the Pacific and beyond.

Time to clean up a little Karma. Thank you DP for the Karma Bomb.

Because of it (and that is a story to be told), I'm not afraid of anything in this world.

So I just need to get myself unstuck from that moment, in order that I can move on.

Glowing in the Dark

Sorry, not an actual music video. But I love the techno-pop sound, not to mention the message, so enjoy the sound... :

U2 - Kite (Live From Boston)

My feelings expressed in a song...every last word.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

This is a great one

This song is incredible. That whole album was.

Thank you. I needed this.

Did you hear what he said at the beginning? This song is about letting go of somebody you don't want to let go of. It could be a lover, a father, a child, a website. (lol)

Thanks for sharing

Hey man! Thanks for sharing that. I feel like times short sometimes. I need to buy a place before rates climb, or it all goes tits up. Either way, if I remember right from previous posts, you're no stranger to the Greater Seattle area. If you're up this way, 1st bottle of wine is on me!

Kel

I'm going to take you up on that Kel

You know any other DPers in the area?

I know Pawnstorm is out there, and Robin Koerner, too.

Second bottle's on me.

Made ya look! :p~~ ~

Nah

I just liked the Schneider tune :)

I'm in a similar position

Live near Cleveland. Met a girl in Vegas who lives near LA. Started dating her. Started visiting her, and she started visiting me. Been wanting to travel more and not be stuck in one place my whole life. Then, got laid off in early May. Currently applying to jobs near LA and Cleveland, and a few other areas. Whichever company hires me is where I will be. 2014 has been a big year of change for me for many reasons. But I have faith in God that it will all work out :)

Funny how God's plans always

Funny how God's plans always seem to eventually work out better than mine. :)

U2, Bono,

Kids stuff, sorry.

Help me grow up,

Epic stuff bierdegarde, thanks!

I've been a big fan of Thick as as Brick 1 and Heavy Horses, but I've never really dug deeply into this one. I'm listening to it as I write. I'm really enjoying it!

Here's how to embed. I'll use your link as example...
 photo yt_embed_zps22dee191.png

Once you're at any youtube page that displays a chosen video...

1) Look below the video to where it says "Share". Click "Share".

2) Below that you will then see "Embed". Click "Embed".

3) You will then below that see text highlighted in blue. RIGHT click on that [while your cursor is anywhere on the blue section] and then select "Copy".

The code will then be in your buffer and ready to be pasted into a comment box here on the Daily Paul. Pasting is similar to copying. With you cursor active in a comment box, RIGHT click and then choose "Paste".

What's beneficial, especially at the Jam Session post where there are a bagillion video posts, is to lastly click the "Make YT embeds load faster" button above the comment box. When you do that you will see the text of the code change slightly. Somehow doing that makes pages with many videos load faster. The video will load into your comment anyway though, should you choose or forget to do this last step.

Voilà! :)

Sorry, But thats the stuff

Sorry,
But thats the stuff they play as background music in sappy movies...

Match this

Education, micro-managed.
MBA: a doddle mastered.
City-bound, Canary Wharf.
A cushy number, fluky bastard.
Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins

Hedge funds, wraps and equities.
Lackeys, aides in fierce attendance.
Trusts and gilts, reserve currencies.
Liquid gold in safe ascendance.
Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins.

Treat myself to quality time, test a porsche and snort a line,
Eat Hermione for lunch.
Set that glum PA a-jumping,
Book front row tickets for something after we munch.

Fast-tracked futures, hard-nut traders.
Feeding frenzy, pigs a-troughing.
Fuelled by forecasts, and hot share options.
Big fat bonus in the offing.

Draconian calls for regulation
Are drowned in latte with Starbucks muffin.
Mortgage melt-down: non est mea culpa.
Threatened exit, stage left, laughing...
Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins.
Banker bets, cheque's in the post: not worth the ink it's written in.

Something is definitely happening

Last night I had a series of dreams, can't even say how many but it was a lot and I kept on waking up after each and falling right back to sleep quick to dream again.
They went this way - a dream of something troubling, wake up with a jolt, fall right back to sleep into that problem dream, immediately find a way to sort it.
Over and over again this happened. Like I was clearing everything up. They were real quick dreams, always something different. Boom, boom, boom.
Last dream is the only one I kinda remember with any clarity. It was the 'big one'. Tremenous storm clouds gathering. The wind was really picking up, like some huge world-wide event was about to strike. I was high up, maybe on top of a building, it seemed man-made, looking over a scene of... maybe war... it was like carnage... Mad Maxish... wake up, fall right back to sleep and into that storm, I raise my arms in prayer, pray and the clouds begin to disperse, a calm begins to descends.
I wake up so don't know the outcome other than that. Weird stuff.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

There is a season

It doesn't get much better than this song. This is one of my favorite songs ever. I don't know jam session break out wherever I go, it's out of my control :)

Love the Byrds...

and we were just reading this passage in our Bible reading this evening. Thank you for posting this. Here's one from my favorites, Mister Mister:

Yeah, this is an awesome song

They ripped the lyrics right out of the bible. That is part of what makes it so awesome.

It is so true.

I love all of the Byrds interpretations of Dylan.

The Byrds were awesome. Completely themselves. Craftsmen with their music.

"A time to embrace / a time to refrain from embracing."

So true.

p.s. I never thought of the Byrds like this:

Dylan + The Beatles = The Byrds.

http://youtu.be/baZhKcGduSA

This is one of my favorite covers. They do is so much more accessible than Dylan's original.

Anyway, it echoes through. I was so much older when I started the Daily Paul. I'm younger than that now.

We were transfering msgs across the Atlantic via records

That is so cool. Hey you played the trumpets song in the other thread. I love that one. What are some of Samantha's favorite songs/albums/artists?

Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. I used to know this guy and I would refer to him as my tambourine man because he dealt in music and always found me the best music and made me amazing playlists. So every now and then if I hadn't seen him or talked to him in a while I would send him a text that say 'hey mr tamobourine man play a song for me' and he would respond with whatever he was listening to or whatever he thought I might like if he had some new music on him.

It's 4 AM, that story could be told so much better, but for now it is what it is.

Michael Nystrom's picture

How's that story coming

kiddo?

I think I will finally have some more time to work on it

But I do have some things to show you in that regard for when you are settled.

How's yours coming?

I'm glad you found wookiefoot here and have been making a summer play list. It makes me happy knowing you have found music so meaningful to you right now.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Mine is on ice, for the time being

BTW, Richard Ford said that he kept all of his notes for his latest and greatest book Canada in the freezer for 20 years! I found that to be amusing.

That Wookiefoot album is sustaining me right now. It lifts me up and out of here. You know the power of music can do that.
