First Factions Fight Club

Thanks to Bill3 for reminding us what Fight Club is NOT about. Factions Fight Club is not about name calling. Leave that to the little children.

If there is one misunderstand, then there may be more. Therefore, the First Factions Fight Club (F4) will be an examination of the definition, nature, and function of factions.

At its most basic level, a faction is a group within a larger group. Factions themselves can contain sub-factions: Groups within groups within groups.

Factions are collectivist organizations in which the group assumes a higher importance than the individual. Dissenting members are expelled and attacked by factions.

Factions serve a variety of functions, but the the first rule of being a faction member is that you always protect the faction.

And it's really

good, Sea.

This one got me thinking:

"One will never be sightless of the affinities one shares with someone else. Common language, common landscape, a common environment creates common values and perspectives. Identity not only a result of coalition, it can be the foundation of coalition and it is always a quality from which to draw strength."

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Good to know.

No, really that is great to know. I was one of the ones who misunderstood because when you were talking about ppl fighting I imagined a bunch of pointless name calling. This just sounds more like organized debate and that makes me feel less stressed. And I know, I don't have to be here Thursdays if the idea stressed me out, but it just saddened me to think of ppl running amok calling each other names whether I was here or not. This is debate club.

Low, under the falling sky

1) What "FFC is not about" doesn't start until 9pm.
-) I shall call you "Chicklet" until then.
2) It is not "pointless". To be extra sure that it remains seen as such,
-) I may just continue to call you "Chick!et" after 9pm.

"Organized Chaos"

comes to mind but perhaps Michael can keep it tamped down, it appears he's doing that "accidental herding" stuff again.

Damn bro...

This is gonna be some deep shit! I am excited...

Seems divisive

What is this thing suppose to be all about?

Even during times of life when cliques are very prevalent, such as high school, I've always prided myself in being able to communicate with nearly all of them. I've never been a fan of creating distinctions. It always seemed to cause more harm than good. Do you agree, Michael?

Just not sure what this whole "faction" thing entails. How would you describe this so-called "Fight Club"?

Welcome back dwalters

I noticed you had taken off for a little bit, hope you are having a nice summer. These threads went up recently explaining the faction situation here and proposing a fight club.

I kinda agree that it seems a bit divisive on the outside, but if you think about it, it's not a whole lot different than what already goes on here. People bring up topics to debate and ppl representing each side of the issue show up in respective threads and defend their position and or group and or faction.

It's like getting married...

When it's made "official" these types of relationships tend to deteriorate.

If we already do "it," why do we need to do "it" in a concentrated manner?

The great

Joe vs. Steve
Kirk vs. Picard
unicorns vs. rainbows
Mike vs. Joel
ice cream vs. cake

internet debate smack-downs of history.

I can't wait to be part of the next chapter. Are we picking faction names then or between now and then? How about Nows vs. Thens?

have you lost your mind? You've almost completely undone Baskin-Robbins in one fell swoop.

First Rule of Factions Fight Club

Don't talk about Factions Fight Club.

Background music while I pop the popcorn

I thought everybody here already knew there's only truly two factions, F1 (them) and F2 (us).

There is no fact of the matter really.

Matter of fact it's all fact.

Butter? Would you care to share the popcorn?

I'll bring refreshments and candy if you supply the popcorn and background music. Oh! We could be cheerleaders! Or maybe not....

Sorry, I just gotta say it.

Would you two just go get a motel room, already!! Love y'all, just teasing. All in fun, I hope.

lol

Well if you are referring to SC and I getting a motel room...It would be a slumber party girls night thing as we a are both straight females and as I understand it she is married and has children.

However, if you are referring to John Robb and I getting a motel room for our lovers quarrels instead of subjecting the DP to them; he is supposed to be building me us a cabin in Montana, but he hasn't started yet.

Sigh....Men...They promise ya the moon, but then they forget to go get the damn moon.

I was speaking of John Robb, who

is also known as 'The Black Knight'. I warn you, stay far from him. He's deadly, and if you go to Montana with him, you'll never be seen alive again. Trust me, I know these things.

There is no pop to the corn really.

No fair

picking Team Rainbow this early. You have to hold your one-horned horses!

Defend Liberty!
