Rick Perry slams Rand Paul's 'isolationist policies' in Washington Post op-ed

Isolationist policies make the threat of terrorism even greater

By Rick Perry
July 11 at 8:01 PM

As a veteran, and as a governor who has supported Texas National Guard deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I can understand the emotions behind isolationism. Many people are tired of war, and the urge to pull back is a natural, human reaction. Unfortunately, we live in a world where isolationist policies would only endanger our national security even further.

That’s why it’s disheartening to hear fellow Republicans, such as Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), suggest that our nation should ignore what’s happening in Iraq. The main problem with this argument is that it means ignoring the profound threat that the group now calling itself the Islamic State poses to the United States and the world.

In the Islamic State, which came to prominence in Syria and now controls ample territory, weapons and cash in both that country and Iraq, the world is confronting an even more radicalized version of Islamic extremism than al-Qaeda. This group is well-trained, technologically sophisticated and adept at recruitment, with thousands of people with European passports fighting on its side, as well as some Americans.

This represents a real threat to our national security — to which Paul seems curiously blind — because any of these passport carriers can simply buy a plane ticket and show up in the United States without even a visa. It’s particularly chilling when you consider that one American has already carried out a suicide bombing and a terrorist-trained European allegedly killed four at the Jewish Museum in Brussels.

That guy is an absolute

That guy is an absolute idiot, and the people in Texas are idiots for electing him.

Desparation of Perry's part

He is afraid of coming in 3rd in Texas, like he did in the GOP state convention.

He came in 4th.

He came in 4th.

If Perry doesn’t like the

If Perry doesn’t like the consequences of his/US actions, ISIS expansion in Syria and Iraq, then maybe he should have considered that before pushing support for the extremist rebel groups in Syria that laid the foundation for ISIS. ISIS is a direct result of interventionist policies in Syria. The folks the US government (and its puppet regime the Sauds) have been promoting in Syria were the ones performing beheadings, and systematic genocide of Christian villages, mass executions, …

What else did you expect from interventionist support for such extremist? It does not take a brain surgeon to know that when you subsidize such behavior through your interventionist policies Perry, that such behavior will expand and spread. Duh?

Rand probably won't respond.

And he probably shouldn't.
It is an attempt to marginalize Rand within the party.
Make him an "extreme" candidate rather than a candidate who really has a chance.

Rand is smart enough to formulate his own reply

But it would be funny if he says something about nonintervention ≠ isolationist, then reminds Perry that Ron Paul, his father, the most staunch anti-interventionist received more money in donations from active and retired military than all Republican candidates (Perry included) and Obama combined.

The Gardisil Governor Attacking The Front Running

I wonder if he is going to studder again during the debates..

Humunah Humunah

"Gardisil Rick"

Yep, Perry is running for president again.

And yet again, he's going to go absolutely nowhere and end up making a complete fool of himself. Why are we giving his words credence here?

“My attitude toward progress has passed from antagonism to boredom. I have long ceased to argue with people who prefer Thursday to Wednesday because it is Thursday.” - G.K. Chesterton

Perry was pimped by the party last time

Not because he the "prettiest" candidate, politically, but he helped test the waters for whoever the GOP wanted more than a Liberty candidate.

Gov. Chris Christie is the same kind of trial-balloon, (no pun intended), candidate

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

Sorry, but I don't believe you....

I think the pun WAS intended.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Perry and Christie are both, equally, trial-ballon candidates

It's just too obvious that a hot-air, rotund image lends itself to Christie more. Perry's leaner-looking hot-air is worth less, also.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

So isolationism means "not going to war w/ a country"?

Since we're not at war w/ certain countries (e.g. Canada) does Rick Perry think that means we're being "isolationist"?

In what idiotic way does it

In what idiotic way does it make it more dangerous for America rather ISIS is in control of Iraq or rather a pro Iranian like Malaki or some other puppet we try and prop up over there.

It makes not one jack iota difference in the safety here in America. NONE. ISIS couldn't give one flying crap about Americans other than the fact that we have troops stationed in the land they believe is theirs. If we didn't have troops in Iraq etc they probably hardly even know we exist, let alone care about what we are doing.

Its idiots like Perry that raise the ire of these groups with bombings and murder of them and or trying to control them, telling them what to do that makes them blindly retaliate toward America in the only way they feel they can. Perry's views are self fulfilling in that he causes what he is trying to fight against.

Perry Makes A Prepared Statement Which Makes No Sense

Perry doesn't understand what he said..If he did he would know that the real isolationists are the Neo-con artists

Everything one need to know about Rick Perry is that he is a supporter of anything Barack Obama and all of the establishment candidates are for and that is globalism run by the Oligarchs...

Rick Perry needs to crawl in a hole and die...

His brain is in a FOG

Not necessarily in that order

Rick Perry - everything you want to know

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Puppet - that's all

Perry obviously was just promised a large donation by the chicken hawks.

There is a trillion dollar industry behind the US murder machine and they can easily buy off puppets like perry.

He supported the deployment of national guard oversees but whines about washington not protecting his border. Who is the non-interventionist who won't even take ownership of his own state border?

Perry is a senile clown puppet.

Positioning. That's all. As

Positioning. That's all. As much as this point of view angers me as a person, it will be worse for liberty in the long run if neocons start adopting non-interventionism. Rand could lose to someone like Perry if apathetic, John Q. Voter, who won't start paying attention until Thanksgiving 2015, sees no difference between the two on foreign policy.

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

Guardasil Rick knows about appropriate responses

Mainstream "conservatives" LOVE war

Love it. It makes them feel emboldened knowing that somewhere a child is being shot in their name. And they are dumb enough to think it somehow effects their own lives in a positive way, often leading to "Land of the free because of the brave" stickers.

And most of...

... them are evangelicals... the ones that are suppose to love their enemies, bless those who curse them, do good to those who hate them and be peacemakers, for blessed are the peacemakers... sickening hypocrites... pro-life pro-war... makes a lot of sense doesn't it?

The more the Cheneys and Perrys go after Rand the better for him. Perry makes George Bush look like a genius.

Plano TX

Unintelligent Texan cowboy

Unintelligent Texan cowboy governor intent on empire expansion willing to murder innocents to achieve his goal. Seems like we've seen this movie before.

I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be. Albert Einstein

Three Reasons why Rick Perry is criticizing Rand

1) He is a NeoCon
2) He wants to be President forgot the third one.

Dumb Dick Perry

OK I will leave it at that..............................

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
"I know major allies who fund them" Gen. Dempsey referring to ISIS

This is just

Dick Perry letting the MIC know, 'hey guys I'm on your team'! It is also, used to push Rand away from his 'sometimes' non-interventionist policy, that being if it doesn't involve Israel. Here's a perfect example of the Rick 'the fraud' Perry, as well as a few other ovious phony staged photo ops.

Slick Rick

Slippery Slick Rick Perry...Why are you attacking fellow Republican Rand Paul?.
Are you scared terrorists will be crawling across the border into Texas?
Another Republican who does not know the difference between Isolationism and Non-intervention.
Psst...Hey Rick, the gig is up, stop trying to scare people with the terrorist BS...Enough already!

Perry is just another

phony, we have had enough phonies and now have the ability via the internet, to look back on the history of their actions to realize this.

and he IS...

a POS.
