What would Ron Paul do about Health care?

Health care insurance is out of control.

Up 40% in the last 5 years. It cost an average of 5K per year for a healthy person, If you are not healthy or lost your job and have a pre existing condition your are out of luck. Death wish.

You will be on the street in time with health care costs draining the life and money out of the family.

Does Ron Paul have a plan?

Well for starters a return

Well for starters a return to sound money would go along way on all fronts. Costs are skyrocketing because of inflation. Inflation due to dilution of the currency. Stop printing funny money and back up with hard assets like gold and silver instead of oil.

Get the HMO's out of the business of deciding what's best for the patient. Put that power in the hands of the patients and the doctors. The way it ought to be.

You can't look at health care in a vacuum. It is all tied to the economy. It doesn't really matter if it's guns or butter. None of it can be solved without addressing the monetary policy. Unfortunately this country isn't about guns OR butter, it's about guns AND butter. Stop funding undeclared wars and the military industrial complex, return to sound money, and healthcare isn't such a big problem anymore.

he has talked about:
going back to Dr./Patient relationship
Getting HMO's and the government out of healthcare
Back to privatized-real free market healthcare
No pharmaceutical lobby-ists,etc.
It's a multifaceted issue. Look it up for better results.
ps-My husband (41),my son (7) and I (38) spent exactly zero dollars on health this past year. We use alternative medicine [which would be very little comparatively out of pocket, but we practice it ourselves so it's even less] and eat real food. I probably spend the same on supplements as the average person does on over the counter 'medicines',as well.
People need to reclaim personal responsibility when it comes to healthcare, especially younger generations. Does anyone realize that open heart/cardiac depts are the MOST profitable wings of major hospitals?
Change in the individual is the only way to make real health care change in this country. Just like RP talks about with government-it's up to the people to make the changes and be willing to take responsiblity.

Lauren, I applaud you for being healthy

But that is not why I have insurance.

Last year my wife had food poisoning and we had to go to the emergency room. The bill came to 8,300 dollars!

She was forced to stay and get rehydrated and stay in the er for 4 hours.

We got the bill later and it was 8300 $$$$.

The problem is what happens if you get in a car accident, or any other accident that has nothing to do with how healthy you are?

In this system you have to have protection, and 9500 year is what it costs us. And we are VERY healthy, never had a problem except the unknown.

800 month for peace of mind is the present bill.

Would you drive with out car insurance?
I do not care how safe you drive, you need insurance, same with health insurance, it is a must.

PS: countrywide attributed 30% of foreclosures to medical accidents and bills and not to interest rates. Other 40% were for job loses. Only 10% were for payment shock.

here is the Dr.'s solution

Making all medical expenses tax deductible.
Eliminating federal regulations that discourage small businesses from providing coverage.

Giving doctors the freedom to collectively negotiate with insurance companies and drive down the cost of medical care.

Making every American eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), and removing the requirement that individuals must obtain a high-deductible insurance policy before opening an HSA.

Reform licensure requirements so that pharmacists and nurses can perform some basic functions to increase access to care and lower costs.

"By removing federal regulations, encouraging competition, and presenting real choices, we can make our health care system the envy of the world once again. "
