10 Reasons America Is A Police State

"What do you think of when you hear the term 'police state?' Chances are you conjured up an image of jack-booted Nazis storming down the streets terrorizing people with German Shepherds; or maybe you thought of Soviet Russia? North Korea? Of Orwell's Oceania?

A police state can actually be a lot more familiar, but since we were born our heads have been filled with so much nationalist propaganda that we refuse to believe we're not the 'freest' country in the world. The truth is, being "freer" than people in some other countries doesn't mean you're actually free; it just means your masters are slightly nicer than theirs.

Here are ten legitimate reasons America is a police state . . ."

Interesting point.

When considering the difference of the time periods - fashions / technology / social norms, etc.. just how much different from modern day us were the police states we learned about growing up?
We learned how the Soviets could just bust into your home and listen to your phone calls on a whim. We learned that the German govt could execute citizens without trial. We were shown how Mao could seize property.
But, we were always told that they were barbarians, that here in the U.S. the govt had to follow the constitution, had to get warrants, had to honor freedom and justice, had to respect private property...
I think it used to be true.
I wish it was true.

It seems to me that a lot of

It seems to me that a lot of the difference is in methodology. The Nazis essentially created a nationalistic cult, and the Soviets a society based of cloak-and-dagger and paranoia.

The US government has bred apathy and dependence. To me, all this new technology that's around now is a double-edged sword. On one hand, as the real world gets more and more oppressive and the police state more blatant, the internet could be the very last bastion of liberty against government control.

On the other hand, the internet was developed by the government, for the government, as a way to transfer information between computers in different places. Then it was sold to us as this great, almighty, life-changing thing - which it was - and we latched onto it like children to their mothers.

Almost everything is connected to the internet now. Who's to say the plan wasn't changed to using the internet as a way for the government to easily gather info on every single person that uses it?

Does anyone disagree?

I'm sure many people reading this think we're not quite a police state yet. If you believe so, what are your criteria for a police state? Maybe I can address some concerns in an update to the post.

What is the configuration of fence and razor wire designed to do...keep those FEMA seeks to help... in...or keep those FEMA seeks to protect the inhabitants from....out?

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

It is definitely to keep

It is definitely to keep people in. Unless... zombies?

In my opinion, it's only a matter of time, maybe a couple years, before anyone with one too many "red flags" finds themselves in internment camps as a possible "psychopath"/terrorist threat.

I'm often compare our police state with "Red China" because I travel there alot with my Chinese wife. What we put up with here is worse than the way people are treated in China in their day to day existence. Sure, the commies are no friend of liberty but they are less violent at the street level. Most of their goons don't even carry weapons of any sort, just a uniform. I've seen Chinese people having a shouting match with their goons on many occasions and it does not escalate into having a boot on your face or being shot in the back like it would here...

Beware the cult of "government"...

I'm of the opinion that

I'm of the opinion that because Nazi Germany set such an extremist, even cartoonish example of a fascist police state, many people now are unable to recognize more subtle fascism where the illusion of freedom still matters.

Shameless self-bump!

My goal with this was to be pretty in-depth, but I'm sure there are plenty of things I forgot. The post is already on the longer side anyway.
