The State just ended!

If the Central Government abruptly ended, would you still go to work?

Would you still feed your children?

Would you pay the phone bill?

Mow the grass?

Murder your neighbor?

Rob the 7/11?

Would you take up heroin?

Would you repel hazily defined illegal aliens?

Would you go to war in Ukraine?

Bomb the Iranians?

Would you establish welfare?

Would you make a central bank?

Would you kowtow to another State?

The lower dregs of humanity

The lower dregs of humanity would go burn and pillage stuff. Only once a few of them met their end to some small objects made of lead would they start thinking twice about what they were doing.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

I assume you're not talking about anyone you know personally...

It's always that nebulous group of "other people" that must be feared.

Not at all, I think I know at

Not at all, I think I know at least one person who would. Possibly a couple more. In all honesty I think one of my brothers would end up doing something stupid too.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Great analysis on the "other people" line of thinking.

I was just having this discussion a few days ago. Where does this pessimism come from? Maybe the constant media bombardment of negativity? I don't know.

What do you think?

"My country is the world, and my religion is to do good."
Thomas Paine

It's a self-perpetuating idea...

I think people come by the notion honestly in many cases. They see a single person or a small group of people do something that they consider stupid, and then, they project their feelings onto the remainder of the population.

There is an attitude of pessimism underlying it, however. For instance, no one ever says - "People are awesome" - when they see someone do a good deed. Instead they say, "I wish others were more like that person." I'm not sure where the pessimism comes from, but once injected, it's very contagious - "One bad apple..."

It can be defeated though. Discussing it is the way. While I'm not religious, a fellow in his 60s - probably a deacon or preacher - rang my doorbell this morning. I spoke with him about this very topic. The conversation was very pleasant. (As a bonus, I also talked about US/Iranian history beginning in 1953, also.)

Responsible is as responsible does.

The person who posed the question is obviously a sardonic troll. Probably a Democrat. As the world won't end and we won't revert to savagery the first thing as he expects as indicated by the cynical question qualifications, what I would do is check my ammo supply. Then the emergency food supply. I should be OK with gasoline in the truck as I don't let the tank get below 3/4. I'm retired. I would have to see how badly my IRA's were hit. If bad then I might have to go get some hens and a pig and a cow. Fortunately I've got a hoard of gold and silver.

If the United States should collapse. I'm not worried as we would still have the states for political stability. Because I haven't fled the suburbs yet I would have to get with my neighbors about closing off our street to prevent any incursions from the big city folks who will be unprepared and want our stuff.

A 12 gauge, .308, AR-15 and side arms should be sufficient. I'll be able to loan out some fire power to my neighbors who didn't think to arm themselves.

And because most of America's people are industrious, if I were working I would return to work as soon as things sorted themselves out like I did after the '67 riots in Detroit. I wouldn't be worrying about any riff-raff invading my neighborhood as any previous necessity to repel "boarders" would have reduced their ranks significantly and I don't think they would be coming back for more of the same.

The world won't end with the collapse of the central government, but as a retiree I'd have to replace the money from the Social Security check -- maybe mow other people's lawns or do home repairs. It always works out for America because of her people and their can do/will do attitudes. I'm not worried. I like a little variety. I don't get bored that way.

It only takes one to KEEP AMERICANS FREE. Know your duties & rights as a juror. Stop the unconstitutional conviction of innocents in federal custody. The Fully Informed Jury CALL 1-800-TEL-JURY www.fija.org IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. It's that important.

Sardonic troll? How do you figure?

Certainly not a supporter of the Blue Party (or the Red for that matter). I'm an anarchist.

And like you said, "The world won't end with the collapse of the central government" - which was somewhat my point.

My answers

Q: If the Central Government abruptly ended, would you still go to work?

A: Well, yes. Duh.

Q: Would you still feed your children?

A: Idem.

Q: Would you pay the phone bill?

A: How could I possibly stop if I enjoy their service?

Q: Mow the grass?

A: No. I trained dear wife for that. J/k.

Q: Murder your neighbor?

A: Well, I haven't even tried to conspire and murder the turd on a stick of a traitor that is the current POTUS**, so... that should give an idea of how patient and forgiving I am, actually, no? So, as for becoming a criminal (murderer) I've never ever come anywhere close to... I guess that'd be : "most likely, no".

Q: Rob the 7/11?

A: I can usually pay anything I ever need. Cash. And see previous answer, also.

Q: Would you take up heroin?

A: Cigarette addiction is one too many already, so thanks, but no, thanks.

Q: Would you repel hazily defined illegal aliens?

A: Depends. Do those also happen to be the same who systematically come after my stuff?

Q: Would you go to war in Ukraine?

A: The odds of seeing (extraterrestrial) aliens tomorrow are probably a billion fold higher.

Q: Bomb the Iranians?

A: Idem.

Q: Would you establish welfare?

A: No. I'm not a masochist.

Q: Would you make a central bank?

A: I'd rather have someone shoot me dead at once, if I ever had that intent. For my name's and posterity's sake.

Q: Would you kowtow to another State?

A: Can we just stick to the Bill of Rights - NO more, NO less?

I think the spirit of the Bill of Rights will always...

be with humanity. It's the only part of that document truly derived from Natural Law.

** Ya know, the same smooth-talking compulsive liar bastard who isn't even more of a US citizen than I am, and who's stealing at gun point a dozen grands from my yearly income earned from my sweat and headaches every freaking year, while screwing my rights (and yours) with no vaseline, and posing as the greatest do-gooder of the last 3 decades without ever having to get a real job... well, if that'd be only for the sake of putting it tersely, sure.

A downvote - ha! ha! - not bold enough to give a response...

however.
