Fox News and CNN may not have manipulated their online polls about Ron Paul after all.

Remember during the election when online polls about the debate performances seemed rigged against Ron Paul?

Thanks to Snowden and Greenwald, we now know they probably were, but perhaps not by the corporate media mouthpieces that hosted them.

Thanks to Edward Snowden, we now have proof about an incredible set of tools used by the British equivalent of the NSA, known as the GCHQ, or Government Communications Headquarters. These tools will essentially confirm every single conspiracy theory you could have ever imagined when it comes to propaganda on the Internet. It allows British intelligence officers to: “manipulate the results of online polls, artificially inflate pageview counts on web sites, ‘amplify’ sanctioned messages on YouTube, and censor video content judged to be ‘extremist.’”

One quesiton:

Does Snowden have information on specific polls or just a generalization?

And yes, it does matter.

I want Snowden and Greenwald to cite specific cases. If they knew the polls regarding Ron Paul (or anyone else) were rigged, name them. A blanket "the polls were rigged" is not good enough because we already knew, one way or another, they were being rigged.

We need specifics, Snowden. Not specific agent names, specific cases in which the NSA has "touched."

Does that make sense?

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

I agree, it would be great to have specifics.

The bigger issue here is that GHCQ has developed tools and methods to do these things. It would be silly to think that they would expend the effort to build these systems and then not use them.

These systems have NOTHING to do with preventing terrorism or even spying. They are purely for changing people's perceptions and controlling information flow. The mere fact that these tools exist pisses me off, because you know they are using them, even if we don't have specific instances.

But the smaller issues mold into

the bigger issue.

When you have evidence of the "smaller issues," you create a big picture.

We knew that "spying" and "hacking" was already going on. This is just another version of that: hacking into polls to create an image.

But for what and for whom?

When you have Specifics, you can name names and start indicting.

I appreciate the article, mdonato, but can I ask you a question sir:

How does this help our chances at seeing a Public Official go to jail?

Isn't that the ultimate goal of Snowden/Greenwald? To have accountability and the TRUTH come out? If that's the case, why are we creating a mountain out of a hill when we know no one will go to jail?

Just frustrated, Sir. No ill will towards you.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Agree with you totally Myke

However I think that we will have to totally replace the criminal regime in Washington before there might be any hope of accountability.

We have a specific instance of Clapper lying to Congress which is supposed to be a felony and no one does anything.

The best we can hope for is that these stories create enough of an uproar that the American people demand change. So far, the response to these stories has been lacking and frustrating. It takes time for collective attitudes to change, however I'm not sure how much time we have left given our current course.

We need to hold Snowden and Greenwald's feet to the fire to release more and sooner rather than later.

The goons can manipulate

The goons can manipulate pretty much everything on the net. I think most of us believed they could but we were labeled "conspiracy nuts". Now the truth (a small part of it anyway) is coming to light and "we" don't look so crazy anymore. I'm hoping for an open source "backbone" to be superimposed over the net that will allow complete privacy someday...

Beware the cult of "government"...
