How come the Rand Paul sub reddit has hardly any posters? That's what he said:

[–]Pavulox 8 points 1 day ago
Huge Rand supporter. But why does this sub seem so unpopular. There are virtually no comments on any posts.

I've wondered that, too. Hey Rand Paul supporters, that is probably a place to go invade if you want to make a show of force, and influence things. Reddit is news in and of itself.

It is huge. It has an Alexa rating of 53, meaning it is the 53rd most popular website in the world. 18th in the US.

Compare that with the Daily Paul's 14,000 ranking, 3,000th most popular in the US. Not chopped liver, but not 18, either.

Or is Rand Paul just a mirage, like Mitt Romney was? One has to ask, where is the independent grassroots support? Not support that is one way or another tied to his dad? The Rand Paul Review - the only dedicated Rand Paul site - has an Alexa Ranking of 575,000.

For a traffic driven site, anything not in the top 100,000 is pretty lame.

And yet Rand is on TV, makes big news in the MSM, scores well in the polls. But then again, so did Mitt Romney.

So you know, it makes me wonder. (Just sit back and take a listen, or at least read the lyrics.)

What makes this one of the greatest songs of all time?

I'm really more of a lyrics man, and the lyrics to this song are awesome, and are delivered with such authority, like a chill fall wind. And it is truly two songs in one - the ballad that gives way to the hard rock, like Ron giving way to Rand.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.

Always time to change the road you're on.

Back to the plan:

Here is the front page of reddit. As I type, no joke, this is the top post there: The Happiest Cat You Will Ever See.

This one is a close third: Furious George.

We are not dealing with rocket scientists over there, folks.

So how come the Rand Paul sub reddit is empty? People on here like to complain about the lack of support for Rand on here. Now it is my turn: Like it or not, reddit is a cultural force. Where's the presence.

Make this headline come true: "Rand Paul becomes liberal reddit's new darling."

Go get to work. Invalidate the headline of this post.

(But for God's sake, don't be Paultard 2.0!)

Oh, gee... I dunno...

Maybe because Reddit is for children? ; )

I find sites like Reddit, Fark or Buzzfeed (not to mention HuffingtonPost) hopelessly overrun with mindless distractions. Life is too short and it's only getting shorter.

stairway to heaven

can listen to that over and over. Anyway, great post. I love how you tell the Rand Folks what they need to do to win. Reddit is indeed extremely important. AND at the same time you get them off your own site! and if that wasn't enough, you got yourself some links from there to here....just in time for open registration. There are two roads and the door swings both ways. Well done.

Ok, I think I've figured out the basics. Made a few comments. Let's have a few more supporters!

Never spent any time on reddit but I guess I could start and post pro liberty comments...

Beware the cult of "government"...

Protips...

Don't waste your time fighting Progressives in posts that are already popular in /r/politics. Instead, make an effort to spend just a few minutes in
http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/new/ .. Vote up submissions that are good, make positive (non-trolling) comments, etc. Be a positive influence. All it takes is 50-100 people doing this and the whole tone of the subreddit changes.

Other subreddits to subscribe to:

- http://www.reddit.com/r/descentintotyranny

and....

Also wanted to add... do not, no matter how much you feel like you are doing a service to others, continually submit and submit and submit to a subreddit. You are hogging the subreddit. You are "sliding" other submissions out of the way and people will just give up and leave you there all alone.

When you've submitted 15 of the top 20 submissions to a subreddit you aren't helping it, you're monopolizing it.

I wonder about Reddit

I swear most people there are bots or trolls or something. Most of them are pretentious as hell but they are extremely well read. Yet, EXTREMELY ignorant, they just don't seem real to me sometimes.

Why reddit

when you have the dailypaul ;)

I don't use reddit, it is set

I don't use reddit, it is set up really weird and tacky.

Can someone else do it? LOL I

Can someone else do it? LOL

I never go on Reddit and don't plan to. But Michael's right, it's one of the most popular sites in the world. Anybody that visits the Daily Paul and also visits Reddit, should be doing more to educate/persuade the people over there instead of agreeing with people over here.

Echo chambers do no good. I have my own site that I'm infiltrating. It's probably the most popular Democrat site on the web, but I can't give my position away. ;) They literally do not allow self-admitted "non-Democrats" on the site.

I post dozens of times per

I post dozens of times per day to a Democrat / Progressive / socialist / Marxist site (which shall remain nameless), which has been very, very difficult at times...like banging my head on a rock. However, I find unusual areas of agreement, for example: anti-Fed, anti-Hillary, occasionally anti-war. It's slow going, but several other Libertarians also post there at times. I find it more instructive and rewarding arguing my side to a hostle crowd that respects me for supporting my point of view.

Looks like this was posted

Looks like this was posted over there. I'm a pretty big reader of Reddit, but I don't post often. Reddit is really what you want it to be. You can subscribe to any subreddit that you want to follow, and your homepage becomes the top posts from those subreddits. I've always been disappointed with how dead the /r/randpaul subreddit is. There are a lot of Rand Paul supporters on Reddit (still a minority, but we're out there). Although, Reddit is known as leaning Liberal, there really is an underlying libertatian mindset that you will see. It really just depends on what subreddit you're reading, for example /r/news vs /r/worldnews (liberal vs libertarian, respectively). I'd love to see more people out there spreading the ideals and the merits of Rand. The downvote brigades can be pretty intimidating, though.

It's dead maybe

in the sense that not a lot of people are commenting, but as far as articles being posted and people reading them I wouldn't completely agree. So if you are looking for a place to keep up with the latest Rand news, it is a good place. If you are looking to be more involved with discussion and activism then there are other places, such as here, and also of course Daily Paul but like Michael said he does not want to turn into Rand Paul 2016 grassroots central.

Ive never really..

farted around on reddit. I don't understand how it works...

Tweeted this.

I don't use Reddit, but anytime you tweet something about Reddit, all the Reddit accts. come out of the woodwork and re-tweet. Maybe someone will see it and answer you or post this.

Good post Michael.

reddit is a great site and if you sign up for just Rand Paul or whatever one topic your are interested in I guarantee you will find much more there that what you were initially looking for, there is a subreddit for pretty much anything you can think of. You just need one account to post across all of them, reddit is huge and it is growing larger by the day. r/randpaul is a good place to keep up with latest news going on with Rand but yes not a lot of discussion going on really. I don't know that it is the best place for activism though, internet forums are probably better suited for that.

If there are any regular redditors here

Would you mind posting this to the /r/randpaul sub reddit. I'll give it a few days, and if no one does, I'll post it myself. I'm curious to see how many upvotes this post could get there.

Like the DP, that sub reddit has devolved into just a bunch of reposting of MSM bullschnitzel.

He's the man.

I wouldn't say

it has "devolved", a year ago there used to be a lot less posting of links there so there was not much going on at all. I wouldn't really consider it to be a bunch of MSM articles either... depends on what you consider MSM really... but not sure what better things you would expect to see. reddit was started as a site basically for the sharing of links and I think that continues to be its main purpose / how it is mostly utilized. I don't think it is an optimal place for grassroots activists to gather and organize like an internet forum would be.

But for God's sake, don't be Paultard 2.0!

Lol

There is actually a subreddit

dedicated to "Paultards", but I won't give it the dignity of linking to it here. They are avid readers of Daily Paul BTW, I'm surprised this thread hasn't been posted there yet.
