Help: Seeking RP/Huck Comparison for Christian Voters!

0 votes

I adore my Christian brothers and sisters dearly, but I'm afraid that, as a group, they aren't quite using the brains the dear Lord blessed 'em with.

Now, don't jump on me please -- I am a Evangelical Christian who wholly supports Ron Paul and the cause of Liberty. I do know there are many Christians who support Ron Paul.

...BUT...

I am also too well aware of many who support Huck, not because of his platform, but even despite his platform, merely due to his cross-waving. It's as if people are so tired of everything being secularized, that the moment they see or hear a candidate speak of the Almighty, then the rest of the sound gets drowned out, and all they can think is, if they don't vote for Huck, then they're not voting for Jesus.

Yes. I know people like this. Turning your back on Huck is akin to turning your back on Jesus. (I'll just pause here while you shake your head in utter disbelief...)

So I need a simple flier ASAP comparing Ron Paul with Huck that I can bring to churches this Sunday. I can make one up myself if necessary, but naturally, I don't want to have to reinvent the wheel, particularly if there's a good flier like this already out there. Particularly good would be something that stresses RP's Christianity, about not wearing it on his sleeve and all -- and, wow, verses to back up his humble faith would be amazing too, now that I think of it.

I know the "Common Sense" guy has a new flier comparing RP with McCain -- THAT'S the kind of thing I'm looking for. Short, clear, to the point.

Ideas? Suggestions? Seen any kind of flyer, or, even an article written like this anywhere that we can use this weekend?

Thanks!

Ron Paul submits himself to the law of the land

Focus on the Family has this theory about government having a role in preventing chaos - okay, maybe that part is correct, even Biblically correct, but they extend it to justifying the Federal government pushing the agenda of "social conservatives" at the point of a gun. It does not advance the Kingdom of God for people to obey the laws of God because the civil authority requires it. That cheapens the obedience of the believers because it is then no longer an act of worship.

The Bible gives clear instruction to obey the law of the land so long as it is not contrary to the law of God. By obeying the Constitution, Ron Paul obeys the law of the land with no conflict with the laws of God. By usurping power not authorized in the Constitution to force "morality" on the states, "social conservatives" are disobeying the laws of the land and the laws of God. The Christian slaves of Caesar's household were not directed to take whatever opportunity they could find to seize power and enforce the law of God. With one night of creeping around with swords, they could have prevented any number of sins against God from happening the next day, but that was not the plan God had for them.

Defend Liberty!

Hi, I wrote this for a Catholic friend who likes Huck:

It's not a flier, but perhaps it can help to make one:

Ron Paul vs. Mike Huckabee: Comparing who will protect the religious freedom of all Americans, in particular ALL Christian denominations.

I realize that many Christians have been charmed by Mike Huckabee, however I cannot overlook the facts. The fact is Huckabee is running as an anti-tax, cut spending candidate, but in reality his record as Governor of Arkansas shows that he consistently raised both taxes and spending. In addition, Mike Huckabee is the only person who has earned the reputation of limiting the Rights of parents to educate their own children. As Governor of Arkansas he increased the rules and restrictions over home-schooling parents. The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) at the time berated him, and though they may have now endorsed him (as has the NEA), many home-school parents are well aware of his true record and have since decided to back Ron Paul, whose consistent pro-home-school and pro-parental rights legislation cannot be beat.

I am a Ron Paul supporter because I know that he is the only Republican candidate for President who has a consistent voting record in Congress. He is the only candidate who has voted to uphold the United States Constitution, even when he was the lone dissenter. Ron Paul is the only candidate who has not had to change his views in order to run for President. He is a consistent man who stands behind his convictions.

Dr. Ron Paul has delivered over 4,000 babies as a practicing obstetrician, and because of this hands-on experience he has said:
“As an OB/GYN doctor, I’ve delivered over 4,000 babies. That experience has made me an unshakable foe of abortion. Many of you may have read my book, Challenge To Liberty, which champions the idea that there cannot be liberty in a society unless the rights of all innocents are protected. Much can be understood about the civility of a society in observing its regard for the dignity of human life.”

Dr. Ron Paul has introduced legislation to overturn Roe vs. Wade (HR 300) as well as legislation to outlaw the use of federal funding for abortions (HR 1095). He also authored HR 1094 that defines life as beginning at conception. As a testament to his pro-life record Ron Paul has been officially endorsed by Norma McCovey (Jane Roe). She says “I support Ron Paul for president because we share the same goal, that of overturning Roe v Wade. Ron Paul doesn’t just talk about being pro-life, he acts on it. His voting record truly is impeccable and he undoubtedly understands our constitutional republic and the inalienable right to life for all.”

Regarding Parental Rights Ron Paul introduced the “Family Education Freedom Act” that allows American parents a tax credit of up to $3,000 for the expenses incurred in sending their child to private, public, parochial, another religious school, or for home schooling their children. When introducing this bill to the House he said “Parental control of child rearing, especially education, is one of the bulwarks of liberty. No nation can remain free when the state has greater influence over the knowledge and values transmitted to children than the family.”

Unfortunately, as Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee actually limited the rights of home-schooling parents (1999 AK House Bill 1724) by imposing numerous restrictions on parents who pull their children out of public schools, as well as forcing home educated students to participate in state testing under threat of truancy prosecution. It is well-known that public schools increasingly teach through a very immoral, un-Christian lens. Soon enough the state and federal tests will reflect these values, and home-school parents will be put in a very tough position knowing that if their children fail these tests because they refused to teach this immorality, that their children will be forced into pubic schools, or worse that these parents may lose custody of their children to the state. Unfortunately, Mike Huckabee has a very Socialist view of government, even if he does preach Christian values. Any politician that tries to take away Parental Rights for any reason, even a Christian reason, must be questioned. This is exactly the kind of mindset that has led to the assault on Parental Rights by the Portland School Committee in Maine who voted to give birth control to children without parental consent. This is exactly what Ron Paul has been fighting against since 1976.

Mike Huckabee has taken some heat from the press because he has said that he intends to amend the Constitution to be more “Christian.” This has attracted a lot of Christians to Huckabee’s campaign; however, other Christians rightfully fear the intrusion of any religion into civic law because they understand that it can backfire. Traditional non-Evangelical Christians should rightfully fear the influence of the Fundamentalist “Religious Right” because they advocate Dispensationalist Dominionism, an interpretation of the Bible that is heretical according to traditional Christians (Orthodox, Catholic, Lutherans). Most traditional Christians are staunch supporters of the Separation of Church and State because they do not want any government (secular or religious) to have any say or influence on the teachings of the Church. They have now seen first-hand how legislation can seriously violate the rights of the Church through hate-crime legislation that would prevent Churches from preaching against homosexuality, to the more recent Patriot Act that undermines the right of clergy to keep confessions secret. Unfortunately, the Dominionist view of the Religious Right would end the Separation of Church and State and replace our government with a “Christian” government.

The reason traditional non-Evangelical Christians should seriously question Mike Huckabee is that if a Dominionist form of government was to replace our Constitution, thereby eliminating the Separation of Church and State, then all non-Dispensationalist Churches may face a serious threat to Orthodox theology. Dispensationalism was a new theology created in the 1820’s in England and Ireland by a group of Born-Again Christians revolting against the Catholic and Anglican Churches. It became popular in the United States by the end of the 19th century and has fervently spread across the country since that time. The problem with these Evangelicals is not that their beliefs are heretical, because our Constitution guarantees every individual the right to believe whatever they want; the problem is simply that they intend to force these heretical views upon every single American by changing the Constitution of the United States of America. That is why every single religion should stand up and fight to uphold the Separation of Church and State.

While traditional Christian Churches face a serious threat to Orthodox doctrine, it is our entire country, in fact the entire world that is threatened because of Dispensationalism. While most traditional Churches believe in Augustine’s “Just War” theory, Dispensationalist theology actually advocates the opposite, by believing that all Christians must deliberately fight wars on behalf of Israel (or burn in Hell) in order to bring about End Times and the Second Coming of Christ. The theological reasons for this may be heretical, but it is the ultimate outcome of this, the absolute destruction of the entire world, that is absolutely insane.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat meat!

christians?

guess you'll have to re-define that one for me. a lot of hucky supporters claim to be christians but have departed from the Just War Theory.

THAT is the largest and most important difference between Huckster and Paul.

of course, there are biblical references to "usury" and hucky's record on that is not good in Arkansas.

the tax issue may be the less controversial one to mention when selling paul to huck's supporters. some of them just want to kill all muslims...a much tougher sell to thwart.

Limited Government

The Huckabee crowd will eventually meet up with us if we can emphasize the point that smaller government is healthy for churches. They’ll like Ron Paul’s stance on strict constructionist judges, but the point that really needs to be made, is that the long-term interests of the church are best preserved whenever government is limited. If Republicans continue to find ways to expand the power of government, as Huckabee would do, it wont be long before government starts threatening the church with hate crimes legislation, and the removal of their tax-exempt status. This is a very real threat to the church, and they should be scared as hell. It’s only a matter of time. Only limited government will reverse this trend.

See my letter to churches

I wrote a letter I felt was pretty persuasive. I googled all the church websites in my county and sent it to all the pastors' email addresses. Basically, I approach it from this standpoint: we are voting for who best reflects our religious beliefs instead of who would best let us PRACTICE our religious beliefs. It's on this forum a few days ago. I called "Letter I'm sending to churches". You can copy if you want or change it up.

Ron Paul Statement of Faith.

Huckabee campaigned at Hagee's church. Hagee believes Jesus isn't the Messiah. If you need more than that, then your friends are farther gone than you may want to know about.

Video of Catholics Protesting Huckabee

Who would Jesus bomb? I don't know how any Catholic can be voting for a pro-war candidate. Pope John Paul deemed the war in Iraq as "an unjust war" before it ever started.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrjecBEX1HQ

If you are pro-life, how can you be pro-war? Dr. Paul is the only candidate that I could vote for at this point. If I vote for a Democrat, I get to vote for over a million abortion deaths per year. If I vote for the other Republicans, I get to vote for more military deaths and contribute to the near one million deaths in Iraq. No thank you. I still have a soul.

Who would Jesus bomb?

Remind your Christian brethren of Matthew 5:43 and the literal words of the Good Lord:

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." -John F. Kennedy

----

"...a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people." -John F. Kennedy

Very True...

And, I don't think God would approve of giving 3 TIMES AS MUCH AID and WEAPONS to the enemies of Israel...

Distribute This Flier This Weekend!!

Westwave99, that's just the kind of thing I was looking for! The flier found at http://files.meetup.com/493740/paul%20vs%20christian_huck.pdf is just perfect. Thanks!!

Grassroots folks, let's make copies of this flier and distribute them at churches this weekend.

If you are not a church attender, you may not realize just how big this is. There are many who speak of Huck very much like the bumper sticker, "God said it; I believe it; that settles it." These people really need to be informed about who this Huck really is!!!

Excellent pdf flier Christian flier

You should be able to access from our Bay Area Meetup files with this link: http://files.meetup.com/493740/paul%20vs%20christian_huck.pdf

It's an outstanding flier, why Christians should support Paul over Huckabee.

Hit them where it hurts

Abortion. Ok Mike may be for a constitutional amendment for banning all abortion but that is not going to happen. So we need to judge candidates by who they will nominate to the bench to overturn Roe. Last night, Huckabee would not even take a position on Sandra Day O'Connor! She was the one who held up the overturn of Roe!! So who is most trustworthy to appoint strict constituionalists to the bench? Ron Paul of course. If Ron is prez, Roe will be overturned in five years.

Gay marriage. Ok, again huckster goes for the constitutional amendment. But again, while it sounds nice to evangelicals, it is NOT going to happen. PLUS, it kind of throws a monkey wrench in the log time assertion that the federal govt ought not meddle in things it is not supposed to meddle in. If you threaten the legislature getting involved, you are asking for the judiciary to get involved in it. YIKES! You could end up with gay marriage FORCED on all states. Stick with Paul. NOT a federal issue.

War. Christian Just war theory. You are never justified when you are the aggressor.

Jefferson and Tenth amendment. Huckabee is just dishonest here. He claims to be a strict constitutionalist but never is.

Overall, every evangelical is different. Find out what theri hot buttons are first, then show where Dr Paul is a better candidate.

I am an evangelical too you know! lol

Good Idea!

I Hope someone comes up with something ready made and concise as you ordered.
