CIA Director Brennan Admits He Was Lying: CIA Really Did Spy On Congress

The director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Brennan, issued an extraordinary apology to leaders of the US Senate intelligence committee on Thursday, conceding that the agency employees spied on committee staff and reversing months of furious and public denials. Brennan acknowledged that an internal investigation had found agency security personnel transgressed a firewall set up on a CIA network, called RDINet, which allowed Senate committee investigators to review agency documents for their landmark inquiry into CIA torture."

I'd ask why the guy still gas

I'd ask why the guy still gas a job given his blatant disrespect of constitutional separation of powers, but just consider who his boss is.

Well, damn!

`Now he's not just a mass murderer and destroyer of countries......now he's a liar, too! I would have never guessed. Peace.

"Wasn't me" (in a deep, deep, raspy voice)

So he admits to lying about spying?

Why was he not escorted out in handcuffs? Soft spines make terrible wine. I wonder how many members of congress will use this to fundraise?

Jokes on him. Everyone let him lie.

Time to apply the neck stretcher?

Free includes debt-free!

Ha! Busted!

Will anyone be punished?

Hell No!

The spooks will just have to find more clever ways of violating our rights.

Accountability for the real criminals in our gvt?

N E V E R !!!

I've suspected for a while, now, that the various alphabet soup agencies have had the majority of congress blackmailed using whatever they could dig up in their dossiers. Everyone has at least something they would rather not share with the entire world, especially if they are up for regular elections. That would certainly explain why many go in saying the right things, but then do the exact opposite in office. Greenwald's dud of a bombshell, earlier this month, wasn't quite what I was expecting...

I'm shocked and utterly dismayed!!!

How could this be?

The CIA has had an impeccable track record of truth telling and honesty up to this point.

I can only hope the reputation of this distinguished Agency does not suffer because of dishonesty of this one man. Surely the problem is isolated to this one incident and not systemic throughout the institution.

This will turn your post purple like this:

We had to vote on the bill to see what was in it.

I had included a "<" /sarc ">" tag at the end, but the editor took it out.

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

Sarcoplasm overload! She's gonna blow!

This false testimony has to stop.

I hope someone asks Ron, when he's on c-span2 12:-3:00 EDT this Sunday, what can and should be done when lawmakers and people are given half truths and lies by these executive administrators. Should we follow through after these administrations are out of office and jail the lying bastards?

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

I don't want an apology or jail time.

I want to see the files on congress, the last 10 executive branches and staff, the supreme court down to the clerks and all nationally known reporters.

Gilligan's picture

Didn't we have a previous President

impeached and convicted and removed from office for much less serious spying?

Google is government.

Great point Gilligan!

The CIA plans to oversee itself and set up a panel

To punish those responsible. What a joke that will be, the ones who did it got the order from their bosses at the CIA who will then chastise them for not spying carefully enough and getting caught.

Those responsible should be doing hard time.

Along with James Clapper for lying to Congress.
And Dov Zakheim for stealing 2 trillion from the Pentagon.
Not to mention Dick Cheney and the rest of the Neo-Con scum.
