Primaries today! (8/5)

Who is ready to vote in today's primary? I know not all states are having one, but I know here in Michigan there are a few big ones happening.

Everyone do their homework? What other states have open polls tomorrow?

I can't believe

there are that many people who would vote against Amash. How could you have a better congressman? Even if you don't agree with everything, he is the most transparent congressman ever and is in his district all of the time. What kind of fools would not want him for their congressman?

Don't underestimate the idiot vote

Doesn't look good for the Wolf pack

Pat Roberts is 10 points ahead. A few unknowns are also in the race chopping up the vote total which would make the difference for Wolf as the alternative to the LONGEST REIGNING SENATOR STILL ALIVE!

Was this an open primary?

Looks like very few Dems voted compared to Reps.

Looks like Liberty Incumbent

Looks like Liberty Incumbent Kerry Bentivolio has lost. Same with Tom McMillan running for the open seat. Overall it looks like a pretty bad night in Michigan.

I met and supported Kerry

I met and supported Kerry Bentivollio during 2012 for a special election , and moved to the west side of the state soon after the votes were extremely low , he was good on many issues ,I fear he just did not try to stand out enough.

I was curious...

...and found this:

2014 Congressional election

Bentivolio will face an August 5, 2014 Republican Primary challenge for the Michigan's 11th congressional district seat from lawyer David Trott who announced his bid on September 4th, 2013.

A May 20-22 poll of likely Republican primary voters run by Target Insyght and commissioned by MIRS (Michigan Information & Research Service, Inc.) showed Rep. Bentivolio leading Trott 33% to 21%.[23] The poll also shows a significant unfavorability rating for Trott among the Republicans surveyed.

A July 12-13 poll commissioned by the Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-TV indicated that Bentivolio's support had dropped considerably in the face of a strong media barrage from the Trott campaign; Trott led in the poll of likely Republican primary voters 53%-31%, with 16% undecided.[24]

Political positions

Bentivolio describes himself as a conservative with libertarian ideals on most issues and has been endorsed by the Tea Party Express. He strongly supports the right to bear arms.[25]

He describes freedom of speech as "vital to our society."[26] According to his campaign website, he opposes "any measures to regulate speech on the Internet, or to license and regulate the behavior of Internet service providers."[27]

According to Electful.com, Bentivolio is pro-life.[28] Bentivolio's campaign website says that he opposes federal subsidies for abortion providers, foreign aid that "supports abortion in other nations" and requirements that religious institutions provide coverage for abortion as part of federally mandated health plans. Bentivolio's website also notes that he is endorsed by the pro-life group Right to Life Michigan.[29]

He seeks to reduce regulation and bureaucracy, cut taxes, cut government spending, and discontinue government investment in some industries.[30]

In response to a request from a concerned citizen in his district, Bentivolio promised to hold a hearing concerning the "chemtrails" conspiracy theory.[31][32]

During the United States federal government shutdown of 2013, Bentivolio was one of the 144 House Republicans who voted against legislation to end the government shutdown. In explaining his vote, he said that the new health care mandate should be delayed for individuals as it was for businesses.[33][34]

Don't understand why people want Dave Trott?

Yeah, tough night in Oakland county, MI

That's Romney territory... The Dark Side clawed back some positions.

But we're still kickin' !!

Brian Ellis was constantly

Brian Ellis was constantly spewing his nonsense drivel all over the public air waves here in west mi. Though everyone I spoke to knew better ,even many democrats appreciate his every vote explained and the fact that he was there for 99% . Good job Justin !

The other congressional liberty candidates are behind

McMillin, Kerry, Bussler, and Konetchy.

Brikko is uncontested.

I'll check on the state races later. Disappointed to see Rigas behind.

Haha

Just statistics. For future reference, it's not until about 1000-3000 votes have been counted that the results can be confidently asserted to be accurate. And once 1000-3000 votes have been counted, any wild percentage swings thereafter are highly suspect to fraud. That's just the way the math works. At ~2000 randomly counted votes, it becomes very unlikely that the final results will be different than the count at ~2000. That 2000 number is regardless of the total population size.

This comment only has about 200 votes. Not enough to be considered an accurate representation of the whole.
