Revised: Music Discovery

For my first post I'd like to share one of my favorite bands with you!
I hope you give em a chance, I've found their music to be very uplifting. Lots of great lyrics with a message of raising your consciousness and freedom (especially freeing your mind)

Enjoy! Here's "Wookiefoot"

Wookiefoot - Welcome Home

~Good Night, And Good Luck~

Within Temptation and Amaranthe in concert

So I'm going to check out Within Temptation when they're in town at the end of the week (I mentioned and included some videos below in an earlier comment). In addition to the Dutch group WT headlining the show, a Swedish group Amaranthe is being featured. They describe their sound as "dance-metal with a taste of death and modern/melodic metal" but unlike death metal, their focus is on "positive energy" and opening up minds and giving passion, strength and love. I just watched a few of their recent videos and I think their music and message might appeal to some here at the DP.

Amaranthe - Drop Dead Cynical

In the context of the current war fervor being spewed by the MSM, these lyric excerpts stand out for me:

Welcome to the new world
Open up the gates of paradise
So let's get cynical
Run into a new maze
Open up your minds
and soon we'll all
Be drop dead cynical...

I hope to thrill you that expectations rise
I want to bring you so that you can compromise
I'm coming at you like a killer now
so it's the truth you are drop dead cynical

Amaranthe - Invincible

Similarly, these lyrics...

I am your dream in disguise
I am your enemy
I am the shadows you fear
The code awakens me

Inject the brutal vaccine
One man against them all
Like the truth never dies
I'm indestructible

Can't you see who I am
I'm invincible
Like a force that is out of control
It's the key to achieving my goals

Amaranthe - The Nexus

For their The Nexus video, Amaranthe female vocalist Elize Ryd had the following interesting tidbit to share:

Q: After watching all the videos Amaranthe has released up to now I wondered: when is the movie coming out? I really enjoyed how you manage to keep the action tied to a progressing story, and the visuals are tastefully linked to the music. The video for your first single “The Nexus” has also received an overwhelming feedback with half a million views and counting. Can you tell us a bit more about it?

Lol, thank you! Well, yes, It was very expensive to make because of all the statists we hired and the location. Patric Ullaeus the producer and Jake wrote the scenery together. Since our songs is a lot about fighting and surviving the bad, it feels like the right thing to do an action-ish music video. The next one is also gonna be produced by Patric and that is a Ballad so it will probably be less action.

If you want to see Within Temptation and Amaranthe in concert, check out their tour schedule. They just started their American tour with dates out until the end of October.

Wookiefoot - Brainwash

Welcome, johnald007. Having liked your 11:11 thread, I searched your profile to see how recently you came aboard and found this as your first.
I hadn't heard of Wookiefoot before, but I'll definitely give them a better listen, now that you've intro-ed them here. Here's a live clip I found of them doing a song especially appropriate for the disillusioned here on The DP:

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

Got to wash your brain!
This is a goodie!

very pleasant and light.I

very pleasant and light.

I counter with this profoundly different pleasant and light German music from the 70's ..

Neu! - Hallogallo

Neu! - Isi

i can't see

These on my phone, but look forward to checking them out!

Reminds me a bit of the theme to Cheers...

and another English artist...

which was inspired in part by...

speaking of Prince...

I always think they need more flute in rock :)

...said no one ever.

Lol. Jk.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

Great band fellow newbie,

Great band fellow newbie, thanks for the share!

Know what?

I'm not even gonna read this one now. I'm gonna save it for a rainy day.

It's been long enough to make your poppin freshness rare and I'm just gonna save you for for later. Cause it's nice to have something to look forward to.

I can tell it's a great first post.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

Smudge! You should listen to "welcome home" first. I think you'd like it :)

Michael Nystrom's picture

Yeah Smudgie

I came t' nuzzle you a little.

Yeah, this is a great post. This morning I had to come back here and listen to these two songs again just to make sure that all this wasn't a dream last night.

I just bought the album.

Check out the first track. Captain's Log.

Michael Nystrom's picture

It's a Leap of Faith

I absolutely love this.

- - -

If you want to find this place
You've got to take a leap of faith

A mind tied in knots can never believe
A hand in a fist clench can not receive

We're lifting up the veil to see
That it's always been just beneath the own to feet

And I'm gonna make it and your gonna make it too
Cause you got me and I got you

Its a leap of faith. A leap of faith.

Seek and you shall find
When you think outside your mind.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Yeah, I think it is ok to start a new song thread

in spite of what dabooda said below.

Sometimes the mood just calls for it.

There is a certain mystical quality to the Daily Paul for me sometimes. It is right for the times. It is changing. I am changing, and I either have to change it or leave.

Or maybe both. Steve Jobs 'left' Apple to start the MacIntosh. He set up a separate unit, outside of The Borg, which was gorging on money brought in by the Apple II at the time.

I found these guys

At the perfect moment in my life as well. After listening to both "Be fearless and play" and "Ready or not" albums for a couple months, I swear I could feel the messages soaking into the subconscious and raising my awareness and moods substantially! It can be hard not to let the matrix suck the life and light outta ya!

Michael Nystrom's picture

Yeah, I think that's what I need to do too

I got Ready or Not today. I love it.

I don't think I'm ready, but I never do, so I guess it doesn't matter. Ready or not, it is now or never!

Thank you johnald007, again. You cannot imagine what an impact this has had on me.

Pleasure micheal!

In spite of what dabooda said below,

dabooda entirely agrees with you. Once a music thread has dozens of videos on it, the pages take FOREVER to load. The old thread was freezing up.

Perhaps there should be a more descriptive title for the new thread, though, to let folks know it's a music thread? Just a thought.

Yes I do agree with you there.

Perhaps there should be a more descriptive title for the new thread, though, to let folks know it's a music thread?

Sticking up for the MAN

Within Temptation is a Dutch metal band that had, for me, the anthem songs for the r3VOLution. (No offense Aimee Allen)

See Who I Am
Who is, Ron Paul 2008?

See who I am, break through the surface
Reach for my hand, let's show them that we can
Free our minds and find a way, the world is in our hands
This is not the end

Stand My Ground
Thank you, Ron Paul 2012!

I can see
when you stay low nothing happens.
Does it feel right?
Late at night
things I thought I put behind me
haunt my mind.

I just know there's no escape now
once it sets its eyes on you.
But I won't run, have to stare it in the eye.

Stand my ground, I won't give in.
No more denying, I've got to face it.
Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside.
If I don't make it,
someone else will stand my ground.

How apropos then for me to find their recent song; it speaks to me as it would seem to speak to the MAN.

Whole World is Watching
Keep floatin', Daily PAUL!

You build your walls
Then break them away
'Cause that is what it takes
You saved yourself
You found who you are
And that never goes away

And I know you wish for more
And I know you try
And I hope you realize
You know the time is right

The whole world is watching when you rise
The whole world is beating for you right now
Your whole life is flashing before your eyes
It's all in this moment that changes all

What are you waiting for?
What are you fighting for?
'Cause time's always slipping away
The whole world is watching
Yeah, the whole world is watching
You and you rise

How awesome too for Within Temptation fans: they're doing a US Tour this fall (9/25/14-10/11/14)!

Never heard of them, thanks for sharing!
She's got a beautiful voice with a powerful message. What a great, but very rare, combination

Michael Nystrom's picture

Be fearless and play

And then I found this, or rather, it found me. Same group - Wookiefoot.

"Be fearless and play! Be fearless and play!"

"This is one thing no one can ever take away"

Wow. Message received, processed and stored.

Definitely one of my favorites

Micheal, I had the feeling for quite sometime that you would really like these guys! I think we are on the same level :)

When you're falling, turn it into a dive

I understand why I opened up registration now. For these two songs. Listening to the second one now. It matches what I was just now thinking perfectly!

Yes, I will surrender.
Ready or not,
I will surrender
Ready or not.

Put your hands in the sky
I will surrender

When you're falling, turn it into a dive.

Turn it into a dive!

- - -

Johnald007. I remember you. You wanted to get in here so bad that you were trying to pay to become a member, but that system is currently in disrepair.

The Daily Paul is breaking down a little bit here and there. And that's precisely why I needed this advice. We're falling.

Turn it into a dive. That has so many meanings! I think of it as that you just go balls to the walls: Harvest energy off the thrill of the dive to drive action. Putting drive into action by getting to work.

Now get to work, biznitch (message to self).

- - - -

I'm going to go listen to those two songs again. Thanks.

i like pink martini

but i don't mind a mellow cognac on the rocks.

wookiefoot's shangri-la reminds me of the tex-mex sound of los lonely boys...

Daily Paul etiquette nazi suggests:

When you have music to share, there's a special thread to post it on. Here it is. I suggest you bookmark it (just click on the "bookmark this" link, which you will find just below every post).

It's nice to have just ONE thread where everyone can share favorite music, otherwise the whole site would get cluttered with dozens of posts for individual songs. It's also a great way to browse through different music, when you're in the mood.

And welcome to the DP.

Not trying to rock the boat! (At least not enough that someone falls overboard ;) )
