Paul added: “Some people are purists, and I get grief all the time — all these libertarian websites hating on me because I’m not

But later, with an irritated edge to his voice, Paul added: “Some people are purists, and I get grief all the time — all these libertarian websites hating on me because I’m not as pure as my dad. And I’m putting restrictions on foreign aid instead of eliminating foreign aid altogether. And I’m like: ‘Look, guys, I’m having trouble putting these restrictions on, much less eliminating them! So give me a break!’ ”

Let's cut him a break guys. He's our best chance.

Ron was Gold, Rand is Silver.

Ron was Gold, Rand is Silver. Both a preferable to paper

Did he really?

A man with an MD used the phrase "hating on me?"
Very, ummmm, Kentucky of him, I suppose.
Can we get away from this notion that disagreeing with a politician is the same as hating them?

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

That is why you won't see him

That is why you won't see him gain the grass roots of his father. He is going to be a conventional candidate. I hand built all the signs, drove long distances, made calls, and spent more money than I ever had before for the Ron campaign of 12. Many of us did that because Ron played no games and spoke from the heart.

OK I'll give him the credit

"I’m not as pure as my dad."

He knows it

Watch "Katt Williams-98%" on Youtube (Rated R)

Listen to the monologue by the comedian Katt Williams; it can provide a perspective regarding Rand Paul. Beware! The language is suitable only for adults with politically thick skin and open minds.

Unfortunately, our political system runs on the left/right paradigm as defined by G. Edward Griffin. Collectivists subverted our democratic republic and perverted it into a pseudo democracy. However, Ron and now Rand represent the ideal asserted by the rapper Ice-T in the fourth paragraph on page 160:

No candidate can meet an ideology's criteria one hundred percent. The person who closely embodies the ideal can "infiltrate the system" to introduce revolutionary ideas like strict compliance to the Constitution and abolishing the central bank known as the federal reserve. However, such a representative must win first by the unsavory task of politicking.

That's a big two

He supported sanctions and walked back his 2010 budget which included aid cuts to Israel.

I am not saying that we only need people who will push for perfect liberty legislation, because we all know that such legislation will be voted down into oblivion.

But when it comes to certain issues, like foreign policy, there is no compromising with these NeoCrazies. They want perpetual war, perpetual debt, and unlimited Gov power.

A compromise between George Washington and Mao is FDR.

I like Rand and he is truly the best we have in the Senate and I wish we could clone him and replace both the lame Senators(Kay "Big Pharma" Hagan and Richard "Never had an original thought in my life" Burr) of my State. Honestly I would prefer him to stay in the Senate than make a white House bid, since as a Senator he is able to do more than be a punching bag for the other side or a partisan puppet.

OK OK you guys got me

I promise to not say anything bad about Rand in public. I'll get with the program. I'll be a total conformist tool. It won't kill me. The wife on the other hand I'm not so sure about.

She's probably gonna kill me.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Kennedy wasn't a purist

But everyone liked him . Rand will do what he can for the average American and start the return to liberty .is it wrong to help Americans in need if the tax money was collected legally by the constitution ?

When anyone Preaches disunity Tries to pit one of us against the other Through class warfare race hatred or religious intolerance You know that person seeks to rob us of our freedom And destroy our very lives.

robot999's picture

It comes down to...

Waking People Up! At one time or another most (if not all) of us were under the spell of statism/patriotism/socialism/democracy (you get the idea). In order to START restoring our Republic, we must wake people up.

Ron woke many of us up, because many (most) of us have an open mind and a love for freedom that was stronger than the spell cast upon us. We are stronger than most people, because we had not given into the trap of non-thinking.

Rand must now go after the next group of victims of this spell. He must reach THAT guy/gal. We all know at least one. The spell is deeply embedded, just one wrong word uttered can invoke the spell and drive up a wall.

Then there are those who are just too ignorant and lazy. They will never realize the truth until it is slapping them in the face, and even then, many of them will embrace the tyranny - claim it - and become tyrants themselves. They will: turn you in to "authorities", they will hate you, they will commit violence against you directly or indirectly. They deserve to hear the truth, but they will reject it out of fear.

We are all in different places because we're all individuals. If you need to be a purist, I respect that.
I'm a purist when it comes to the idea - the principle, of freedom. But I recognize that we are in a war, and the other side is very well equipped. The one thing that we have on our side is Truth/Rightness, which is a very powerful tool.

I support Rand, because I have looked directly into his eyes and talked with him. I had the opportunity to do this on an airline flight to Tampa (was very cool) - we sat next to each other on the plane. He is his fathers son IMO. He is a Liberty soldier. He is Artfully fighting this war to save our Republic.

Am I a purist?

Am I a purist for how I voted in 2012? I took the time to ask myself this question and thought I would share.
Statement of Facts:
I voted for Ron Paul in the Illinois primary on Tuesday, March 20 2012.
I was 100%, heart and mind ready in write Ron Paul on the ballot in Nov.
I did not write Ron in ONLY because in IL. write-ins do not count.
I cast my vote for Gary Johnson on November 6, 2012.
Am I a purist for not supporting Romney?

No, absolutely not. I would have been supporting the status quo.
The Constitution was and is the compromise!

That it was, we could have stuck with the

Articles of Confederation.

Some people are such purists...

Spoken like an ass who wants to justify forcing the things he finds desirable on people when he wants to.

Liberty is a binary choice. You either leave people alone to do as they will or you do not.

The downvotes speak volumes.

Most of you don't want liberty, you want the person or people you think should be in charge in charge. That's not liberty, that's what we have already.

Yes that some in this place

Yes that some in this place are willing to give up just a little freedom for something... it doesn't work that way.

Common guys I can't get them to stop killing everyone so we will pass a law that reads they can only kill 90% of them.

So much better! NOT

A great endorsement of Bob Wenzel's site

Economicpolicyjournal.com He gives Rand grief all the time.

Best Case scenario ... there will only be two choices;

Rand or Hillary.

If you think there is a third, you are on bath salts.

Dr. Ron and I are voting for Rand. Then the closest advisor to the President of the United States will be none other that the great Dr. Ron Paul.

You can throw a tantrum if you want. See where it gets you.

"Best Case scenario ... there will only be two choices....If you think there is a third, you are on bath salts."

WRONG. There will be 3rd party choices in at least 45 of the 50 states. You are flat out wrong. Now if you are talking about 'of the choices who can win', then that is a different story. Frankly, i vote for what is right, not who can win - because i knew Ron Paul would not win in 2008 and 2012 primaries but campaigned for him and voted for him anyways.

Ron Paul is great for those

Ron Paul is great for those who will listen.

For everyone else there is Rand Paul.

Sometimes no matter how perfect you can be as a libertarian - the mainstream is used to hearing the same old rhetoric - that's what Rand Paul is for. To influence those who won't listen - not to appease those who will.

This characterization of

This characterization of Obama, that calls him so Libertarian, mod and hip, is so disgustingly deceitful, that I almost lost my lunch.

Neither a Rand hater or acolyte, but...

How it all ends is going to be very interesting.

Ron's purism ultimately built a Libertarian movement, whether intentional or not. So far, Rand's building a political career. Is Rand's middle-of-the-road approach enough to snap Republicans out of their partisan stupor? Very doubtful. If anything, he'll likely have to continue to appeal to just that - i.e. "It's more the Democrats fault," etc. Ron managed to snap people out of it because he was an enigma who the most curious just had to figure out: Why is this Republican blaming Republicans? Why doesn't he appear to want popularity? Why doesn't he flip-flop? Why doesn't he love war when all the other Republicans think it's brilliant?

Unless Rand makes it into a key position within the Senate or White House and imposes full Constitutional filters, or at least starts to educate people the way Ron did and some of the smoke clears, then Rand may well have sacrificed what could've truly become Ron Paul 2.0: The Movement Continues for a shot-at-the-big-time, and achieved little: Nothing politically lasting, and certainly no lasting movement like that which sprang up around Ron.

Rand's a slick a maneuverer as any around at the moment, and if even he fails to gain power or gains it and fails to change anything significant or lasting, it'll surely serve as a cautionary tale about who's approach was really most effective out of Ron's or Rand's, and who's approach ought to be followed in the future.

Time will tell.

The worst thing that could happen to an ideological movement is to attach itself to a non-ideological person.

As it is now, we will find outlets for our ideologies and affect the issues. But if we tie ourselves to someone who does not represent us, then we will end up like what 'tea party' (the GOP version).

This does not mean Rand cannot represent us...But between the Mitt Romney/Mitch McConnell endorsements and his recent statements that Congress should authorize pre-emptive war against ISIS - I am not sure Rand is the person.

In christianity, it is commonly known that Satan prefers to attack something pure from the inside, not the outside. For us, that would mean a false leader.

Ron Paul is a principled man.

Ron Paul is a principled man. Some hate him, some love him. His uncompromising has won over millions to the cause of liberty. Rand, in his quest to please everyone risks coming across as a flip flopper. He will still be hated by some like his father, but he will be loved by none. He is basically just another power jostling politician.

You R Wrong, I love Rand Paul

Democrats are so scared of Rand Paul because he will strip them of votes. Are you getting paid $10 a hour by the DNC to bad mouth Rand?

I have to admit

I was a and still like the purist vision. I have seen how this has worked out, only since 2007. I am surrounded by conservative republicans, who can't get past the two party paridigm. Some liked Ron, but they didn't like his military stance. Many thought he was simplifying things that were much more complicated. Many thought he was just a flake. Very few understand the Federal Reserve or that the UN is a catalyst behind some threatening legislation. I would like to see a purist get to the top, but I think it would take more destruction of our economic system to get there. There are contingency plans prepared for when that happens and I don't think voting will save us then ( if it can even help us now). I feel like the strategy has to change some, if we are going to get anywhere further. I sometimes think I would try to do what Rands doing and many would not give me a break. Even though I am Ron Paul's son, people think I went to the darkside.

It only took me less than seven years, to evolve to this way of thinking. Repeated discussions with people and hearing their views. I've seen how people are persuaded by propaganda/marketing tactics. So I truly believe this tactic is necessary and I believe things are going to change somewhat rapidly(Gun laws, liberties, privacy, etc.)

Agenda 21, PNAC, CODEX ALIMENTARIUS and UN biodiversity study. Help me understand why I shouldn't think there is a big agenda against the wishes of the masses.

A nation can survive its fools....

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

Rand rooting for Lamar

I hope Senator Alexander doesn't get an opponent. That's what Rand said last year concerning that big RINO Alexander. He didn't officially endorse, but sort of did.

Sheesh, I don't know what sordid dealings are going on, but that's just messed up.

That's right, he is a

That's right, he is a compromiser, just what got us into the situation we are in today.

maybe he should totally go against the grain

and have no hope at being elected, wake up man.
