So much for "secret plans"

0 votes

The numbers are out and Ron Paul's campaign has gone through the cash. The secret plan was that they were saving the money to launch an advertising blitz against the remaining frontrunners.

Well, there's very little money left and I have yet to see a good Ron Paul ad where he singles the other candidates out for their bad records.

It's very disappointing.

Money has been spent for ads not yet run.

Political Advertising has to be paid for in advance. Keep in mind, ad buys for Super Tuesday were committed to prior to year end and required up front payment.

So, money has been spent for ads not yet run.

___________
News Shocker: Ron Paul biggest GOP fundraiser last quarter
Well, it’s official, ladies and gentlemen. Believe it or not, Rep. Ron Paul, the 72-year-old Texan who hardly ever gets mentioned in Republican political news and the one-time libertarian who always gets the least time on TV debates if he isn’t barred completely, was, in fact, the most successful Republican fundraiser in the last three months of 2007.

By a Texas mile.

By the thousands Paul’s fervent followers donated $19.95 million to the “Ron Paul Revolution.” He spent $17.75 million and at year’s end had $7.8 million cash on hand, making him the only Republican candidate to increase his fundraising totals in every quarter of 2007. According to his website, Paul’s Paulunteers have contributed another $4.1 million this month to fuel the strict constitutionalist’s travels and advertising campaign.

Compare that impressive financial success with, say, the late candidate Rudy Giuliani, who raised only $14.4 million from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 and spent $18.2 million.

Or the departed Fred Thompson, who collected $8.9 million and spent $13.9 million.

Or even the newly-minted Republican frontrunner Sen. John McCain, who raked in only $9.9 million, spent $10.5 million and had only $2.9 million cash in hand. Of course, McCain’s string of primary victories in January will have boosted his financial fortunes. Everybody loves a winner.

Mitt Romney actually raised only $9.2 million from other people last quarter, less than half of Paul’s haul. However, the former Massachusetts governor — and if he keeps spending at this rate the quite possibly former multimillionaire — gave himself $18 million more of his own money last fall for a total of $27.2 million and $2.4 million cash on hand.

Well, for those of you with

Well, for those of you with anecdotal evidence to the contrary of my post, I thank you. I am more upbeat after reading them. Your civil comments were refreshing and appreciated.

For those of you of a derogatory bent, your replies were clever even if misguided. I respectively flip an electronic bird to each and every one of you.

Go Ron Paul!

The plan according to HQ

This was the plan I knew about on Dec 29. HQ asked for $23 million. I figured they needed it to go against the millions of dollars of free advertising that the other candidates get from the media. I maxed out in December. I thought 100,000 plus supporters of Ron Paul could have raised that $23 million by now, but apparently they are either broke or satisfied. Or maybe they are saving up and waiting for the Independence Day Money Bomb.

December 29, 2007

The Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary are only a few days away. Wyoming, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Florida and Maine will soon follow. But on February 5th, nearly 20 other states will hold their contests on the same day! That's right. In just six short weeks, the Republican nominee for president will likely be determined.

As Wikipedia explains: "In the Spring of 2007, upwards of 20 states with over half the delegates to the national conventions moved to change their primary dates to 5 February 2008, creating the largest 'Super Tuesday' to date. Newswriters and political pundits have noted that this will dwarf the Super Tuesday primaries in previous cycles, creating a 'Giga Tuesday' or 'Super Duper Tuesday.'"

A year's worth of work is coming down to the next several weeks. Victory can be ours. But we must triple our efforts and triple the amount of money raised right away.

To run radio and television ads in 20 states simultaneously will cost a fortune. Not to mention the cost of voter contact mailings to those 20 states. And then there is the cost of contacting hundreds of thousands of people by phone. All of this, plus other projects, will cost $23 million more than we presently have in the bank.

The progress we've made in 11 months is phenomenal. The dedication, creativity, generosity, and just plain hard work by you and tens of thousands of other Americans have already made history.

But we are not finished making history! First, Ron Paul becomes the Republican nominee. Second, Dr. Paul becomes President Paul. Third, our country becomes America again.

The time is now. Please make your most generous donation today. https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/

Ouch

First I looked at this
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/expend.asp?id=N00005906&cy...
And SAID OMG we spent all our money on Junk and salaries.

Then I looked at the totals at the bottom
WHEW, add it all up. its only 3.3 Million
There is the other 14 Million?!?: )

Thats for the 3rd quarter

The data is from Jan 4th 08

Also, check this break down of money...

I guessed about 12000(total excluding the states already done) Precinct Leaders at $7\hour and 20 hours\week = 1,680,000

12000 Leaders purchase $300 Dollars worth on Fliers = 3,600,000

I reached 4 supporters @ 2% of my precinct so 100% = 200

12000 Leaders Locate 200 new supporters = 2,400,000 new supporters and 10% donate thats 240,000 new Active members.

240,000 Doners \ 10% of them Donate = 24,000 Actual Donations

24,000 * $100 Dollar Donation = 2,400,000

Add it up and you get 7,680,000 + the current amount donated = $12,280,000 total grassroots money machine!

I was just bored!

Austin, TX is airing independent ads for the Campaign as well so

we have to look at the total activities of the grassroots to estimate his total reach...

It's not true in ND

I've seen many RP ads here and it is paying dividends. The latest reports says that RP has received the most cash amoung GOP candidates from ND residents. What does matter is the message and that is getting out one person at a time.

My guess is that the person

My guess is that the person who started this thread is a troll. Probably a supporter or staff member of another candidate who is simply trying to demoralize us. Don't let them.

For all we know this could be someone from Guiliani's camp who is angry that they could not keep up in the race while RP is able to. Oh poor poor Guiliani..... LOL

Ron Paul for President 2008!!!

Keep the Faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. That's right. I've just

Yup. That's right. I've just been hanging around for 11 weeks to finally execute my designs on all of you.

Funny you should mention Giuliani. I was one one of three people standing outside an auditorium back in September handing out Ron Paul slim jims after Rudy came to town to give a speech. Of course, I only did this in order to infiltrate the ranks of my local Ron Paul meetup. You're onto me.

What a bunch of silly people.

Traveling a lot more

He has been traveling and speaking more and that costs a lot (chartering private flights etc)

He is still in this thing... as long as we let him!!

You don' t lose until you quit. There are 6 candidates 2 Demos 4 Reps. Not too bad... BUT, PAUL is here to change the world. He's not in it to just be the Republican nominee but to Re-Invent the United States and world.

Just seeing the title of his new Book is brilliant. THAT's The SECRET weapon!! attack ads may get you a soft vote, but PAUL is looking beyond that. He is educating the People of the good country. He is the torch bearer for a new revolution.

Darkness hides in "secret

Darkness hides in "secret plans."

It's no secret that the stars are falling from the sky...
It's no secret that the world is in darkness tonight...

Ron Paul has more cash than any other GOP candidate.

Period.

Those insinuating he's broke, or short on cash are just trying to sow seeds of doubt.

Doubt not, for Ron Paul was just announced the leading GOP fundraiser for the last quarter of 2007.

So Rudy, Huck, Insane McCain, and Miss Mitt can put that in their pipes and smoke it.

We're smoking them.

This $$ thing has got to be changed. It leaves a creepy-tingling all over me just thinking about the massive amounts of $$ it takes to become President of the United States. Now why is that?

I can't help but think to myself that all this $$ is like buying the position -- it's like highest bidder gets to keep the prize and the prize is the job of President of the USA.

This has got to be changed, it just makes no sense the way business as usual is conducted. And you'll notice I'm not even addressing the corrupt hijacked political system that exist (even beyond the $$ requirements) -- well, maybe I just did.

I can confirm that ads are running in Texas...

I heard one on rush as well as a friend of mine saw the grassroots contest from CNN\Tube on TV...so chill out and call some voters.

Ads were purchased awhile ago

As I recall from my daily obcessive google news searches over the past few weeks, it had been anounced that ads had been purchased in super tuesday states. There are also travel expenses and all of those new offices you see opening cost money to rent, along with staff to pay. These offices need to stay open and work even HARDER all the way thru to the convention. This takes real money, Clinton machine style money.

This is not ameture hour. Ron Paul has said time and time again that he needs 100 million dollars to run a campaign. It is time to step up and participate with your cash and your canvasing. I know this is hard as many of us are average working stiffs, but if ever there was a worthy cause to support, this is it. There is a money bomb today (as if none of this knew this lol), and if you are getting or have gotten your income tax refund, please consider buying a smaller flat screen tv and send the difference in cost to Ron!

What the Hell is wrong with you people?

Why are some on this site determined to be constant downers? TROLL TROLL TROLL f-ing TROLL!!! We can get depressed if he loses. Otherwise, your preemptive pessimism is just cowardice.

There has been a lot of

There has been a lot of confusion with regards to how much money D. Paul has or has spent on what and how much they need.

Following is an outline of the situation:

1) The grassroots gave Paul $19.5 million in Q4 (several other candidates had already spent well more than that in Q3 months before Dr. Paul got his big cash.
2) The Campaign requested $24 million ADDITIONAL on top of the $19.5 million in order to have basic media in some of the Super Tuesday states.
3) In response to the request for the additional $24 million the grassroots have given....... $4 million. $20 million less than requested. =|

Dr. Paul's campaign is running on a shoe string and is tiny compared to several of the other candidates.

Please notice that everywhere Dr. Paul speaks now he says "I will stay in this thing and fight as long as the supporters keep giving me the resources".

Dr. Paul's campaign is strapped for cash. Give! Give! Give!

=)

My guess is, the money is already spent on Super Tuesday ads

I'm confident that Dr Paul knows what he is doing.

Stop complaining; work the precincts!

Work the precincts...

and donate.

The FEC does not have Ron Paul's numbers listed yet. However,

Jesse Benton said 2 weeks ago that we had 8 million left.
also Barack Obama's numbers aren't posted yet either.

All hope is lost. My life is

All hope is lost. My life is shattered and I can't go on. Oh, my poor, decrepit self! To die, to sleep, to sleep, perchance to dream; aye there's the rub for in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil; must give us pause.

There. How's that for negative? I can't wait to see the replies now. All from a simple little questioning of the "secret plan" that is somewhere, somehow, in effect. So much for dialog.
