Call me naive

But I saw the symbolism as "let them kill each other, and the everybody will be happy"

If you believe this was made by an 11 year old

I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

This is propaganda at its best.

Hmm

Kind of sucks for the guy flying the Israeli jet

Yeah, I was thinking that...

...it is not completely objective here, seeing as how no one is manning the Hamas rocket, yet there is an Israeli pilot in the jet.

The kid is just personifying the objects of war

It is not likely that this kid was thinking too much about the soldiers operating the killing machines--how much more distressing would that be? To a child's mind it must seem that if only you could do away with jets and rockets, the killing would end, the need for an iron dome would cease to be, and the walls could come down.

What excuse, then, do the adults have? With the MIC behind the scenes, greased with foreign aid, arming both sides.

One guy made a great comment, in the comments section...

" There are violent extremists on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, however, MANY Israelis AND Palestinians want PEACE and are coming together to demonstrate that fact. One of the most amazing examples of that is Combatants for Peace, former Israeli and Palestinian combatants who have seen the horror of war, decided to put their weapons down and work TOGETHER to break the cycle. IMAGINE if their shining example was shared with the World. Although I was born in Israel, I am pro Human. I am just as sad about Israelis being killed as I am about Palestinians being killed. Extreme generalizations and the dehumanizing of an entire people is what lead to the Holocaust. Our Human Family CAN evolve beyond that destructive way of thinking. The Israeli government does NOT represent all Israelis, just as Hamas does NOT represent all Palestinians, and those who profit monetarily from war do NOT represent all Humans. With that being said, what are the solutions and how do we find them? I certainly don't have all the answers, but I'll share a few more thoughts for now:

When a therapist sees a violent person who was abused and taught violence from an early age, they look at that person through the eyes of compassion. They do not demonize or vilify them. The fear that leads to destructive greed and violence has been passed down from generation to generation; it is a sickness. It is the fear of not having enough power, fear of what one doesn't understand… it is the addiction to the idea that we are separate from each other, the earth, and all creation. Just as a therapist looks at their patient with love and understanding, so must we, the Human Family, look at ourselves. "

Thank you for reading…

I LOVE YOU ALL.

Violence is a disease

The comment you posted reminds me so much of Gary Slutkin's work on the disease like nature of violence. While he mainly looks at interpersonal violence, I think the underlying principles apply equally well to war, especially when he addresses how the disease is passed from generation to generation and infects entire communities.

I don't know what the answers are either, but the more I've come to think of all violence as a sickness rather than something "evil", the more I believe that stopping these senseless wars really does come down to solutions that focus on treating the individual. After all, no matter what states or organizations are behind the warmongering, at the end of the day, their wars require a lot of individuals be willing to take arms against each other.

Eloquently written, regardless of whose side ..

you sympathize with, (or if you don't side with either!) you can support this comment. It could be a thread in itself.

Beautiful comment, thank you!

Thank you for posting that particular comment Lawmanjed. On this, I believe, we can all agree! Very well stated.

If Wars Can Be Started by Lies, They Can Be Stopped By Truth.

Speedily and soon! (no more war)

May it be so.

Yes, I hope Einstein is wrong here
