Military Coup In Iraq: Prime Minister Maliki Refuses To Step Down; Security Forces On Alert, Encircle Presidential Palace
Just days after the US launched a campaign that implicitly aides the current regime headed by the supposedly outgoing PM, al-Maliki, it appears that latest US intervention has already led to "unexpected" consequences, this time with the prime minister appearing to have just staged a coup overthrowing Iraq's president President Fouad Massoum moments ago.

Hubris

A la' M. Scheuer. I love that bearded man with unabashed fervor. Your decisions will dictate the future option available to you. Thats the way it works, Homeslice.

Whatever hopes, dreams and wishes will be for naught unless you embrace WHAT IS. Decisions made on anything else than reason and the facts at hand are intellectual self aggrandizement.

ISIS is bad, I have little sympathy for Maliki as he was out for himself and his tribe/party/govt/power anyways. As it has always been there.

The sad part to me is the culmination of the ignorant sacrifice of the honor, blood, tears and souls that we sent into this hellhole of Iraq that needs to figure its own future out. And it may get uglier, probably undoubtedly so until they reach some kind of political equllibrium. THEMSELVES.

As bad as Saddam was he didnt have w m d he was at least in control vs the chaos of f&%@* that TPTB have wreaked in the name of righteous self def, no I mean bringIng freedom to the IraqIs. Or whatever now.

"inside every Iraqi is an American trying to escape". that goes double for Afghanistan, especially for those "ingenious entrepreneurial bastards that have taken the self initiative to learn how to fire a belt fed machine gun through a bathroom window"

Intentional destruction by the unseen.

May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a time of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers and the establishment. And saved their Country.

As bad as Saddam Hussein was?

How was he bad exactly?

As soon as Iraq reaches its own equilibrium?

They are being attacked by a mercenary army the US government trained and weaponized, and lost control of.

Your statements are rubbish, imo.

You miss my sarcasm

This situation with ISIS and the down fall of Iraq are the direct uncontrollable blowback effects of our military interventionism in Iraq.

May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a time of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers and the establishment. And saved their Country.

My sarcasm detector must have malfunctioned

Must be that super-moon lol.

I agree with your last statement 100%

oh on Ol' Saddam

I am not saying he was a saint or whatever the equivalent is but he had managed the be the right guy at the right time in Iraq. Especially with a leetle support from outside organizations in the 80s.

May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a time of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers and the establishment. And saved their Country.

Pretty much everything Saddam did was on account of USG

Either directly or indirectly, which is why I have a hard time with the word 'bad' to describe Saddam.

Kind of like labeling Frankenstein's monster as bad without condemning Victor.

Thats true.

Sleep walker types baaaarely believe that Ol' Saddam was listed as an asset by the usg. They would be cute and laughable except their ignorance is disheartening. Cant light a brushfire of reason and Liberty without kindling.

Then you try to tell them about the fifties and sixties next door. The repubs last vp nominee vented in a speech about how all our problems with the eye-ranians started in 79.

Cant reason with unreasonable people.

May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a time of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers and the establishment. And saved their Country.

Ooops!

Sorry bout the double post...but I just remembered, Obomba is on vacation in Matha's Vinyid. This crisis is going to have to wait.

By the way, is this a real world event or are we watching a parody? I just can't tell anymore...

It seems like a comedy skit Ronzda

Attack a relatively peaceful secular country of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Occupy the country and watch the oldest community of Jews in the world destroyed and driven out.

Then remove forces.

Arm Muslim extremists in the next country over and train them to be killers.

Muslim extremists dance over the border and start eliminating the Christians.

Panic and begin bombing the Muslim extremists you just armed and trained.

SteveMT's picture

There have been so many mistakes made that they are TNTC.

That is "too numerous to count." Can anyone say WMDs?

Maliki thought that when

he refused to have US troops extend their occupation in Iraq that it was over. Ooops! Wrong again. We are going to be around for a long long time! Filler up with high test...and clean them winders too while your at it!

The MSM narrative of ISIS is laughable

ISIS has essentially double-crossed the 'neo-con' wing of the US government which was feeding it with weaponry and training in Syria. (McCain, Graham, Military/Industrial complex, CIA, etc)

ISIS, after months of getting slaughtered by Assad, Russia, Iran basically said "F#*% this" and headed into northern Iraq for easier pickings.

Big problem for Neo-cons since northern Iraq was supposed to be part of a new Kurd homeland.

This is why all the Neo-cons are shouting at Obama to destroy ISIS as quickly as possible using any means necessary.

The MSM is claiming ISIS is using arms from Iraq. Untrue. Most of their weaponry is from US 'aid' to the 'rebels' in Syria.

The toughest part for the neo-cons is they had little control of ISIS since they had to stay at arms length for the sake of 'plausible deniability'.

Israel also aided ISIS, big oops considering ISIS recently stated their support of Hamas against Israel.

hey, another cia created, US funded government overthrow

Just like the fed buys up all of the US Gov bonds, our covert intelligence agencies battle "terrorists" that they themselves create! That way someone will always buy US debt (even if its the US) and the war machine will always have someone to kill (even if they are cia assets)
