You Be the Webmaster! DP Challenge #2: "You people need to stop!"

Spotted in a comment with seventeen downvotes and counting!

Stop mourning the loss of this communist! He was NOT a friend of liberty! These damn crocodile tears are pitiful!!

It is on the Robin Williams RIP thread that Séamusín posted.

Here is another quote, same thread:

Who are YOU to tell me enough? I am sorry but you will have to help me understand why I should bother myself to care that you think I should not speak my mind as much as these other little girls that are crying over a drug addict liberal coward that took his own life after spending thousands of dollars over the years helping to oppress me and take my freedom.

What do you do with this guy, Daily Paul?

Holy crap

Have I somehow gotten lost and ended up in little bitch land?!?! You people need to recognize the enemies of freedom and act like men! What is all of this crying and moaning?!?! Robin Williams actively worked against liberty and for big government!!!!!

Is he wrong? He asks:

If I am so wrong for so long like he was, I expect condemnation! I will be damned if I mourn those that work to oppress me! His money helped get people elected that took away my freedoms and unjustly taxed me. He was a willing accomplish in taking my money and my freedom! He was the enemy!!!!!

Is he entitled to his opinion?

Is he entitled to his opinion at the Daily Paul?

Do you guys want to keep him around?

He is an oldtimer. I give him credit for that.

Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill

Not to intentionally rebump a post that seems now water under the bridge, but I am reminded of a song about an 'old timer' not liking the 'music' of today. Kinda goes with the theme of this post.

Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

Not all opinions need agree!

Far too often people take flight to the keyboard to angrily reply to opinions which differ from their own beliefs in an effort to quell those differing opinions.

This is exactly the opposite practice of liberty that I thought Daily Paul was based upon.

Rational persuasions are made by emotional entities.

Being free is problematic, rarely as simple as it could be

Free includes debt-free!

I concur. That was weird.

Those who know me also know how much of a staunch anti-communist** I am.

Yet, I did find those comments in the Robin Williams RIP thread pretty unwelcoming and quite tasteless - to say the least - given the topic and the post, indeed -

- and not to mention Robin Williams' memory, who was a quite enjoyable comedian to watch, incidentally (imo).

Politics can turn people weird :/

**Wish me luck!

I Have Faith in You, Nystrom....

...maybe a little too much, but nonetheless. great faith.

You were big enough to show us "why God put erasers on pencils", and perhaps that is why.

If it makes you happier, I'll block both you and the "perpetrator".

Happy now?

This post created more enemies than it did friends, more infighting, more name calling, and MORE hard feelings amongst people who should be standing together
AND,it was over a difference of opinion

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

No, I'm not. It was a mistake on my part and I apologize

I just sent Will an email apologizing as well.

I had a couple of points.

One is that kind of abrasive behavior tends to lead to an escalation of abrasive behavior. (As we've seen here).

Second is that there is all kinds of stuff I have to deal with as the webmaster of this site, and I want people to see it. Much of it remains invisible.

I've only scanned over all the comments on the thread. I've got too many other problems I'm dealing with right now.

Again, sorry about the whole thing.

Thank you for asking.

I knew your answer before asking,I knew that wasn't what you were shooting for.
You are a great man, and I do know you have a lot on your plate.Spread it out or give some of that to others,no reason you got to carry that ball all the time.

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Thank you Michael

I have been a guest of your site for a very long time. Unlike so many others, I fully recognize, as I’ve stated in the past, that it’s your house and, as such, I am a guest. I want to thank you for allowing me to be a guest here for so long as it’s been a source of information and “fellowship” (to some degree) that I truly appreciate. While I did not appreciate the public trial or your presentation of the facts that was done in such a way as to sway public sentiment against me, I can weigh it against the fact that I’ve been allowed to be a guest here for a long time and, in my mind, that cancels out this one event.

I will say that I am sorry that I offended you. While I don’t much care if I offend others (most of the time), I am bothered that, while a guest in your house, I caused you offense and grief. I mean that sincerely.

Thank you for reversing your course and for being such an honorable person and, again, thank you very much for providing this site to all of us.

You're a good man Michael, Your decision to apologize...

to Will was the right one. I can't imagine how hard it is to run a site like this one.

Best regards always.

Please don't ban someone for speaking what a lot of us felt.

No, I am not happy about anyone's death--no matter how wicked. I was very saddened that he committed suicide rather than embracing the love of God. But, why play into the elite's game plan? They love nothing more than to put an entire society into mourning over the death of someone that most people never really KNEW.

Christians should not be warmongers! http://www.lewrockwell.com/vance/vance87.html

I think it's an issue of attitude and general humanity.

A while ago I posted a thread asking for the permanent banishment of Morgan Freeman from the liberty 'movement'. I linked to an interview he did about his early life on Actor's Studio (now unavailable).

My point in this was that everybody comes from a different place, from different experiences, and it's not fair to judge a person and say they are a lost cause because they happen to be a 'liberal' at the time. Isn't one of the biggest problems we face as a movement the attitude that we own the correct point of view on every issue and anyone who disagrees is an idiot?

Finally, it's a matter of common human decency. A man is dead and the grief is real and should never be mocked.

I would ban this user. They are not merely wrong:they are poison.

It was probably the pandas.

Learn to read

I never "mocked" Robin Williams. I did point out that he was not a friend of liberty and I did use some harsh words to describe him (but those words were ALL accurate/true). I did NOT, however, "mock" him.

I really wish people would STOP misrepresenting what I write (or say)...

Oh, by the way, Robin Williams made a fortune MOCKING people he didn't like in his stand up routines. Go check out some of his nasty comments about Sarah Palin (not that I'm a huge fan of hers but he was certainly hash in his treatment of her)...

liar. you mocked his death.

And his grievers.

It was probably the pandas.

Tell you what

Find a post where I mocked him and paste it here. I've just reviewed the posts (I think that I found all of them) and do not see any "mocking" in them.

Did I read backpedaling?

"My point in this was that everybody comes from a different place, from different experiences, and it's not fair to judge a person and say they are a lost cause because they happen to be a 'liberal' at the time. Isn't one of the biggest problems we face as a movement the attitude that we own the correct point of view on every issue and anyone who disagrees is an idiot? "
Then you state, you'd ban this user?
Yes,I read backpedaling

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

It occurred to me immediately that I may be doing what you say..

So I qualified my statement.

It was probably the pandas.

Thankfully the majority here disagree with you...

What about what you just said that you blacklisted me

And my account years ago? Is this because you are a liar or a coward?

It was probably the pandas.

Good grief

You sure are a quick one to call folks names.

When I wrote that I had blocked you, I had made a mistake. When I looked at your account, I saw the word "block" and misread it to be "blocked". I went back and saw that I was wrong. That is why I edited that post and removed the bit about blocking you. If you remember the original post, I stated that I did not remember blocking you or why I did. Now I understand why, I never did block you.

You can call me names like "jerk" or "asshole" and I'll laugh it off knowing that I am sometimes a jerk and an asshole but, damn it, I do not lie and I am absolutely no coward and I'll not stand for you calling me either one!

It was probably the pandas.

Witty and stinging retort!

Just locking in your reply for the permanent record.

No more backpedaling for you.

It was probably the pandas.

Now I am going to resort to name calling. You are a dork! I do not EVER back-pedal. I either stand by what I say or write or I offer up a correction and/or apology if I am proven wrong. There is NEVER an in between for me! If you cannot glean that from my posts, you are mentally challenged (of course I already suspected that a few posts ago).

You use too many explanation

It was probably the pandas.

Is that so? Too many explanation marks? What are those?

I find this whole thread of "You be the Webmaster" to be...

somewhat distasteful, and not indicative of what the liberty movement stands for.

Unless you have confronted this individual personally about your concerns, I think it's wrong and in poor taste to do so in this type of forum.

As owner of this site you have his email address and have the ability to contact him privately. I would hope you have already done that.

We are all grateful for your efforts in creating this forum for us to use and enjoy, and recognize it's ownership belongs to you. But the liberty movement that caused this site to grow is owned by the movement and not the DailyPaul.

I hope you rethink the direction you're taking this site, as it's most un-libertarian.

I know you will do the right thing!

Thank you

I have written several times that, given that this is Michael's site, he can do whatever he likes (including banning me for my posts about Robin Williams). However, this, as you stated, is indeed distasteful.

I've reached out to Michael (privately) but he has not responded to me. I've posted comments on his comments and he has not responded to them.

I too do not appreciate this public trial that seems to be an attempt get all of you to vote to burn me at the stake.

Again, I thank all of you that have contributed to this "trial" rationally and are keeping the original concept/intent of this community alive. Thank you for not being the lynch mob that, apparently, Michael was hoping for.

I also believe that we all

I also believe that we all have a right to speak our piece, as long as it is done with respect that others may not share the opinion. Freedom for all, not just the like-minded.

If you walk blindly through life, you will run into a lot of walls.
