Police killed California robbery hostage (Is it time to disarm police?)

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A hostage kidnapped during a Northern California bank robbery was killed by police in an ensuing chase and shootout, likely during a final gunbattle where the lone surviving suspect used her as a human shield, authorities said Monday.

The results of a preliminary ballistics report show that police in the city of Stockton fired the 10 bullets that struck Misty Holt-Singh, 41, and all her wounds likely came during a final burst of gunfire, Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said at a news conference.

Clearly it's all his fault. ;)

... The police obviously aren't at fault for anything; 'cause he's the one that took a human shield! Oh, and they probably found him in possession of a "how to be a criminal" manual that told him to take human shields, so any civilian casualties must be only blamed on him...even if he didn't fire the shots...yeah. *sarcasm*

The ONLY answer is to END the the way "protection" is delivered in the US now, through socialism, and allow free market security services! Look for "private police" on You Tube for great examples!

"Through socialism": success=cops, failure=criminals?

I love the compression in your two words. Just as banks promote themselves through socialism, privatizing gains and socializing losses.

Thanks Walty!

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

If she had had a weapon on her person, wouldn't she have been justified using it in the bank, rather than risking her abductors, and/or police weapons, being used against her the way it happened.

Granted, the police "meant" to save her, but TEN bullets, coming only from police actions, means that the shooters were determined to take down the robbers no matter what harm or death the hostages might incur.

And to think that they (the police) will go through all that trouble chasing the bank robbers for what amount to nothing but printed pieces of paper, that they print just about everyday. Just a reality check...

Damn. That really put it in perspective. What is the point of their service? Doesn't sound like protecting.

disarm the police you say

I am going to look into this
Isn't there a ruling of SCOTUS that says the police don't even have to protect you
If so why do they need the firearms but for personal protecting and if they have them why don't I ?
