Take the Daily Paul Poet Challenge

Sometimes profound wisdom, great insight or rib-tickling humor can be conveyed in a few sentences. The Daily Paul is blessed with some funny, thoughtful and intelligent users. I challenge those with wit and rhyme to take the Daily Paul challenge: Write a limerick or other short poem to convey a message about something near and dear to your heart, such as liberty, peace, precious metals or the Pauls.

Here's mine:

There once was a doc named Ron
Who had a senator son
The father was decisive, not divisive
And Rand a Republican

The winner will receive the most up votes.

My take

A doctor name Ron hated the fed
But the media ignored what he said
Now its come crashing down
They look like a clown
And all deserve a boot to the head

Here's a little ditty...

...inspired by this Lysander Spooner quote:

A man is no less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years.

Poor fellow knave, we're no less a slave
Rather we choose or refuse every four years
Our only solution, is a new revolution
Our masters' greatest of fears

It actually took 30 seconds to write after I read the Spooner quote.

"knave" in this poem is this definition:

3. Archaic.

a. a male servant.
b. a man of humble position.

...not the modern: an unprincipled, untrustworthy, or dishonest person.

Work for pay, pay for freedom
Fuck 'em all, we don't need 'em

It Was No Dream

It Was No Dream

Sights and sounds were all around,
Within the chambers of my mind,
And I tried to hold on to what I found,
And what I hoped to find.

Then as the darkness in the room,
Gave way to light slowly rising,
Remembrance removed all the gloom,
With memories so surprising.

And as I lay in my bed,
I recalled a mighty rally,
Bring them home! End the Fed!
We want peace in the valley!

It was no dream; I saw it all,
A movement from sea to sea,
And above it all, was Dr. Paul,
Proclaiming liberty!

When She Breathed Her Last

When She Breathed Her Last

She was murdered as she fled,
Armed thugs shot her dead,
But no one cried when she died,
When she breathed her last.

It was easy to find,
The helpless target from behind,
But it was hard to hear Congress cheer,
When she breathed her last.

It was said she was apprehended,
Her killers thanked and defended,
But it was just Miriam and her baby,
When she breathed her last.

She was killed in her car,
Five bullets from behind,
But no one cried when she died,
When she breathed her last.

God help us. No one cried,
When she died,
When America breathed her last.

Onward Expansionist Soldiers

dedicated to Manny and Poppy

El Presidente! Grab us some land.
The opportunity's too close at hand
To pass the chance to annex the isthmus
And have a flag with sixty stars next Christmas.

Presidente! If you are bold
Central America'd be ours to hold.
We'll water-ski on Lake Nicaragua
And in Managua dance La Cucaracha!

Presidente! Don't let us down!
Our latin brothers don't need one more clown.
You tweeked the nose of ol' Noriega,
Now kick the butt of Tovarisch Ortega!

Presidente! Here is the scheme,
We'll face the future and Jefferson's dream.
Let's expand the U S A!
El Presidente, what do you say?

Anarchy and Enterprise

All Soviet and Socialist Republics fall apart
The time has come to drop the gun
Berlin was just the start

In memory of Robin Williams

I cry for you

Delicate like a new bloom
Open, close, scary darkness,
Sun bright, almost blindness

Weighed down
Inner push

Break out!
care too much

A Campaign Song

Just vote for me and I'll bring home pork from Washington DC.
We'll soak the other taxpayers, but you'll get yours for free.
We'll build you a mighty welfare state and it will be your slave,
Offering full coverage from the cradle to the grave.
(...the cradle to the grave...)

We'll regulate small businesses, we'll tie them up in knots.
If not for the vigor of the working class, the budget would be shot.
(...the budget would be shot...)

When things go sour we'll duck the blame, you cannot pin us down,
Not two Senators, your Congressman (deedle eedle eet deet),
The President, or his Vice (wah wah waaah),
His Caaa-binet, the Supreme Court or the Pentagon,
What a slick bunch of lice!

(intermezzo)

So that's the way the system works, we'll rob the country blind,
And blame each other's party, you'll buy it every time.
The donkey and the elephant will patronize the pest
Who whimpers for free goodies from the public treasure chest.
"New roads! Food stamps! More benefits! Not a single user fee!"
Don't call it socialism, we say "Democracy"!
So watch the action on the floor, it's sure to make you ill,
Those lying scheming Congressmen, there on Capitol Hill!

Love will never fail you
Hold onto what dwells in you

In peace and all earthly hearts freed

writing poetry is easy nothing to it.

But I still won't do it
For I'd likely screw it
Up.

When the media says you are

When the media says you are kooky
The truth is they think you are spooky
They spin and they weave
But you must not believe
The "news" that they offer is dookey.

How about off topic? Hubby just got a new toy...

Demons know that.

I'm not very poetic

But I'll give it a try
For some strange reason
I dont know why
I'm usually not a very sociable man
So my attempt at this poem is the best that I can
Do, to try to come out of my shell
But, boy do I have a story to tell!
My name is Shawn, most know me as Freeman08
Just wanted to introduce myself, before its too late,
As for that story, its not quite the time
And it would be easier to tell
Without having to rhyme.

Ron Paul Lit The Fire

Ron Paul Lit The Fire

Body bags arrived in the night,
Hidden from public view,
Quickly buried out of sight,
But their families knew.

One war, two, three and four,
Force was their solution,
There was more, much more in store,
Forget the Constitution.

Leviathan told us what to do,
The Bill of Rights was no more,
Slaves to the privileged few,
Totalitarian to the core.

But in this Orwellian night,
A little flame was lit,
Barely visible to the sight,
Behemoth didn't mind a bit.

But as Machiavelli grew in size,
The little flame began to spread,
And much to his surprise,
Patriots' hearts were not dead.

Soon the flame became a fire,
Raging from sea to sea,
Patriots out of the mire,
Proclaiming liberty.

Ron Paul lit the fire,
A modern Paul Revere,
A peaceful revolution his desire,
The Constitution held dear.

Ron Paul lit the fire!
Get up and take a stand!
Ron Paul lit the fire!
Come, join freedom's band!

Here's my shot

Why we have the statist IRS
to harass us is anyone's guess
It certainly has been used before
to steal from all, both rich and poor
with unjust audits on you and me
tis one more step toward tyranny

A Ron Paul Haiku

End welfare you end war;
Economic and personal liberty are the same;
Debt creation and taxation theft.

Here's mine.....

The Aqua Buddha exclaimed "he's so mean!"
As President he was elected
All his criticism deflected
And now he says "winning!"

As babes we Pee on a whim,
A blink, a Pa, and beck'n call,
Till rest, caressed with Winter's Pall.

Raise a cup filled to the brim
With wholesome dairy nectar.
Here's a toast to the elder Paul:

A life so full and blessed
Touched lives ever near and far;
We wish you well to the end of days,
When Creator shines light on all.

Good by sweet death

Good by sweet death,
fear on my breath.
Hello to my life,
sight filled with light.

Losing contact with Emalvini and Smudge.
Please oh please Michael,
Don't leave me with Breitbart and Drudge.

They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds. -mexican proverb

Spark of Liberty

In pride we start with eyes closed tight.
Our lives are struggling in places ever dark.
Then mercy cleanses and gifts us with sight
True liberty now grows via this heavenly spark.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
And those who have not heard shall understand.

Limerick No. 1

The blues of our day pass as news for our slop,
while queues from the "fray" are settled irrelevant flop,
men of drones serve little left,
kindred clones perverse the cleft,
scintillate lies fell from high are filtered down the purer drop.

There's a certain lady in Texas whom you'll....

...be delighted to know is following this thread. She's going to post her offering soon, I hope, so I decided to write a poem of of my own:

There's a family named Paul,
Whose stature's not tall,
But when they take a stand,
There are thousands of hands,
Who applaud their fine minds,
That are filled with all kinds.
Of of ways we can make,
Our country's true stake,
In Liberty, Freedom, a Republic,
And Peace, come to fruition,
Through Von Mises admonition,
That sound money is key,
For America to some day to be free!

It's Friday night

It's Friday night
At the good 'ol DP
Rumors and worry abound the ark
As liberty lovers cry, "Woe Is Me!"

But have faith, fellow passengers
For I predict you will see
That whatever the future holds
From this ark shall sprout the seeds of Liberty

Very nice.But, let's be

Very nice.

But let's be mindful about uppercasing words. A word uppercased is a word official. Let liberty ring. For it to, it must be accessible to all.

PS. Good on you to place a comma between a salutation and who it addresses. Few -- and I do mean few -- people do it. One thing I've noticed in the past year is that many DPers' writing has improved. Roar on, you Lion. *hat tip*

Thanks!

...and re: capitalization, it's funny because the iPad I was typing on autocorrected liberty as uppercase, and I just left it. I just liked how it looked i think.
