The Daily Paul's SignificanceSubmitted by sleightofhand80 on Sun, 08/17/2014 - 12:46
The Daily Paul is an excellent gauge for what issues are important to well informed people. We have on this site some of the finest, well-read, well-spoken individuals who possess a vast knowledge of what is going on in the world that matters. None of these “fluff” distraction stories you’ll see on the six o’clock news make it to the front page of the DP. Yes, it sucks that someone painted a swastika on a church in the middle of nowewheresville, USA but my rights are being violated everyday by Congress and the President, and that’s more important to me than a baby duck being rescued from the sewer drain.
As I mentioned, the DP is a gauge to see what news is important to liberty minded indiviuals. Gay, straight, Christian, atheist, liberal, conservative, the liberty movement isn’t pigeonholed into one faction as the dinosaur media would have us believe. Sure, we can all visit Drudge, NY Times, Wa Post, etc… with a click of a button to get our daily news fix. But these sites don’t have a voting system allowing viewers to decide what the relevant issues are. Because of this when I wake up in the mornings and check the DP, news has already been filtered for me. AND in addition to the most pertinent issues making the front page we have the viewers’ comment section where commentary is validated by upvotes or downvotes, once again, all part of the gauge to determine what’s important/relevant and what’s not.
Now ask yourself – is there another site like this on the internet? No.
The DP has become a valuable resource untapped by many liberty minded people who have yet to discover the site. Someone wrote in a recent comment (and I can’t remember who/where or I would link to it) something to the effect of if Rand Paul wins the nomination in 2016 this place will BLOW UP. Think about this. We’ve got a surfboard on the edge of a tsunami and with the recent success of DP open enrolment the wave has just gotten bigger.
Now Michael, I don’t know what kind of financial strain you guys are under to keep this site going and if it’s just too much of a financial burden I understand. But if it comes down to it I’m willing to help out on a monthly basis with a donation in order to continue being a part of the community. I’ve gotten so many things off my chest since becoming a member here and received awesome feedback in the process. It’s therapeutic among other things.
So with that being said, I hope (and pray) the DP will continue. My prayers are with you guys and I’m not saying that lightly.
